I was wondering if there is a time that we can set up a tournament for this game. Let me know what you guys think.
You mean like races? Or? If so imma have to get back to you in the morning. Late rn.
This afternoon maybe? I don't know when a tournament could happen though
I guess so, but I'm not sure you could get many people to join
Welp, it's worth a try.
When is the tournament?
Tell me if you set up that tournament you were talking about. Speedrun.com's moderators still don't believe my Mario Kart 7 (all cups) run is is achievable, but a tournament will prove that I am not a stranger who puts random times in random games. It's also going to be fun. My time was 1 hour, 10 minutes and 6 seconds.
@Oh_Tassos: First off, we don't know when a tournament is going to happen, it was a suggestion that I had, and it didn't have to be a great suggestion. I'm pretty sure we are going to try to have the tournament this summer. However, like the_illuminati said, "I'm not sure you could get many people to join." Secondly, I'm confused about your All Cups run time, 1:10:06. Did you submit it, and moderators reject it? I find it highly doubtful that your run of 1:10:06 got rejected. Do you have a video of that run?
1:10:06 is kind of impossible. If you look at how optimized the record is, you'll probably know that. You'd have to save an average of 22.5 seconds on each track, which is BS
1:10:06 with loads is 100% impossible. It has to be your time without loads, and that's not how All Cups leaderboard works...
Coming back to the real topic, this tournament is a good idea, I'd be happy to join it ~ We could do a little test before summer with the "active" runners here, and then launch the big one if everything goes well ^^
Good idea CyndaKill-SH, I agree. You didn't think something though. Why would I tell an impossible time to someone who knows what's possible and what's not? The answer is.... That time is... well possible. See (I added the loading time of my run in the time of some other courses). Those are the times (I didn't touch Rainbow Road's and Dino Dino Jungle's times). Toad Circuit: 1:37.702 Daisy Hills: 2:04.656 Cheep Cheep Cape: 1:57.370 Shy Guy Bazaar: 2:36.817 Wuhu Island Loop: 1:42.200 Mario Circuit: 2:25.467 Melody Motorway: 2:16.290 Alpine Pass: 2:33.828 Piranha Plant Pipeway: 2:27.918 Wario's Galleon: 2:29.322 Koopa City: 2:19.122 Wuhu Mountain Loop: 1:46.937 DK Jungle: 2:23.805 Rosalina's Ice World: 2:27.388 Bowser's Castle: 2:39.692 Rainbow Road: 1:56.760 N64 Luigi Raceway: 1:54.272 GBA Bowser Castle 1: 1:31.302 Wii Mushroom Gorge: 2:00.122 DS Luigi's Mansion: 2:11.709 N64 Koopa Troopa Beach: 1:50.001 SNES Mario Circuit 2: 1:32.105 Wii Coconut Mall: 2:25.067 DS Waluigi Pinball: 2:43.081 N64 Kalimari Desert: 2:00.328 DS DK Pass: 2:51.678 GCN Daisy Cruiser: 1:50.994 Wii Maple Treeway: 2:40.398 Wii Koopa Cape: 2:45.752 GCN Dino Dino Jungle: 2:21.892 DS Airship Fortress: 2:19.332 SNES Rainbow Road: 1:26.294
Okay, maybe I was wrong, these times look fine. Anyway, I still don't get how a good run from a top player could lose almost 12 minutes to this one. Even if you're better than Gogoku (which must be the case if this is legit), let's say you can sub 1h20 glitchless. You'd still need to cut 10 extra minutes, and that looks too much to me, even with all glitches (especially since there are only 7 tracks with glitches iirc). Maybe you can go much lower than 1h20 glitchless and that would explain the gap, but given how good Gogoku's run is, it doesn't seem possible to me.
btw you can tell from which part of the world i am just because of the courses' names like koopa city, (it's neo bowser city somewhere else, i think in america) and wuhu mountain loop is maka wuhu in some other places.
You know, 8:16 Mushroom Cup is achievable (I've even seen better runs of the Mushroom Cup). I even kind of messed up GCN Dino Dino Jungle and (the new) Bowser's Castle (and Shy Guy Bazaar). By that I mean that the record is real and that it can be improved. It's ridiculous and the fact that the run wasn't completely perfect makes it even more ridiculous. Do you know how the Super Mario Bros. record improved so much. It's the same with Mario Kart 7, but kind of glitch less. Well you wouldn't say that my Rainbow Road run was glitchy, what I would say is that it was really all down to luck. By the way from everything I saw from your account I can see that you are a Mario fan, but you don't know which records are possible.
I've nearly put 3k hours in this game, I know what's possible and what's not. Where are these better runs which you speak of? Also, how did you time your splits? It might be the whole issue here.
When factoring loading times, some of your splits beat time trials world records.
Really, I don't think so, I checked the time trials and that's not true now let's talk about that 8:16 mushroom cup. Nobody said that mushroom cup's loading time will be added to mushroom cup courses. I added 1/32 of the loading time in each course. You kind of are correct that's probably the issue. I'll answer that silly question (Where are these better runs which you speak of?). The run was sadly not recorded for whatever reason and the run is nowhere to be seen because of the moderators they didn't reject the run, but they didn't show it either. It's like they think it's possible, but they don't want to break the rules and allow a run which is that good, but doesn't have a video. 3K hours? Do you think I'm stupid? Believing that is as difficult as believing that I was 11 minutes faster than the world record holder.
