I'm running out of ideas for youtube polls, so if anyone's got stuff they're curious about, I could use some good questions.
Assuming you're using OBS, are you actually capturing livesplits? If you're using window capture on a game, livesplits won't be shown unless you window capture livesplits as well. If you're using desktop capture it'd show both though.
I believe the run linked should be invalid because as other's have mentioned, a lot is done off camera and is borderline invisible to the viewer. The point I haven't seen while skimming is the video quality is too low to make out what is being done (probably due to the lighting). Also what does this speedrun entail? Is it just seeing how fast you can prepare oatmeal once a packet is opened? There's no sense of time or final time listed, so I'm not sure how it's defined.
Also for a capture card, most of the ones you'd want for switch are HDMI capture where you dock the switch, plug the HDMI cable into ur cap card, and then a second one from the cap card to a monitor/TV.
I would still consider making turbo and non-turbo separate categories as whether it is used or not makes a huge difference and at least myself personally, I don't want to use a turbo feature because it feels like cheating (even when it's allowed/encouraged).
1.) Because people need a way to contact you where you'd actually get a notification, SRC messaging is pretty new and not everyone constantly checks up on the site. 2.) Catching cheaters is generally done by watching each run very carefully and thoroughly and looking for things only possible with cheats. You can also slow down runs, look for audio/video splicing, and look for anything off about a run. Depending on the game you could also ask suspected cheaters for relevant files to a run. Generally catching cheaters is very difficult.
3.) I'd recommend looking at the FAQs since both of these questions were answered there to some degree by clicking here.
@EldricsonPlays there's no need for most things. Most boards are ok with a run as long as you have a publicly accessible video somewhere (most don't even need audio although having audio is nice if you can). The reason most popular runners have a webcam and stream is so that they can also make some money from doing it and entertain people while they run or whatever. It's all personal choice. I'd suggest reading through some of the FAQS by clicking here or just doing your runs.
Favorite Game of all time would probably be pokemon emerald, not the best, but my favorite. With advance wars 2 in a close second.
Favorite Game to play atm would be Black Ops 3 Zombies.
What I consider the best game of all time would probably be either Garry's Mod or Minecraft.
I wouldn't get the OLED, it's just more expensive for not a lot of benefit (especially when docked). As pear mentioned, the only benefit to buying a specific model is if you buy one of the launch ones which is hackable which allows for mods and whatnot.
It would either be through a capture card or a phone. This is the one I use
@KaweedFul I mean tiktok is actually ok imo if the run can fit in it, you can view that without a signup.
Drive/Shared are bad tho I agree.
@Nin_Wolf it'd be the same as base MKDS, just learn the basics of that game and the more advanced things in that game.
@AlePride if you just care about privacy or whatever you can register a youtube account pretty easily while giving 0 personal details as long as uploads are under 15 minutes and you don't want thumbnails (since those require a phone number). And generally most things are allowed if you can view them at all times (they stay up permanently) and if you don't need to download any software or make any kind of account to view it. For that reason vimeo and youtube are often used. If you can find a site where you don't need torrenting software or anything like that to actually view your runs then it should be fine most of the time. Best of luck with your journey for privacy, it can be kind of hard to find replacements for some things from my experience.
A really solid thing you could try would be sending video files through bitchute or something to someone else so they can upload it for you though. (I also noticed you have a discord linked, and let me warn you it is probably one of the worst things if you truly care that much about privacy, so maybe consider running in a VM or something if privacy is a concern).
