Mission Mode Guide (for Speed Runs)
Updated 5 years ago by Riparo

I know barely anyone runs this category(besides myself), but I figured I'd post a guide for what I believe is the best way to go about each and every mission in the game, as well as a recommended order for the characters.

  1. Wario

Wario starts off the run with a set of decently balanced missions... but then hits you with one of the most annoying missions in the entire game. The earlier to get it out of the way, the better.

Mission 1: Table Tennis "Continue a rally!" Required Rally: 12 Chance of Choking: 2/10

Wario's first mission is relatively tame. You simply need to continue a rally with the AI for 12 shots. Keep your shots light, and don't use the Smash at all, unless you're feeling risky. The AI almost always cooperates with you, but there IS the chance that it will simply forget to swing. So... just hope that doesn't happen. XD

Mission 2: Long Jump "Jump perfectly from the foul line!" Required Amount: 2 Chance of Choking: 2-4/10

Missions with this title are VERY misleading. The requirements to "jump perfectly" are as follows: reach your top speed before the speed locks, jump relatively close to the foul line, and get at least a GOOD on the jump.(the bar should be at least half-filled) This particular mission is annoying, as you need to perform this twice in a row, and Long Jump's motion controls are VERY sensitive, compared to the rest of the game.

Mission 3: Dream Table Tennis "Beat your rival!" Opponent: Mario Chance of Choking: 2/10

Simply beat Mario to 50 points to clear this mission. Mario's AI is fairly competent, and All-Around characters' special shots are easy to return, so you'll be able to get decently high rallies, making this mission go by quickly, as long as you play well.

Mission 4: Javelin Throw "Throw as close to the foul line as possible!" Attempts Required: 2 Chance of Choking: 1/10

The only requirement of this mission is to throw RELATIVELY close to the foul line. With Wario's max speed, the best time to throw is right when you see the Wii Remote in the bubble swing down for the 3rd time, and make sure to throw badly, to reduce the javelin's air-time. Do this twice, and you'll clear the mission. Easy.

Mission 5: Fencing "Beat your rival!" Rival: Mario Chance of Choking: 2/10

Beating Mario at Fencing isn't the problem. It's beating him QUICKLY. The fastest methods are to either dash stab him 15 times, hoping he never parries, or try to get as many parry loops as possible.(A parry loop is when you dash stab the opponent in the corner, causing the AI to ALWAYS perform a stab in return, rewarding you with an easy parry stab. You can loop this, with some luck.)

Mission 6: 100m Hurdles "Win with all perfect jumps!" Chance of Choking: 8-9/10

THIS... MISSION. The mission is EXACTLY as annoying as it sounds. You must win the 110m Hurdles, while getting perfectly timed jumps (where you recieve a speed boost) on EVERY HURDLE. Timing is the key to this mission, and there are 3 ways to make your life easier here. First, at max speed, there is about a 1 second gap in-between each jump. Counting "one, one-thousand" as you jump each time may give you success. Second, a good way to time your jumps is by the red crystals that appear above each hurdle. Timing your jump SLIGHTLY after each crystal shatters should yield success. And third, the method I use, is based on the voice clip after each successful perfect jump. Wario's "YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAH!" lasts about a full second, so it's completely possible to time your jump in the final frames of each sound clip. I wish you luck here.

  1. Amy

Amy is the 2nd character on the list. She sports a bunch of easy missions, 1 noticeably chokable mission, and a clone of Wario's final mission. Hooray. -_-

Mission 1: 100m Freestyle "Start at exactly the right time to win!" Chance of Choking: 1/10

A very simple mission, this. All you need to do is jump into the water the moment GO! appears on the screen, and win afterwards. A really good time would be around 46.500 to 47.100.

Mission 2: Dream Platform "Get through the rings!" Required Rings: 5 Chance of Choking: 1/10

Again, nothing too crazy. Perform successful tricks through 5 of the rings, and you must hit the water first. There's at least 7-8 rings that you can hit normally, so this should be a cakewalk. The only annoying part speed-wise is how long it takes for the AIs to hit the water.

Mission 3: 100m "Win with a starting dash!" Chance of Choking: 2/10

And yet again, nothing to worry about. Simply get a starting dash, and win the race. The starting gun's timing is the only annoying part of this event, but it shouldn't be a problem here.

Mission 4: Dream Table Tennis "Finish with a Special Move!" Chance of Choking: 2-5/10

Amy finally throws an interesting mission at us, and the difficulty of this one actually depends on your opponent. Hope for anyone that isn't a power character, as their shots are the most annoying to return normally. The only guideline here is to conserve your meters until you know your next shot will get you to 50, and pray the AI isn't smart of to return your shot.

Mission 5: Fencing "Beat your rival! Rival: Peach Chance of Choking: 2/10

Just another easy Fencing mission. Peach's AI isn't that aggressive, so beating her quickly shouldn't be a problem. Just use the same strategies mentioned in Wario's Fencing mission, and you'll be fine.

Mission 6: 110m Hurdles "Win with all perfect jumps!" Chance of Choking: 8-9/10

Yep... Amy just copies Wario's final mission. Fun. Amy's version of this is slightly harder, as she is faster, making the timing for each jump slightly different. The gem method still works for this mission, so use that, and hope for the best.

  1. Peach

Peach is the start of the Skill characters, and sports a bunch of time-consuming missions, as well as one very inconsistent mission.

Mission 1: 4x100m Freestyle "Finish in the specified time!" Time: 3:21.000 - 3:29.000 Chance of Choking: 3/10

Peach starts off with the first of the timing-based missions, and thankfully, this is the easiest of the bunch. A method I've learned is to start each character somewhat late(around the time of the 2nd swing of the wii remote in a bubble), run out of stamina once with each character, and then proceed normally. This usually nets me a 3:23 to 3:25, depending on the random partners I get. This one should be simple.

Mission 2: Hammer Throw "Let out a shout!" Attempts Required: 3 Chance to Choke: 2-3/10

This mission is somewhat infamous, as the control for letting out a shout is not mentioned in the game's instructions... at all. To let out a shout, you must swing the hammer to max power, and then press the A button right as you release the hammer. Simply perform this 3 times to clear the mission.

Mission 3: Rowing "Win by rowing with max acceleration!" Times required: 10 Chance of Choking: 1/10

The only Rowing mission with an interesting goal! To row with max acceleration(3 red music notes), you must press the correct button, and row the Wii remote as fast as you can. 10 times is a very small amount for this event, so there's no real danger of failing. I also find it easier to perform the Rowing event with just the Wii remote, as there's less buttons to worry about.

Mission 4: 400m "Stagger to the finish line!" Chance of Choking: 4/10

The first of 3 missions with this goal. The objective is to be out of stamina, so your character is "staggering" across the finish line. The easiest way to do this is to keep Peach at just above half full stamina before the Sprint option becomes available. Sprint until Peach runs out of stamina, which should be right at the start of the straightaway. A sprint from there should result in Peach beginning to stagger just in front of the line. Using just the Wii remote is recommended for this event as well, as it is easier to maintain a constant speed, than with the Nunchuck.

Mission 5: Archery "Hit that circle!" Required Circle: 6 Chance of Choking: 7.5/10

Welcome to the first of the 3 Archery missions. I hate 2 of them with a passion, this one included. The only guideline to these missions is to practice them. Hitting the 6 circle isn't TOO annoying of a task. Just pay attention to the wind speed and direction, and plan your shot carefully, but quickly. Thankfully, you get 2 attempts before you would have to reset the mission, so this shouldn't take TOO long.

Mission 6: Trampoline "Perform difficult moves consecutively!" Moves required: 10 Chance of Choking: 2/10

This... is kind of a joke of a final mission, to be brutally honest. The objective is to perform 10 moves in a row with out failing. Just follow the button/motion combinations properly 10 times, and this mission will just fly by.

  1. Tails

Tails can be one of the shortest, or longest characters to complete, depending on your consistency. 2 annoying missions await you here.

Mission 1: Trampoline "Jump 7m high!" Chance of Choking: 0/10

Literally the easiest mission in the game. You have to actively TRY to fail this mission. Simply swing the Wii remote every time Tails hits the Trampoline, and you'll clear this mission in about 15-20 seconds.

Mission 2: High Jump "Jump from the blue zone!" Times Required: 1 Chance of Choking: 1/10

Another easy mission. Get Tails to max speed, and jump from the blue zone on the ground, raising the Nunchuck if necessary. Shouldn't take you more than 30 seconds.

Mission 3: Hammer Throw "Throw right in the center!" Times Required: 3 Chance of Choking: 3/10

This is Peach's Hammer Throw mission, minus the shouting. Simply get the hammer to max power, and throw in the center 3 times. Nothing too complicated.

Mission 4: Triple Jump "Jump perfectly from the foul line!" Times Required: 2 Chance of Choking: 3-4/10

Think of Wario's Long Jump mission, only now it's Triple Jump. Just make sure every jump is at least a GOOD, and you'll pass. The Nunchuck jump is always finicky, so be careful.

Mission 5: 4x100m Relay "Finish in the specified placing!" Place Required: 2nd Chance of Choking: 5-6/10

Oof... this mission's just a pain to play. The objective is to get 2nd, but all of the AIs decide to do a slow jog around the track. Simply keep pace with them all, making sure not to go too fast, and you should be able to tell who's in 1st place by the final runners. Stay just barely behind them, and you should pass. Just hope that 2 of the AIs aren't really close together, or you may have to reset the random teams.

Mission 6: Archery "Hit that circle!" Circle Required: 2 Chance of Choking: 9/10

This is by far the most annoying of the 3 Archery missions. The 2 circle is a very annoying goal to shoot on command... and if the wind is diagonal, it just makes things worse. Expect to reset this mission a few times, unless you get a really nice/lucky shot.

  1. Waluigi

Everyone's favorite rejected Smash Bros. character brings a very balanced set of missions to the table. Nothing too annoying, nothing too easy.

Mission 1: Javelin Throw "Throw the specified distance!" Distance Required: 30 - 50m Chance of Choking: 2/10

The easiest of the distance missions for Javelin Throw. The moment you see the Speed Locked notification, simply throw a bad throw(red meter, way over the top of the meter), it usually lands around the 34-36m range. Simple.

Mission 2: Pole Vault "Jump from the blue zone!" Times required: 3 Chance of Choking: 2/10

A very time consuming mission. Run up to maximum speed, and swing the Wii remote down as late as you can in the blue zone, going for a GREAT. This ensures an easier build-up of recoil to clear the bar. Perform this 3 times, and the mission is done.

Mission 3: Trampoline: "Perform difficult moves consecutively!" Moves Required: 7 Chance of Choking: 1.5/10

This is the same as Peach's Trampoline mission, only with less moves to perform. You shouldn't have a problem here.

Mission 4: 4x100m Freestyle "Finish in the specified placing!" Placing Needed: 3rd Chance of Choking: 4-5/10

The first of many placing missions. This is slightly easier than most of them, as long as the team you get isn't too weird. Simply let 2 of the AIs pass you, and stay ahead of 4th place. If the last 2 AIs are really close together for most of the race... pray you get in-between them.

Mission 5: Rowing "Beat your rival!" Rival: Luigi Chance of Choking: 1-2/10

Just a simple race against Luigi. His AI is just as average as the others', so you should be able to win the race without a problem.

Mission 6: 400m Hurdles "Pass your rival!" Rival: Luigi Handicap: 4 seconds Chance of Choking: 2/10

This mission may seem hard, but it's actually very easy. Even with a 4 seconds handicap, Waluigi's impressive stamina helps him catch up to Luigi before you even reach the sprinting section. Simply wait until around the 2nd to last hurdle to start sprinting, to avoid staggering.

  1. Dr. Eggman

The final Skill character, and one of the bigger choking points in the run. Most of his missions are actually pretty fun.

Mission 1: Archery "Hit that circle!" Circle Required: 9 Chance of Choking: 3/10

Eggman starts out with the easiest of the Archery missions. Most of the time, aiming for a 10 with the wind, and then moving slightly to the left or right will result in an easy 9.

Mission 2: Rowing "Finish in the specified placing!" Placing required: 2nd Chance of Choking: 6.5/10

Easily the most annoying placing mission in the game. A consistent method I've found is to constantly get 1-2 note strokes in the 1st half of the race. This can result in one of the AIs shooting ahead, while the other 2 stay behind you. Simply stay ahead of the two of them, while not going faster than 1st place, and you should clear this in 1 try.

Mission 3: Hammer Throw "Throw the specified distance!" Distance Required: 50 - 55m Chance of Choking: 1/10

A very easy Hammer Throw mission, and a chance to relax your arms during the run. Don't gain power, and throw in the center on the last swing. You should always get 52-53m. If you go slightly left or right, you have a chance of going below 50m, so be careful.

Mission 4: Fencing "Win without being parried!" Times to be Parried: 6 Chance of Choking: 2/10

Not as hard as you'd think. Simply play smart, but fast. Eggman's swings are slow, but long, so take advantage of your range. Getting parry loops always helps too.

Mission 5: Skeet "Shoot targets with the small crosshairs!" Targets Required: 3 Chance of Choking: 2-5/10

The difficulty of this mission depends on both the station you get, and how good you are at shooting accurately with the small crosshairs. Pray you get a station with more than 4 targets, and the moment you shoot 3, shoot whatever bullets you have left as fast as you can. This shouldn't take long.

Mission 6: Dream Table Tennis "Win without using Special Moves!" Chance of Choking: 3-5/10

An interesting final mission for Eggman, but annoying. Depending on what random character you get for an opponent, this could be easy or hard. Just play smart, and learn to deal with Eggman's laggy racket swings. You should be okay, for the most part.

  1. Knuckles

Heading back up to the Power characters, Knuckles has a set of mostly average missions, with 1 randomly hard mission, to throw you off.

Mission 1: Javelin Throw "Throw the specified distance!" Distance Required: 40 - 50m Chance of Choking: 2.5/10

Knuckles starts us off with a slightly harder version of Waluigi's Javelin Throw mission. This time, you'll need to wait until around when the Wii remote in the bubble is about to reach the bottom of its second swing. This should land you in the 44-46m range.

Mission 2: Fencing "Win after parrying! Parries Required: 5 Chance of Choking: 4-5/10

The first of 2 missions with this goal, and while not hard to simply beat, it is very inconsistent to beat FAST. The AI is usually VERY passive, meaning your best bet of getting the 5 parries necessary is to force parry loops on them. Once you obtain your 5th parry, simply dash stab the AI until the mission is passed.

Mission 3: Skeet "Shoot the fast targets!" Targets Required: 2 Chance of Choking: 2/10

This is the easier version of Skeet missions, as you have the ability to make your reticle larger. As long as you get a GOOD or OK on the reticle part of the event, you shouldn't have any problems shooting 2 of the targets flying in, no matter which station it is. Just practice this beforehand, if you aren't as accurate as you should.

Mission 4: 400m "Beat your rival!" Rival: Vector Chance of Choking: 1/10

One of the easiest 400m missions, if not the easiest. Knuckles, like the other Power characters, has an amazing stamina stat. Use the single Wii remote strat, and don't start your sprint until the final straightaway. You should be able to get a 38-39 second time.

Mission 5: Table Tennis "Beat your rival!" Rival: Blaze Chance of Choking: 5-6/10

Okay... this mission. The Blaze AI in this Table Tennis match is better than ANY other AI in the game, and I'm not exaggerating this. She will consistently have 20+ rallies with you, and it's almost always completely random when she decides to miss or hit the ball off the table by mistake. You NEED to know your Table Tennis if you want to beat her without her scoring too many times. There's no strategy... just make sure you're good at this event.

Mission 6: Dream Fencing "Beat your rival!" Rival: Dr. Eggman Chance of Choking: 1.5/10

Just a basic Dream Fencing match against Eggman. His stabs are laggy, and very telegraphed. One nice strategy is that whenever Eggman is stabbed while in the corner, he will ALWAYS try to stab back. This makes him the easiest character to parry loop, thus making this mission extremely easy. If you can't parry loop him, you can still avoid his stabs pretty easily. It's a very underwhelming final mission for Knuckles.

  1. Bowser

The King Koopa finally gets his turn... and he brings along some relatively annoying missions. But, he IS the halfway point, so you can be happy for that.

Mission 1: Pole Vault "Recoil to clear the bar!" Times Required: 2 Chance of Choking: 1/10

Bowser leads off with an extremely easy mission. Control is automatic, until Bowser plants the pole. He will always run at a slow speed, and plants the pole with a BAD, so all you need to do is swing the Wii remote and Nunchuck as fast as you can, so Bowser clears the bar twice. An easy strategy I use for most events where you need to shake the Wii remote is to vibrate both controllers in your hands. This ensures you're staying at the fastest speed possible.

Mission 2: Javelin Throw "Throw the specified distance!" Distance Required: 50 - 55m Chance of Choking: 3.5/10

The hardest of the Javelin distance missions. With Bowser's top speed, you're going to need to wait until when the Wii remote in the bubble is in-between its 2nd and 3rd swings. Make sure to overthrow the javelin, and it should land in the 52-53m range.

Mission 3: 400m Hurdles "Don't knock down any hurdles!" Time to Aim For: 45.000 - 53.000 Chance of Choking: 5/10

Bowser throws a curve ball mission at you, in the form of a mission with multiple requirements. The first, and harder part is to not knock over any hurdles. The gem strat can do wonders for you here, but your timing will need to be pretty precise, and Bowser's hitbox is very deceiving. The time goal is actually fairly easy. All you need to do is keep a steady speed(near the red section of the meter) until you jump the final hurdle. Sprinting to the line from there will net you a 48-49 second time.

Mission 4: Hammer Throw "Throw the specified distance!" Distance Required: 50 - 55m Chance of Choking: 1/10

This is a copy/paste of Eggman's Hammer Throw mission. Don't build power, and throw right in the center. You should land a 51-52m every time.

Mission 5: Table Tennis "Smash the ball to win!" Required Points: 7 Chance of Choking: 4/10

Yet another mission involving Bowser's sheer power. You need to score 7 points, and the only way they'll count is if you score with a Smash. The AI doesn't always cooperate, so expect a somewhat lengthy mission, if you're unlucky. The main thing to remember is that Bowser's hurtbox is extremely large, so try to swing slightly earlier than you'd expect.

Mission 6: Dream Fencing "Knock your opponent out of bounds!" Times Required: 2 Chance of Choking: 3/10

This mission is deceptively easy. The AI is decently aggressive in this fight, so it's easy to parry them once, and dash them over towards the edge. Simply build a meter from there, and knock them out of the ring. The 2nd time may be a bit harder, but try to make sure the 2nd ring out fully depletes their health, to avoid wasted time on animations.

  1. Vector

The money-loving detective croc is up next, and he's got another major choking point for the run in his missions, thanks to RNG.

Mission 1: 100m Freestyle "Finish within the specified time!" Time Required: 48.000 to 51.000 Chance of Choking: 3/10

Vector leads off with a timing mission, with a very small amount of room for error. The strategy for Peach's mission can be applied here. Start the race without charging, and intentionally run yourself out of stamina once, then play the rest of the race as normal. This should net you a late 49 to early 50 second time.

Mission 2: Rowing "Beat your rival!" Rival: Bowser Chance of Choking: 1.5/10

Another tame Rowing mission, as all you need to do is place higher than Bowser, or just win. The only annoying part of the mission is Vector's constant repeating of "Doing good!" whenever he strokes successfully. If you can ignore that for a minute, you're fine. XD

Mission 3: 4x100m Freestyle "Finish in the specified placing!" Placing Required: 2nd Chance of Choking: 3-4/10

Another placing mission, and a tricky one to get consistently. Let one AI pass you, and hope the other 2 don't get too close to them. Most of the time, this mission depends on who gets the tall characters, as they can get a lead simply from being able to push off farther from the wall. All I can say is to hope RNG likes you in that regard.

Mission 4: Dream Table Tennis "Beat your rival!" Rival: Yoshi Chance of Choking: 2/10

One of Vector's only calm missions. Yoshi's AI acts like a normal one, so you shouldn't have any trouble in defeating him. The only issue is if his AI decides to give you long rallies or not.

Mission 5: Skeet "Shoot the fast targets!" Targets Required: 3 Chance of Choking: 4/10

This is Knuckles' Skeet mission, but with one extra target you need to shoot. The strategy is the same. Get a GOOD or OK on the reticle, and hope you got a good station. And again, make sure to quickly fire off extra bullets once you shoot 3 targets.

Mission 6: Dream Race "Finish in the specified placing!" Placing Required: 2nd Chance of Choking: 8-9/10

And now we arrive at the most poorly designed event for Mission Mode. Dream Race is essentially Mario Kart: Running Edition. The RNG involved with items can make or break your run. And the worst part about this... is that you need to place 2nd. There is no strategy here. Just pray RNG lets only 1 AI stay in front of you when you cross the finish line.

  1. Mario

The first of the game's 2 mascots, and pretty much the easiest set of missions in the game. You can finish all of Mario's missions in around 5 minutes, with practice.

Mission 1: Long Jump "Jump perfectly from the foul line!" Times Required: 1 Chance of Choking: 1/10

Mario leads off with a shorter version of Wario's Long Jump mission. Just make sure you're relatively close to the foul line, and get at least a GOOD jump. Nothing too crazy.

Mission 2: 100m Freestyle "Finish in the specified placing!" Placing Required: 1st Chance of Choking: 0/10

Unless you don't practice the swimming events, it's impossible to lose at this event. The AIs are slightly worse than the normal game's ones, so winning the race isn't difficult in the slightest.

Mission 3: Skeet "Shoot targets with the small crosshairs!" Targets Required: 1 Chance of Choking: 1/10

The easiest variant of this type of mission. With only 1 target required to hit, you can actually clear this mission by spamming all of your shots at the 1 target you need to hit. Just... make sure you're accurate, that's all. XD

Mission 4: Trampoline "Perform difficult moves consecutively!" Moves Required: 5 Chance of Choking: 1/10

Mario yet again receives the easiest variant of this type of Trampoline mission. 5 moves go by very quickly, and the patterns Mario receives are actually simpler than the Skill characters'.

Mission 5: Dream Fencing "Win with a Special Move!" Chance of Choking: 2/10

Mario finally receives a harder mission, but unfortunately, it's still an easy goal for this event. All you need to do is make sure you have 1 or 2 meters built up, and the moment you see your opponent's health hit the red, use them all. If they AI somehow parries you, quickly build up another meter by feinting repeatedly(the B button), or getting a few parries.

Mission 6: 100m "Beat your rival!" Rival: Sonic Chance of Choking: 4/10

Here it is. The race between the icons... and it's actually a bit challenging. 0_o The trick here is to get as close to a perfect start as possible, and then focus your entire attention on your speed meter. Sonic's AI is perfect at acceleration, but terrible at starting. So if you get that perfect start, you're in the clear. Maintain as close to max speed as you can, and you should beat Sonic by a decently wide margin.(getting a 9.475 is the ideal time)

  1. Luigi

The man, the myth, the legend. Luigi comes in with a fair set of missions, with 1 or 2 of them being tricky to do in a quick manner.

Mission 1: Triple Jump "Jump perfectly from the foul line!" Times Required: 1 Chance of Choking: 1.5/10

An easier version of Tails' Triple Jump mission. The only real hard part of this mission is possible nerves, if you've gotten this far on a good paced run. Just stay calm, and time your jumps carefully.

Mission 2: 4x100m Freestyle "Finish within the specified time!" Time Required: 3:21.000 to 3:25.000 Chance of Choking: 4/10

This is Peach's 4x100m Freestyle mission, but with a tighter time goal. The same strategy should work here, but the choice of random partners here could mess up your time. A guideline I usually follow is that your final character should be kicking off the wall at around 2:55-2:56.

Mission 3: Dream Platform "Destroy the blocks!" Specific Rules: Destroy 6 blocks, hit the water 1st Chance of Choking: 2.5/10

Easily Luigi's most time-consuming mission. Hitting 6 blocks on the way down is a surprising easy task, but reaching the water first after all those hits is slightly harder than you'd think. The best tip I can give is to aim Luigi at the space between a block and a ring. You'll hit the block, but go into the ring's animation, so you won't slow down. Other than that, try to get Shield items to reduce your time a bit, and hit any stray rings you can find.

Mission 4: 400m "Stagger to the finish line!" Chance of Choking: 4/10

Luigi's version of this mission is actually a bit harder than Peach's, since Luigi has MUCH better stamina. The only strat that's consistent for me is this: Make sure Luigi's stamina is as close to half as possible when the sprint notification pops up, and let Luigi stagger. This should put you at the start of the straightaway. A sprint from here should stagger Luigi just in front of the line, but you may need to let go of the sprint once to re-time your stagger. I would give this mission a few practice runs to get the timing down.

Mission 5: Dream Table Tennis "Win and score 10 points in one rally!" Chance of Choking: 4-5/10

This is Luigi's most inconsistent mission. Winning isn't hard, but the requirement of having one of your scoring rallies being 10 or above is a LOT harder than it sounds. The AI is set to its lowest difficulty, and almost NEVER cooperates, unless you're lucky. Pray for a character with a special shot you can return without your own special, as the AI almost never returns a special shot. If you see the rally reach 10, mash your special shot, and get the requirement out of the way.

Mission 6: Dream Fencing "Beat your rival!" Rival: Waluigi Chance of Choking: 1/10

Just a straightforward event against Waluigi. Play smart, parry loop when you can, and try not to knock him out of the ring. That animation is a time loss, even if it's the shot that depletes Waluigi's health.

  1. Blaze

Blaze comes in to close out the All-Around characters with a set of 5 mediocre missions, and 1 mission that has a very high chance of ruining the run.

Mission 1: 4x100m Freestyle "Finish in the specified placing!" Placing Required: 1st Chance of Choking: 0/10

Blaze starts out with the easiest 4x100m mission in the game. Make sure to get as many perfect stamina boosts as you can, and hope you don't get a slow team.

Mission 2: Triple Jump "Jump perfectly from the foul line!" Times Required: 1 Chance of Choking: 1/10

Copy/paste from both Luigi and Tails. You know the drill with this one. Relatively close to the foul line, and all GOOD jumps. You know this. XP

Mission 3: 400m "Pass your rival!" Rival: Amy Chance of Choking: 2/10

Essentially an easier version of Waluigi's 400m Hurdles mission. There's no hurdles to worry about here, and you only get a 2 second handicap here. Apply the Wii remote only strategy here, and you should catch up and pass Amy WELL before you reach the final sprint.

Mission 4: Vault "Recover from a stagger on landing!" Times Required: 2 Chance of Choking: 0/10

This is the ONLY type of mission they could come up with for Vault... it's disappointing, really. Anyway, control is automatic until Blaze lands, so just swing the Wii remote and Nunchuck as fast as you can until the blue circle appears. Repeat one more time, and you're done. What a mission!

Mission 5: 110m Hurdles "Beat your rival!" Rival: Peach Chance of Choking: 1/10

Just your classic 110m Hurdles race, with Peach as a slightly above average AI. Just try to get as many jump boosts as possible, and you should beat her by a long shot.

Mission 6: Dream Race "Win without colliding with other racers!" Chance of Choking: 7-8/10

Dream Race rears its ugly head again... and this goal isn't any easier. First off, if Blaze's hitbox even so much as GRAZES another racer's, you lose. You need to get ahead, and STAY ahead, by any means necessary, which is WAY easier said than done. Second, this particular Dream Race has a completely different layout than the traditional course, making it harder to not hit any obstacles. Third... RNG is a thing. Lightning and Chaos Emeralds are your worst nightmare here. If you get a Star, HOLD ONTO IT. Other than that... good luck. XD

  1. Sonic

The other main mascot of the game finally gets his turn! And... his missions are fast, and annoying. Great.

Mission 1: Long Jump "Jump perfectly from the foul line!" Times Required: 1 Chance of Choking: 1/10

Maximum speed. GOOD jump. Relatively close to foul line. Moving on.

Mission 2: High Jump "Clear with jumps only!" Times Required: 1 Chance of Choking: 0/10

Sonic has max power here(4 music notes), so clearing the bar isn't a problem. SImply run up at full speed, and jump from the blue zone. The catch? DON'T move the Nunchuck after you jump. You will fail, if you do so. So... don't do that.

Mission 3: Dream Race "Finish in the specified placing!" Place Required: 2nd Chance of Choking: 7-8/10

And Dream race comes back for one last round! Hooray! This is EXACTLY as bad as Vector's mission, and again... RNG plays too much into this event to make a good strategy. There IS no consistency with this event... You just have to be lucky, and that's not fun in a speed run. Thank goodness this is the last Dream Race...

Mission 4: Dream Platform "Reach the specified speed!" Speed Required: 170 mph Chance of Choking: 1/10

To be honest? I love this mission, just to see how fast I can get Sonic to go. 170 mph is a very easy speed to reach. You can combine the speed-ups of 2 consecutive ring boosts, or get yourself a Mushroom, and use it after a ring boost. The only other requirement is hitting the water first... and you're performing a mission about reaching top speed... Hitting the water first isn't even a challenge. XD

Mission 5: 400m Hurdles "Stagger to the finish line!" Additional Goal: Get 1st. Chance of Choking: 4/10

Sonic receives the final staggering mission, and he has it the worst, since both hurdles are in play, and he has the 2nd worst stamina stat in the game, next to Shadow. Use a single Wii remote, so you have a consistent speed. Make sure to have full stamina when the sprint notification pops up, and stagger yourself the first time. Wait until you're about to jump the final hurdle before sprinting again, and your stamina should run out close to the line. You may have to adjust yourself, depending on how far ahead of the other racers you are, but you should win the race by a wide margin.

Mission 6: 100m "Win with a super starting dash!" Chance of Choking: 2.5/10

The game doesn't explain this term well, so here's how this works. You just need to start the race the moment GO! appears. You'll know if you did it right, if Sonic yells out "Come on!" as he starts. After that, you just need to win, which is really easy, since you're Sonic. You just gotta go fast. =3

  1. Daisy

The tomboy princess of the Mario universe rounds out the female characters, and her missions feel like she somewhat copied Bowser. Go figure.

Mission 1: Javelin Throw "Throw as close to the foul line as possible!" Times Required: 1 Chance of Choking: 1/10

Daisy starts off with a quick Javelin mission. Run up as fast as possible, and perform a BAD throw right when the Wii remote in the bubble is about to swing down for the 3rd time. Easy.

Mission 2: Skeet "Shoot the fast targets!" Targets Required: 1 Chance of Choking: 1/10

Another quick mission for Daisy. Get an OK or GOOD on the reticle, and quickly shoot down 1 fast target, before shooting away the remaining ammo. If you're not as accurate as you want to be, hope for a station with more targets, like station 4.

Mission 3: 400m Hurdles "Finish with knocking down hurdles!" Time Requirement: 45.000 to 53.000 Chance of Choking: 3-5/10

As I said, Daisy copies a few of Bowser's missions. Her version is actually easier, since her hitbox is smaller, and she's a lot faster than Bowser. If anything, I wouldn't sprint at all, just to make sure you clear every hurdle, and don't finish the race before the 45 second mark.

Mission 4: Vault "Recover from a stagger on landing!" Times Required: 2 Chance of Choking: 0/10

Just as easy as Blaze's version of the mission. Control is yet again automatic until Daisy starts staggering. Just swing until the blue circles appear, and you can move on.

Mission 5: High Jump "Clear with jumps only!" Times Required: 2 Chance of Choking: 0-1/10

Just the same as Sonic's High Jump mission, but with one extra jump. Again, DON'T move the Nunchuck after you jump, and you'll be okay.

Mission 6: Table Tennis "Smash the ball to win!" Times Required: 5 Chance of Choking: 2/10

Again... Daisy copies Bowser's mission, but with less points to earn. Just smash the ball as much as you can, the AI isn't that good at returning more than 3-4 shots. Watch for return smashes though, the AI likes to surprise you with those.

  1. Shadow

The ultimate life form gets his chance... and he just wants to beat everyone at everything. XD

Mission 1: 100m Freestyle "Beat your rival!" Rival: Tails Chance of Choking: 0/10

Shadow's mission are all about just winning the events, and his first mission might be the easiest. Shadow is the fastest swimmer in the games(not counting Miis), so beating Tails should be a snap.

Mission 2: Dream Fencing "Win by knocking your opponent out of bounds!" Times Required: 1 Chance of Choking: 1/10

An easier version of Bowser's Dream Fencing mission. Parry your opponent, and dash them to the edge of the screen, then start whaling on them until they go into the red. The moment they do, use as many Specials as you can, and knock them out of bounds for the win. You don't NEED to win with the out-of-bounds, it's just faster to make that the winning shot.

Mission 3: 110m Hurdles "Beat your rival!" Rival: Blaze Chance of Choking: 1/10

Another hurdles race, and another event that Shadow is fastest in. Finishing before Blaze should be quick and easy.

Mission 4: Rowing "Beat your rival!" Rival: Vector Chance of Choking: 1/10

Shadow may not be the fastest in this event, but he can still out-pace Vector. Single Wii remote style is again better here, with less buttons to worry about. Staying ahead of Vector shouldn't be a problem.

Mission 5: 400m "Beat your rival!" Rival: Sonic Chance of Choking: 2-3/10

Shadow finally gets a harder event, and it's still not that bad, if you use just the Wii remote. Do your best to stay out of the red zone of the meter at all times, until the final sprint, as Shadow's stamina depletes fully in just over a second. Just be careful, and only sprint when you reach the final straightaway.

Mission 6: 100m "Beat your rival!" Rival: Sonic Chance of Choking: 4-5/10

Shadow ends with a copy of Mario's final event. You'll need to get a near-perfect start to initially shoot ahead of Sonic, as Sonic speeds up faster than Shadow does. As long as Shadow is in front of Sonic when you reach top speed, you've already won the mission. If you start te race near Sonic, you might have to restart.

  1. Yoshi

And Nintendo's favorite dinosaur gets to finish the run! His missions are all fairly easy, and a great way to end the hours of waving your arms around.

Mission 1: Hammer Throw "Throw right in the center!" Times Required: 1 Chance of Choking: 1/10

Yoshi leads off with a shorter version of Tails' Hammer Throw mission. Just charge up and throw at the exclamation point once, and you're done.

Mission 2: High Jump "Jump from the blue zone!" Times Required: 2 Chance of Choking: 1/10

This is Tails' High Jump mission, but with an extra jump. Just run at max speed, and jump from the blue zone to clear the bar twice.

Mission 3: Fencing "Win after parrying!" Times to Parry: 6 Chance of Choking: 3-4/10

Just like Knuckles' parrying mission, it's easy to beat the AI, but getting the AI to cooperate quickly is the problem. Just try to read the AI's movements, or try to force a parry loop on them. It's slightly random if they'll cooperate or not.

Mission 4: Table Tennis "Continue a rally!" Required Rally: 15 Chance of Choking: 2-3/10

Just like Wario's, this mission is tame. As long as you don't use any smashes, the AI will cooperate, most of the time. Not much else to say here.

Mission 5: 100m Freestyle "Finish within the specified time!" Time Required: 48.000 to 50.000 Chance of Choking: 5/10

The last, and the most annoying timing mission in the game. This is a VERY small margin of time, so you'll need to use the strategy from the other timing events perfectly. Start on GO! without charging up power, and swim until you run out of stamina the first time, then continue as normal. With Yoshi's speed, you'll have to slow down right at the end to avoid being under the 48 second mark, but not TOO slow, or you might miss the 50 second mark. It's honestly too small of a margin to get a consistent time. Try to practice this one a few times, to get a feel for the timing of the ending. You shouldn't have a problem with this one after a few tries.

Mission 6: 4x100m Relay "Win with a perfect relay!" Chance of Choking: 2-3/10

The final mission for Yoshi, and the run, is actually not as hard as you'd think. A perfect relay is just getting GREATs on all 3 relays to your partners. A good way to tell the timing is to listen to how much time is in-between the character passing the baton's quote, and the character receiving the baton's quote. You want the 2 quotes to nearly connect with one-another. Once you see the 3rd GREAT, you're in the clear.

And that's the guide... hope I didn't miss any details, and I hope at least someone who reads this decides to try a run for themselves at some point. Enjoy, and happy speed running!
