Any%

The Any% category is very fast. If you're wondering what's up with this speedrun, it's using the registered 2.0 version. You can find copies online, but I don't want to get in trouble for sharing the files myself.

There are 51 speeds for 2.0. They can be adjusted by simply pressing + or - on the keyboard (or assigning those to buttons on a controller). As a result, you'll notice the run speeds up and slows down often throughout the run.

All powerups are also available by single key presses in 2.0, so I make use of them. There is no double shot in 2.0. Other than these differences, the game mostly runs the same as 1.5.

I didn't know what exactly to do with 2.0 that would really differentiate it from the 1.5 Any% run, so I decided to make it a "true" Any% category -- every game kind of needs one!

It's a goofy category. The time can definitely be improved, as there are plenty of mistakes in my PB, but I just wanted a solid proof-of-concept run to put on the boards.

Double Shot

The game allows users to shoot using both Z & Insert (both Insert keys work). You can use this to double your shots. Very useful on the final boss since it takes so many hits.

This a quick reminder that one-to-one keybinding is allowed.

That means you are allowed to assign the default controls to different keys or a controller. However, *every default button must be assigned to a unique button*. For example, you cannot assign both Z and Insert to a single X button on your controller or keyboard.

On a controller, you can use Joy2Key to assign each action separately.

You can also use this to reassign the keys to other keys that you find more comfortable.

Floor Clip Glitch

**Screen transition floor clip**

If you land on the floor when the screen transitions, you can fall through. From there, you can tap right to move to the left. If MicroMan touches where the ground raises, you will fall further. If you are deeper into the ground, you can jump to move further down.

**Floor clip**

Only seems to work on the *demo*.
This will only work on walls that are close to or touching the floor.

1. Drop off of the ledge, ideally on the first possible pixel that drops you.
2. The moment you touch the ground, tap jump and right.
3. Now that you're in the floor, tap right multiple times to position yourself above the left side of the gap in the floor.
4. Now you just need to press left + right + left. I've found that holding the buttons down for slightly longer than a quick tap seems to work best.

***Note:** You can also use this glitch to perform wall jumps, but it's very difficult. I haven't found any uses for it in a speedrun.*

It's also worth noting that you can fall off ledges slightly early if you stop or turn around right at the edge.

Notes about v1.0:

- *There are multiple 1.X versions available, such as 1.0, 1.5, and possibly more.*

- *1.0 runs at about half the speed as 1.5.*

- *Level design in all 1.X versions is nearly the same, with only minor differences that don't impact the speedrun much. The only level-design impact on speedruns is that there aren't any save points in 1.0, which saves a tiny amount of time, but not nearly enough to make up for the game running at half speed.*

Why use the Normal speed for demo speedruns?

The demo has a speed setting option for "Faster" which is supposed to speed up your game, but it doesn't seem to do anything. It may speed up the game for a moment, but I can't tell.

There is also a "Fastest" speed, but it only works for about 1 second before flipping back to Normal speed. There isn't a hotkey for it, so you'd constantly be opening the menu to set the speed and it'd be an annoying speedrun.

If someone's up to the challenge, go for it. It doesn't appeal to me personally.
