The grandma's power-ups open up a lot possibilities for shortcuts and other stuff, and it makes a speedrunning a lot more interesting. I think there should be at least one grandma run leaderboard (probably any%).
Also, the 3DS version does have deluxe, so I'm not sure what to do about that...
Back in days, I looked at the possibilities of using power-ups to save time. The problem is that, imo, the only power-up that could help is the high-jump (a lot of level can be cut in half with it) but this power-up, if my memories are right, cost 1600, so you need all gems.
For the "grandma run" i'm not completely sure what you mean, please explain your point :)
You're right that most of the shortcuts use the the high-jump. I think there may be shortcuts you can do with the other power-ups too. Also, the boosted gun can help.
For a grandma run, you would start with an already complete file and play through however many levels were in the run. The timer would start on entering the first level and end at the end of the last level.
I guess since you have to collect all the coins to get the grandma (I think), only an any% run would even be possible. So that's what we would have.
The boosted gun can save some time in some levels, but the time you lost by going to the power-ups house and coming back to the level you were, already takes like 10 sec, I could be wrong, but I don't think you can save this 10 sec after in the run, because you almost don't even have to stop running in a good run. But I guess someone have to try it.
Using a power-up in a level would change almost everything we've learn because we need to find the optimal routes for gems and making sure we have the right amount of gems for the power-ups house. Maybe we'll need to do a detour somewhere to get the right amount of gems, and it would cost time again.
Anyway, I still think that even if using power-ups would make a run more fun to do, I personally don't think it would save time in any way. Someone will need to try it out :)
Oh, and BTW, your run, I think you can understand that it's hard to claim a World Record without any proof. But I agree that it's hard to get proof on a 3DS without capture card.
I'm not saying "do it again !" but if you could use a camera or anything in front of the 3ds with a timer beside, it would be great for your next runs and easier for us to see if it's legit. But.. it's still claming a WR without proof. I kept the run in "stand-by", I'll think about that and see what I chose to do, don't worry :)
I just realized how confusing my original post was. Sorry! What I mean by a grandma run is not a run using the grandma's power-ups, but a run using the grandma herself. As in, you use the grandma character for a whole run. Then you would have all three power-ups the whole time. You would have to start with a file that already had her unlocked.
I understand why you took my run off. If this helps, I basically did everything Giraffe did, except I didn't die a ton on the last level like he did. I'll see what I can do about a video.
I see what you mean, It would be different and fun I agree. But I guess we can't say it's an "official" category. I never seen a speedrun category in a game that doesn't start from the beginning.
If someone wants to do this category, he need to beat the whole game before, not very fun :P at least, you don't have to reset your save file when you reset your run, that's a good point lol.
If you want, the game is $2 on steam right now, it's a good deal and a good way to get a video proof and also you could play all Deluxe levels :P

In my opinion, it would be fine to make it an official category. Anyone who's speedrunning this game probably has the grandma unlocked. And, like you said, you can reset the run without resetting the save file. But you're right that it doesn't start from the beginning... I dunno. :P It's up to you.

You didn't know you could use the grandma? So you haven't done any of the grandma levels? Wow . :P I won't be able to put a run up for a little while, but I probably will at some point. (There doesn't seem to be much community for this game anyway...)
I've been playing a little more recently and I found out a couple things:

Not sure if you knew this, but there are secret characters you can unlock in the ghost levels! They also have all three power-ups (like the grandma) so they function the same as the grandma. I think we should change the grandma category to include these characters (maybe just change the name).

Turns out you once you unlock the grandma (or the other characters) you can use them in any profile any time. This means that you can start a new profile already using the grandma (or another character). So you can start from a new file and use the grandma!
Also, I feel like there should be a category for 100% all original and deluxe levels, just in case somebody wants to do that :P
Finally, since the 3DS version does in fact contain all the deluxe levels, I think we should take off the thing in the rules for the first three categories that says "Because the 3DS version doesn't have the Deluxe version levels, every category are about the original levels."

I'm still not sure that the 3ds contains all deluxe levels, I finished the game and never seen any Ghost levels.. Or maybe I was stupid..

I played this game on 3ds a long long time ago, so since 2014 it seems that ghost levels have been added to the game. I guess you are right!
I'm sorry...I realized I was too pushy. I don't mean to force you to do anything. I was just frustrated because I felt like you didn't care. I see you changed the categories, so thank you for that.
I care a lot, because I added this game to this website, I'm "kind of" the one who created speedruns for this game.. in some ways... and I put a lot of works doing the page skin, the categories and blah blah. There is pretty much nothing to validate because we're only 3. Also this game is like my kid.
I understand what it is, when I was 14 like you, I always wanted to be moderator of something and wanted to help. Now i'm Mod on a lot of Twich channel, forums, websites, and more.. it's just about time and also about reputation. I'll probably change my mind when this game will be huge with 400 persons speedrunning it, but for now, this game is well managed i think.
Alright...I am sorry. Let's be friends. :D My friends kinda make fun of me for speedrunning such a small game, but I think it's fun because I can figure out all my own strats instead of doing what everyone else has already figured out. So I think maybe we both feel the same way. Also, I'm about to turn 15, so that's cool.
On another note, did you hear Mutant Mudds Super Challenge just came out? Do you think you're going to get it? I'm not quite sure myself, but I'll probably end up getting it.
I knew a new game was coming out soon, but I didnt know it was already released. I would have bought it already if it was on PC, unfortunately it seems this game is only on 3ds and Wii U, I have both console but I don't want to play it on console... But I know myself and I know that I'll get this game soon anyway lol.
