Also take note of The Latest News Post The OFFICIAL Release Date is April 24th 2025 (More or Less because of Time Zones) and SNK has requested for Arcade & EOST Mode a Spoiler Restraint Embargo Period Until April 24, 2025 at 11:59 PM (PDT) / April 25, 2025 at 2:59 AM (EDT)!
During Early-Access We'll be open for Suggestions of Potential Categories and Rules while waiting for The OFFICIAL Release Date to happen later in The Week before accepting Runs so as to prevent Runner's Uploads from potentially being flagged as "Spoilers" until The Restraints are lifted on The Times listed above.
Thank you for understanding! :)
Opened up this Thread to discuss the Categories for The Game.
Whether that's adding a new listings for a particular type of Speedrun Category, Adjusting The Rules to an existing one, or any other types of concerns, it will be handled here! =D
Hey everyone just giving a "QUICK" Update about Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves as we get closer to The Release Date of The Game & as more information about The Game is discovered, but in case you didn't get The Memo already;
There's an Official Discord Server!
https://discord.com/invite/FatalFury
Mind you that this is The Game's OFFICIAL Discord, there may be another Discord Server in regards to SPEEDRUNNING Specifically down the line Post-Release, but considering I'm not only a Mod for City of the Wolves' Speedrun Leaderboards but also The Official Game's Discord too in the future the possibilities of a Team-Up between The Speedrun Leaderboards & The Official Discord are on The Table for Potential Collaboration Events.
Some might be familiar with similar SPEEDRUN Events that were runned for Other SNK Game Titles like KOF XIII or KOF XV so it's not entirely unheard of!
At the moment there's nothing to Officially announce on that front (since City of the Wolves isn't out yet!) but I figured it would still be good to point out The Official Game Discord Server since many folks are already talking about many things about The Game there already & because of The Possibility of SPEEDRUN Events happening in the future.
Anywho! Feel Free to stop on by if you get the chance! ;)
No problemo! Thanks for doing Runs for the game! 👍
Hey just throwing a Quick Update after some Folks expressed some interest in potentially running Gundam Games for Anime Speedruns Festival 2025 Submissions in either SOLO or CO-OP!
ASF 2024 had a bit of lack of Gundam Games being run so for ASF 2025 We're pushing for any other Gundam Speedrunners to consider sending a Speedrun Submission for ASF 2025! Whether it be a Newer Gundam Game or an Older Title!
For those curious about Anime Speedrun Festival 2025 feel free to check the link below:
This is just an EXAMPLE RUN with plenty of Opportunities to beat this Time! We highly encourage Folks to get a Friend or Partner and try this Run for themselves! ;)
Also it should be noted that we are aware of how depending on The Platform GB4 is played on & also depending on how many Players/ Runners are participating that it is possible that Missions in The Game can potentially be SOFTLOCKED due to Defeating Enemies too quickly before a Cutscene Event would normally playout.
To accommodate for that happening, restarting a Mission within The Run, should that happen, is acceptable instead of outright restarting The Entire Run. However The Timer must still be running and count the time it takes to restart & select the Mission in The Overall Total Time.
We're also aware of The Upcoming October Patch to GB4 so that MIGHT affect any Runs prior to The Patch from being listed on The Leaderboards so stay tuned on that front as well.

Made a separated Category for Original Xbox / PS2 since they're overall comparable as opposed to the Arcade / 2024 Edition of The Game.
It's a 7 Year Old Video Archive of a Stream that happened LIVE with Newer Twitch Encoding messing how it's playing back Audio & Visuals NOW VS. It how it was working and playing perfectly fine for nearly 8 Years with it also being "Grandfathered In" as The Example of Run waiting for it to be surpassed & replaced by a Faster Run and only recently started having playback issues.
Majority of the Issues you're mentioning have only occurred fairly recently due to how Twitch has been handling Older Archived VOD Content as of late and not reflective of how The Run originally went or what folks were watching / witnessing the Stream happen 7 Years ago.
Folks have already submitted runs for the Switch Version already & it's a viable Platform to do a run
Modified Levels / Character SPECIFIC Leaderboards to be Alphabetical, to include the Upcoming Season Pass DLC Character's Names for the future, and to have Character Specific Leaderboards for all the Current Main Categories & to emphasize in the Rules how those Boards are for a Particular Character VS. The Overall Game ✨
Also changed up The Character Specific / Level Version of Arcade Mode to be listed as a "Character Arcade - ANY" Leaderboard ahead of time should there be interests in running OTHER Character Specific Arcade Mode Leaderboards with Different Settings for Difficulty & Round Count in the future! 👍
The Main Difference is on ANY Rules you can play the game as Quickly as Possible and not have to Duel Everyone but on Main Game Rules you MUST encounter every Main Map Duelist in a Duel at least once as stated by "All runs must have all encounters with Duel able NPCs."
This was already mentioned in the NEWS section of The Leaderboard but in case anyone wanted to discuss about this Gameplay Shake-Up to KOFXV on the forums I made a post about it here as well.
On January 30th SNK will be Updating KOFXV and adding in a New Offensive Gameplay Mechanic called "Advance Strike"! This will significantly change how the Overall Gameplay is for KOFXV so please take note if we once again make changes to The Leaderboard Listings for all Runs prior to This New Update as being a separate Listing Sub-Category Post-Update, much like We've done in the past with significant Updates! 🤔
For more detailed explanations on The Advance Strike Mechanic please refer to the Video Example Below:

As just mention in the NEWS Section of The KOF XV Leaderboards it has been announced that Goenitz will be added as a FREE DLC Downloadable Character and become a New Option in The Boss Challenge Mode so he was preemptively added as a Leaderboard Option ahead of Release.
We will give Future Updates on here if there should be another Prize Pool Event surrounding his Boss Challenge much like we did with Omega Rugal. So Stay Tuned! ;)
Since it would require a more "In-Depth" look on each Run as well as heavily adjusting Rules and Settings, The Leaderboards have been changed to have New Sub-Category Values for Settings to the Game for "Any or Not Displayed" and "Default Settings" that would have to be shown before each Run in that Sub-Category.
Previous Runs have been temporarily automatically set for "Any or Not Displayed" but should any of them have the Rules & Settings Displayed before the Run then it can also be Submitted again for the "Default Settings" Section.
As for other things like having Different Difficulty Levels as New Categories, that could be added in the Future should any other Runners like that Feature and would advocate for adding them in the Thread but since the Leaderboard didn't originally track that or have them as Categories and since we're not transitioning to tracking the Settings of the Game for the Leaderboards in a New Sub-Category, for now we only have it set to the New "Any or Not Displayed" and "Default Settings" Sub-Categories.
If anyone else any concerns or comments feel free to mention it on this Thread or send a DM to me on the Speedrun Website 👍
For Future Reference it actually is possible to adjust The Screen/Window Options for KOF XIII Steam Edition, though the way to go about it depends on your Steam Preferences and might have to be adjusted through your overall Steam Game Settings depending on what you have set for that.
For Example when I play KOF XIII Steam Edition I have it so that it would be on a Lower-Resolution in Windowed Mode to make it easier to capture and jump over to the RTA.
Just something that you might want to look into for the Future 👍
With the announcement that The Game is coming to PlayStation 4 & Nintendo Switch (And Since the Enhancements are mostly for Online VS. Play like Including Rollback Netcode but not changing the Single Play or Arcade Play making it basically the same as The PC Version), The Categories have been slightly updated to accommodate them for the Future and will be in the same Leaderboards as The PC Version of KOF XIII.
Some of those could work as runs, especially a CO-OP one, but would definitely need to see if other folks are interested running them before making them an Actual Category :D
