Kill Frenzy would be a good idea, but I didn´t find a useful one nearby (there is one north of the northwest police station, but it seems too far away and only lasts 1 min and most other are about killing cops). Using pistol is indeed a good idea to spare some ammo, it even gives this "useless" weapon a new purpose, haha. There is a cop bribe not too far if you run towards the crushers to the right after the EE, which might save seconds. I don´t know if the cops full reset after the pick up, sometimes road blocks still appear on the roads and it might affect ped spawns.
Watching the industrial area with the gta2 radar from here: http://gtamp.com/2016/01/01/gta2-radar/ I think a few machine gun rounds can be picked up during the very first mission without too much time loss. And you still might have some silenced machine guns from killing the special agents later.
But don´t forget to pick up "get outta jail free-card" somewhere so you don´t lose your multiplier after getting busted accidently since cops can surprise you there.
I`m not sure if it is time.. no one did a industrial run yet from what I have seen. I can open it up temporarily and see if someone will submit industrial runs in the next few weeks. If not, it will be closed again, since pointless. ;)
Do you mean the "segmented" run from the vid above? It is a TAS and saves midgame which is not possible in the normal game.
I don´t see how you could get the whole group with one rocket shot. Molotovs maybe, if you spam a bunch, but doesn´t sound easy either. Flamethrower is faster than machine gun, but you dont get the accuracy bonus.

So far machine gun, silenced machine gun, electro gun and flamethrower worked for me.
Benefits:
- faster than bus EE
- using (silenced) machine guns you can get one or two extra accuracy bonuses (5k$ base points). if you get only one, you can try to shoot at some people on the way back because you might be close to getting the second bonus
Problems:
- sometimes you lose the combo (like the first try in the video), but maybe positioning was bad
- with a wanted level of 4 the ped spawns get somewhat low so you most likely can´t gather enough peds and need to respray first (maximum so far i got 3 times in a row before needing to respray)
As for the route, its not much different than the old one here:
Suggestion: Leave out the yellow Krishna mission and instead of shooting russians, shoot some krishnas in the vedic temple after you are done with missions to get the respect to at least +2 or +3. Thats because the spot is in zaibatsu territory and you might kill some performing the EE. You also need to somehow gather enough machine gun ammo, so pick up the ammo at the hospital when you do the yellow russian missions and probably in the vedic temple area at the right of the ramp after you kill krishnas and are on the way to do the EEs. One mission less is one multiplier less (and less score), so you will optimaly need 8 EEs here with the accuracy bonuses providing the rest. With this route it probably should take around 15 minutes with good execution.
Maybe there are other spots where this is possible and maybe even in downtown(police stations usually have a lot of peds spawns)? So feel free to post here if you find anything or have some better route ideas. ;)
A little update: When you get the Wang Cars and drive to the save point, you can align yourself on the lowest lane and then drive straight through the "hidden" passage and jump on the big ramp. Not sure if it is faster, but it avoids traffic and you get some insane stunt bonus. )
Here are three possible routes I came up with (Route C is the "old" one). All of them have three loops, the starting one and the other two after save/reloads:

Some notes:
- At the start you may take the Furore GT at the parking lots right next to the train tracks, but it is a bit slower than waiting for the Z-Type
- Use the handbrake on stairs that pushes you back, like the one on the first multiplier
- Try to get a wanted level so cop cars spawn at the wang car garage/save point quickly
- You can use a stair jump (don´t forget handbrake) on the edge of the stairs where the crates are as a shortcut to the wang car
- Route A needs extra 2k$ to get 50k$ for the save in the first part, but you should be able to get it on the way without losing time by driving over/shooting peds/cops
- For route B/C: if you see an Elvis group on the way, try to run them over to get the bonus, so you can skip the tank part in the last loop (saves 5 secs)
- Route C can use an alternate route in the last part (the one Route B uses) which is about the same as the first one
Short summary on what to do in each route: Route A
- 2x Multipliers, 3 Wang Cars + get 2k$ points to reach 50k$
- 2x Multipliers, 2 Wang Cars
- 2x Multipliers, 3 Wang Cars Route B and C
- 3x Multipliers, 3 Wang Cars
- 2x Multipliers, 3 Wang Cars
- 2 Wang Cars + destroy one car with tank at the end

I tried to submit a run to the Hitman Codename 47 IL leaderboard, but it says "this category doesn´t exist", although it obviously does or should.

Thats´interesting, does this option start when the level is loaded and end when you are on "area complete" or menu screen? Then it could be used to frame precisely measure time for the runs. Currently we use start of first non-black frame and end of first black frame, so would be interesting to know the difference, although i know that when you first start the game the first time the level is loaded slightly longer and you might already do some input while the screen is still black.
You mean the enhanced gta2 manager where you can select the debug tab? There is such an option "log routefinder", but it doesn´t do anything and there is also no folder named test, only in the 11.44 version, but it doesn´t do anything there too.
My opinion on testing keyboards for GTA 2 is as said before and what your test showed: it doesn´t matter what kind of keyboard you use, as long as you get the timing right with it. Hardware doesn´t matter for this game unless you run it on a Pentium or something. xD
I prefer speedrun related tests. Useful would be a program which outputs distances, speed and times in a log file while you are running the game and test different routes.
You can actually get this token 17 (and also some others) with this easy trick (Select molotovs or grenades and press rapidly, before the animation is finished, the fire button after a jump and then let the animation finish at the point you want to be. You will get elevated at the height you started from):

I don´t know, maybe. I played on different keyboards, like also on an inbuilt one on my laptop too, doesn´t really matter, as long as the response time is good and it feels comfortable.

Use the standard layout, it´s very good as it is. All buttons are next to each other, besides the honk/fart button which is tab. I see how that might be annoying, but the rest is placed good. No need for WASD, this game doesn´t need to use mouse, so you can have both of your hands on the keyboard.

No scripts, pressing buttons for as long as needed and getting the right feeling for it is a skill too, which differs a good from a worse player. Besides that, making a program do extra inputs for you sounds like tool assistance much, although i don´t see how it would help you, but that´s not the point anyway.

I take back what i said about passengers leaving when you shoot and drive back. So you can use that if you see cops. Also sub 5 is pretty much possible now with the little trick where you get the SWAT Van later.
It´s more arbitrary to remove just one glitch than all glitches, but if more people will do the Wang Car route, which is most likely the case, the category will be split as any% and any% no EE-glitch.
Also, submit your freakin runs folks, if you have any. It would speed up the process. )
If classic% is the same as any% classic rules, then why does GTA IV have this category twice on the leaderboards?

- time saving somewhere between 15 - 25 seconds compared to the old method
- cops somehow spawn more than usually and destroy your run when you steal the bus (shooting the bus so that the driver leaves might solve this problem, but this seems to have the problem that the passengers start to leave your bus when they enter it, despite driving back first, but it needs more testing..)
