Bumping this 'cause why not lel
Not much has changed in 5 years, except that I live on my own now and have a connection that doesn't suck xD
As well as the fact I run plenty of games today, back in the day when I began it was all GT2.
Strider_503 on Reddit is responsible for creating this stunning wallpaper. :)
Technically speaking, no. Since any% is done from a clear or non-existing save file, selecting the Test Driver wouldn't be possible. I can always create a misc category for that purpose, though. Like Marshall said, he is unlocked and thus he is not part of the start of the game.
I'll let his run slide for now, he can improve a lot anyway :D I honestly didn't check the run, I'm a lazy mod but rightfully so, as runs come in very occasionally.
But just to be thorough it should always be the norm for any leaderboard that any% starts from square one, unless it's NG+ or something.
The unexpected happened to me now. :D Before I was always able to win but this time, the AI fought back big time.
Hey guys,
Sorry for butting in, but I noticed all of you stop the timer when you skip Ramses' speech. That is not the exact timing, I even saw you copied the rules from the PS1 page, which says "timer stops as the corpse of Ramses is picked up"
That's all :p I just feel like it's pointless to delay it for a moment later, as his speech automatically transitions to the ending sequence.
Thebpg13's new PB (and by extent, WR), proved NTSC is just as fast as PAL. Props to SCE(A) for optimizing the game in that regard.
I know PAL sucks but since it's my native region I'll stay true to it no matter what :)
Actually, the load times are the same between NTSC and PAL. What NTSC has the advantage over however is the game speed.
(Naturally PS1 is slower thanks to PS2 having FDS but who tf would use a PS1 for speedrunning?)
After watching Thebpg13 finish his first console run with NTSC, we learned that NTSC is roughly 10 minutes faster than PAL (Stock Car all races).
Since my best so far, with lots of effort, is 59min flat and Thebpg13 managed 50:15 with a casual run without much effort.
Just putting this in here so people are aware :P
Or alternatively you can just show the screen after you stop the timer...when I did my run on GT2 dealership%, I show the game completion percentage only after stopping the timer...if it doesn't meet the requirement then it's not legit.
Again, must I remind that us as speedrunners are bound to win every time unless RNG goes wild? If you can't win in division 1 then you shouldn't post a time to begin with.
Survive, yeah. But since we are speedrunning this shit winning is pretty much default.
Is stopping the timer at the menu only really necessary? You're already easily winning by doing all races.
While I was grinding my runs I stopped the timer at the finish line of Ultimate Destruction.
Wait what Pull got beaten? How can this beeeeeeee Kappa
This arose during LowKee's last stream where he opted to stop the timer after reaching the end of the Tomb of Ramses escape part rather than ending it directly after picking up the last doll.
It's not like it makes much of a difference, doing the escape part or not, but I feel like it's pointless after getting the hell outta there twice :P
Ultimately all communities decide on different things how they want, there is strictly no right or wrong in speedrunning. Similar topic is "Does the timer start when you start the game from the main menu or when you gain control of the character?"
Personally I'd prefer stopping the timer just there. What do you guys think?
P.S. It's not a huge issue or anything as the community is rather small and inactive. But if more and more people would happen to join, we're getting back to this topic.
P.P.S. I'm definitely not lazy either, desperately wanting to end the run lol. Just my preference Kappa
