Track and field guide - speedrun strategy beginner difficulty
Updated 10 months ago by MrfilipsoN

This guide would explain my tips and tricks on how to do a track and field event for beginner difficulty as fast as possible:

The difficulty level of the CPU matters, so the strategy covered here would rather work only for this difficulty. For the run to be verified, we need to win the championships, meaning we get the most points out of every CPU opponent. The general strategy valid for all difficulties would be to minimize replays from appearing on screen (usually by being first in a discipline or breaking the "world record").

Sprint:

In my opinion, the best way to finish it is to purposely run slowly to finish between 7th and 3rd place. The game goes to the score table when all contestants cross the finish line. Being first triggers a replay, which loses about 2–3 seconds

Javelin:

The fastest way to complete it is to throw quick fouls just after the start. To do this, grab your javelin, then put your hand behind your hand, and when releasing the hand, point it to the far left or far right side of the sensor. Shoot the javelin flat to minimize airtime but don't make the throw too short because that would trigger the "threw early" sign to try again which loses valuable time.

Long jump:

There is not much to say there. After "raising your hand to play," Run as fast as you can ( remember, lifting your knees helps), dont jump, and make three quick foul jumps

Discus:

This discipline is tricky because you can save a lot time here. Ideally, we want to throw the discus no further than 6 meters because this is still the starting "orange" area where an npc would not measure our shot and the game will quickly allow us to make next shot. To do this, you can try to throw the discus as if you were throwing a bowling ball. What I am doing is, after grabbing a disc, i quickly release my hand sideways, which usually gives me a result of 5 to 15 meters. Throwing more than 20 meters triggers a replay so try to avoid throwing it far

Hurdles:

This is the most important discipline of the whole run because here we are gaining all the points needed to win the whole competition. We need to complete hurdles as fast as we can. Beginner CPU's run very slowly, so when the time advantage is large enough, all of them are unqualified and get 0 points for hurdles. In order to be fast, you need to lean forward at the start of the run and listen to the sound cue. After commentator say "On your marks", there are three heartbeat sounds. After third heartbeat ends, you immediately stand up ( this gives you a start boost) and run, remembering to lift your knees to maximise the speed. When a hurdle lights green, DO NOT jump right away; jump when you are "physically" close to it but not so close to crash into it. A light jump should be registered by Kinect. Continue the run by applying this strategy. After last hurdle, there is almost a finish line so lean forward before it to get the ending boost. Ideally, a time lower than 14:50 guarantees the disqualification of all CPUs, but I think a time before 15 seconds would also do the trick, effectively putting you in first place.

Below, I will put a link to my run, where i try to execute most of the strategies provided. I will also put the link to the "RARE" track and field guide, which explains hurdles in a very understandable manner.
