Allowed Techniques

⦁ Jump combos & resets (Including the use of Mirage, excluding Double Lifts)
⦁ Self-Destruct (SD) animation cancelling, strictly:
- SD+Heavy while mid-air as 2B & A2.
- Tapping SD to have the character come to a stand-still.
- Holding SD to carry momentum while falling.

⦁ Death Warps & Save/Load Warps
⦁ “Mario Kart” aka Drowning
⦁ Boss fight phase skips (Adam 1’s “Sword Dodge”, Eve Phase 1’s “Platforms”, etc)
Skype Glitch (starting rules apply)
⦁ Any & all Dialogue Cancels or Skips
⦁ Shortcut Menu Spamming dialogue manipulation
⦁ Passing through collision that permits passage (One-way walls)
Prologue Engels Pipe Swag
⦁ "Money Grinding" (The process of using vendor discounts attained from certain weapons in combination with Chapter Selecting)

Banned Techniques

Banned Techniques are split into 3 Tiers (from highest to lowest: Tier 1, Tier 2 & Tier 3), resulting in different penalties if one is executed during a run (at the verifier's discretion). If additional ruling is given for a specific trick then they will be broken down into what is classified as each Tier of penalty.

Tier 1:
In instances where a Tier 1 technique is used by the runner, the run will be rejected.
Abandoned Factory Bridge Skip
⦁ 2B Virus Trigger Avoidance
Meatspin aka Tower Early
Picture Book Exploit
Forcing the despawn of enemies in Shmup/Flight Unit sections

Tier 2:
In instances where a Tier 2 technique is used by the runner, a 2-minute time penalty (at the verifier's discretion) at minimum will be added to the final submission time. Abuse of these will result in a larger time penalty or potentially rejection.
⦁ Any & all Out-of-Bounds and Clipping through collision that resists against player movement which results in over 15 seconds of timesave or avoids any enemies/hazards.
⦁ Passing over or around invisible walls & triggers (Trigger Avoidances, Cutscene Avoidances, etc)
⦁ Any & all issues with the City Engels encounter not triggering, spawning, dying early or the Flight Units not following the predetermined track through the City Ruins.

Tier 3:
In instances where a Tier 3 technique is used by the runner, a 45-second time penalty (at the verifier's discretion) at minimum will be added to the final submission time. Abuse of these will result in a larger time penalty or potentially rejection.
Self Destruct Cycling (Including “SD-Advances” like faster light attack combos as 2B & A2, repeated SD+Hacking as 9S, etc.)
Double Lifts
Pods A and C Triple Program Bug
⦁ Any & all Out-of-Bounds and Clipping through collision that resists against player movement which results in 15 seconds or less of timesave (Including results that would otherwise have been timeloss).

Additional Ruling for Pod Slow mo
Pod Slow-mo is given at least a Tier 2 penalty if:
⦁ Actively cancelling a charging/charged Pod Program that aims to continuously slow down enemies & hazards.
⦁ Completing a Self Destruct without discharging any charging/charged Pod Programs.
Pod Slow-mo is given at least a Tier 3 penalty if:
⦁ A Pod Slow-mo cancel is done without immediately discharging the Pod Program(s)
Pod Slow-mo is given no penalty if:
⦁ A Pod Slow-mo cancel is done and the runner immediately discharges the Pod Program(s)
⦁ Pod Slow-mo is cancelled with a cutscene (both in-game and pre-rendered cutscenes)

Additional Ruling for Damage Glitch / Damage Exploit
Damage Glitch is given at least a Tier 2 penalty if:
⦁ Repeated uses of a Damage Exploit (Damaging many enemies after having performed a Damage Glitch)
Damage Glitch is given at least a Tier 3 penalty if:
⦁ A single usage of a Damage Exploit (Any tick of Damage Glitched damage that hits an enemy)
Damage Glitch is given no penalty if:
⦁ A Damage Exploit is performed but does not hit any enemy (This does not include thresholded enemies that cannot take anymore damage)

The following will incur no penalty:
Prologue Engels arm hitting twice in one swing (Doing 2 ticks of damage in one swing)
⦁ Our current Partner suddenly disappearing from view during a Flight Unit section aka Shmup, damaging everything that enters the player’s screen.

Definitions

⦁ Out-of-Bounds areas are defined as: Any area that can access a Void-Out area (not drown zone) without clipping (Void-Out areas never perform the bellyflop animation).
⦁ Void-Outs are defined as: The phenomenon where the player reaches a limit (determined by the game, evaluating distance travelled and airtime) where the game will respawn the player at their last location on solid ground. Void-outs that are within the constrains of the map do not count towards being Out-of-Bounds.
