I think I'm going to make full world IL's to show off the route for this category. This will not be for leaderboard submissions but will serve as an asset for the route.
I'm also making a change in world 1. We can just wait until 1-A to get the fireflower. The only time we will need a reserve is for the world 2 boss and we will have an autoscroller before him. The idea of hoping for a fireflower in 1-Tower will still apply though. I timed it and you lose approximately 1 RTA second from not having fireballs.
I think powerups are a good idea but having a reserve would complicate things way too much. I think we should pick a powerup and stick to it.
I have learned all of cannonless I just need practice. And yeah if I do make it one year anyone who wants to be on the couch could be.
Any% would be safe for a marathon thanks to mushroom houses. But getting to a GDQ would be hard for me. But one day the race will happen OpieOP

Honestly the route would be nearly identical. The only major difference would be that we would need to reset for the shell for the tower secret in world 1. Other than that the only other difference would just be completing certain levels twice for both exits.
It is possible to run this game on emulator, I believe Dolphin is used but I'm not 100% sure. One thing to keep in mind when running on emulator is that it is faster than console but slower than Wii U virtual console. The differences are from loading times.
World 4 has already been routed. And the category would be fun. It would probably be the most challenging category though because there are a lot of levels that revolve around taking no damage in order to keep either the shell or mini mario.
To be honest, the category would be pretty close to All Levels. The run would only have like 3 minutes of difference. You would still need the star coins too.

I just finished routing 6-2 and we will definitely not be getting a mini mushroom there. The level is very cycle based and things just work way too well with normal mario.
The IL TAS of 6-3 does the pipe skip with normal mario so I'd say there's no need for mini. Mini would help a ton on the end of 6-2 though. I'll have to do lots of testing

Wow I'm so silly I absolutely messed up on 5-3... Should be an easy fix though. I was writing world 5 in 2 segments and I accidentally interwtined them in the wrong way. Anyways 6-2 is a stupid level, a stupid level that has a mini mushroom in it. I don't think it's useful but it's there. I found a solution for mini Mario on 6-3. We have to take the top route at the end. It wastes
I have accidentally gotten a good pattern but when I did I had a 42 so I was slower making it there. We will definitely find better strats though.
Thank you for fixing my 5-3 time haha. I am so used to getting 63's with a shell I thought I had a 63 in my IL
Well that section at the end without a mushroom/flower is basically death. There is probably an altetnate mushroom we could grab near the end for backup though if we had to get a mini mushroom.

Here is my version of the 7-2 autoscroller skip. The only hard jump is the one off that red koopa near the middle. Please excuse the 2 mistakes I make after the final koopas. And I totally agree red mushroom houses are a good backup. This run is going to be pretty hard with the current route.
