Notes on horizontal movement

# Speed
(without wind or conveyors)

* Jubilee has a maximum of 2.5.
* Dax has a maximum of 3.33, but is reduced to 2.5 in the air specifically when moving left (more below).
* Speed over maximum is reduced to cap immediately regardless of if any buttons are held.

# Acceleration
(when left or right is held, even if against current speed)

* Jubilee accelerates at 0.25.
* Dax accelerates at 0.1, or 0.25 in the air. Jumping is slightly better when moving right from standstill.

# Deceleration
(when neither or both directions are held, or during a cutscene)

* Jubilee decelerates at 0.33. This is slightly higher than her acceleration, which can be relevant for sharply turning.
* Dax decelerates at 0.1, or 0.33 during cutscenes.

# Walljumps

* Jubilee jumps off with an initial speed of 2.5, her maximum.
* Dax jumps off with an initial speed of 1.11, his maximum divided by three.
* For 14 frames or until landing, the game simulates holding the direction away from the wall. This means Dax reaches maximum aerial speed 10 frames after walljumping to the right, or 7 frames after walljumping to the left.
* For 30 frames or until landing, deceleration is divided by 5 after a walljump. This does not apply to acceleration.

# Dax quick-pivot

Due to an oversight, Dax has strange interactions when changing directions in midair, listed as follows:

* moving left in the air has a maximum speed of 2.5 (which seems to be the intended outcome)
* moving right in the air has the regular maximum of 3.33
* being in the air while moving left with a speed **greater than or equal to** 2.5 and pressing right immediately sets your speed to 2.5 moving right
* being in the air while moving right with a speed **equal to** 2.5 and pressing left immediately sets your speed to 2.5 moving left

The most practical application appears to be climbing isolated left walls faster, by:

* walljumping to the right
* waiting 14 frames for input to be returned, where speed would be 3.33
* waiting another 4 frames without input for the reduced deceleration to set the speed to 3.25
* holding left, flipping speed to -2.50 after 3 frames and reaching the wall faster than normal
