At the moment the Separated Categories for everything is because the Game itself considers each Modes as their own Different, Independent, Section rather than most Fighters where it is dictated by the Game Difficulty in the Settings Menu. So you may have an instance where someone could want to do something like "Story Mode - EASY, CPU Difficulty 5" or "Story Mode - HARD, CPU Difficulty 1" which is where things start getting tricky.

That's why we're using the Default Settings for everything for now as a basis & jumping off point so that we can adjust for more Categories & Settings since once more Players have a better understanding of how the Game Modes play by Default, then we could start looking into & talk about Specifics when it comes to Sub-Categories, Various Settings, and Character Specific things outside of Mission Mode (Which is being worked on since each Character's Missions are different).

Right now it's more of finding the core audience for the Game by using the Defaults rather than over bloating the Leaderboard with things that folks might not actually do until they see that the "CORE" Categories are actually being Speedrunned and then they start getting the idea to potentially branch out into other types of play & Speedrunning.

I'm not gonna sugar coat things but in comparison to a Big Name Fighting Game like "Street Fighter" The Melty Blood Series is more of a Niche so there's a chance having TOO MANY Options at the Start might not be ideal & could actually divide things more, which is why I think branching out the Options after we actually have more folks running the core Default Game would be ideal.

You have to walk before you run after all.

That's not to say many of those Features can't & won't show up later though as more folks begin to do Runs for the Game.

Also @DWednesday is correct in that the Survival Mode is currently set to Ascending Time so the Best would be based on actual Survival Length.

Well the Game is NEW so we're slowly adding in various different Categories & Sub-Categories over time provided that there is an actual interest for people to run them, but it made sense to start off with the Default Categories first and see how those go before we get too far ahead of ourselves.

Though with that being said if folks have ideas for Categories by all means mention them, I'll probably be adding the Boss Rush soon after having some time to play around with it.

As part of our initiative to revamp the Leaderboards for KOF XIII as part of The Official SNK Discord I added Level Leaderboard Categories for each of the Playable Characters, meaning that Survival, Trial, and Time Attack Mode are now open for Speedruns!

Currently we're hosting a Speedrun Event on the Leaderboards for XIV & The Discord Server as seen here:

Hi Guys! I'm sure a ton of you just saw that Chizuru and Team Sacred Treasures Trailer for King of Fighter XV right?

To help coincide with it & our new efforts that we mentioned earlier to add Speedrun Integration to The Official SNK Discord Server....

We will be hosting a Mini-Event within The King of Fighters XIV's Time Attack Mode!

The Top 3 Quickest Players on the Server will be receiving the coveted GOLDEN "Sacred Treasures" Role on the Discord Server as we learn who the FASTEST Player there is!

Time Attack Mode in KOF XIV is an easy to complete mode where you Select 1 of any of the Characters in the Game & go through 10 Random CPU Characters in a 1v1 Survival Style that's 1 Round each. The Game uses an In-Game Timer to determine how QUICK you're able to do that so no external programs or equipment is necessary!

All you need to do is show us either by filming, capturing, screen-shooting, uploading, or streaming KOF XIV's Time Attack End Screen you'll be in the running to be our winner.

For this Event we're only looking for the Fastest Time on The SNK Official Server itself.

Participants don't need to make an Account on the Speedrun Website for this Contest or beat those Speedrun Times listed on here, but we definitely encourage them to consider doing it if they are already attempting to do this Event since they would automatically be qualified for the Leaderboards just by doing it.

The Prize will be given to the Top 3 Quickest Times on the Server itself but they can use those Examples on Speedrun.com as a reference.

This Event will be starting as of now & ending sometime this week on February 24th-25th (Depending on Timezones)

Yeah I ended up editing the Original Category & creating a New Category that's more "Standard" for Fighting Games since the initial rules set for the game were set a while back ago before things became standardized & before the Switch Version was released.

If folks would like to see this game to be more expanded by having more Categories, for things like more Difficulty Levels, then feel free to send me a message somewhere! ;)

Actually 1.0 is still buyable as a Physical Copy for Consoles should someone choose not to download the update, elect not to update to the latest version or doesn't have their Console Connected to the Internet, you're not actually required to upgrade to 2.0 with Physical Copies of the Game.

What's with the Leadboards for BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II & Continuum EXTEND?

You yourself said that Emulation wasn't a good representation of the games and now all of a sudden Emulation Runs of the Game are getting approved.

Sorry it took a moment to get back to you but it was a Holiday Week in the US!

To answer your questions:

1. The Characters listed on the Board were based on those who were interested in running particular characters, whether or not they actually had anyone attempt doing runs for them is another story.

At the time the Leaderboards were created nobody expressed interest in playing characters like Andy or Joe which is why they didn't have a section.

2. Survival has a Reverse Time Order so it's actually listing whoever survives the longest.

Though I suppose if anyone was interested in doing a "First to 10 Wins" Run that could be made into a Board.

Well if enough active runners agree to that then it could be arranged, however note that if it does get separated into a Per Character Basis the problem is that could potentially split apart the Speedrunning Community for the Game into a even smaller size when it is already limited.

As a Single Category the Leaderboard pulls together everyone running the game to get a better sense of the total people actually playing the game, but should enough requests for individual character runs become a thing then it can be adjusted to fit that instead.
