Did a proof of concept run for a potential new challenge category that requies defeating the secret Oni boss in Arcade using the Hardest difficulty.
The in-game secret Oni boss requirements are the following (Only mentioning bo3 round settings since that's what this leaderboard enforces)
- No Continues
- 2 Perfect Victories
- 10 First Attacks
- 5 Ultra or Super Combo Finishes
- Defeat Seth with a Super or Ultra Combo
I've counted up this run's IGT in the YT description but I'll wait to actually submit until there's a decision on adding it as a new category or not. I can't imagine that I'd be the only person interested, this challenge was pretty iconic when it was current and even today it's really satisfying to do!
Thankyou for your consideration; please spread the word and perhaps try a run for yourself if you'd like to see this get some more attention. c:
We'll keep our ears to the ground while we listen to feedback but it seems like at least for the time being until the current leaderboard times become more optimised the issue doesn't seem too urgent rn as far as tiebreakers go. It'd be nice to set the precedent early on but it's hard to make a long lasting call like that going forward without more community opinions.
If there's still a majority desire to change things up after that's happening more regually and we've had time to consider some options of approaching it that's probabbly when we'll make such a change.
As some food for thought, the current best potential alternative is to change how IGT is timed (except for survival) to match simillar to how we handle timing the Trials which don't have an in-game round timer. This would allow us to have an accurate millisecond count to prevent a tiebreaker but we would need to do that for every single run for that method to be consistently accurate, not just the tiebreaker itself - also it would make it impossible for runners to determine their own IGT before the mods framecount themselves which makes it even more difficult for runners to know if a run is worth submitting or not.
We're looking forward to hearing everyones thoughts on this and any other potential solution alternatives that may arise from discussions. c:
Alright, RGT should no longer show up on the leaderboard. I took a look at the leaderboards for the other games gamewiz mentioned and it seems they the same problem with being unable to actually disable RGT in the submission form so that must be on SRC's side of things.
For our purposes please think of RGT as a pending time for those who need to submit something but don't have the time to manually find the IGT themselves - for those people we can manually replace it with the IGT during the verification process - I will clarify the written rules to reflect all this in mind too.
When we implemented IGT for the boards we wern't sure if it having both listed would cause extra confusion but now that we know it does there's no reason to keep RGT listed so thanks again Subzero for bringing this up. c:
Sadly we can't use RGT for a tiebreaker either since there are vastly different load times per console so we'd like to hear the community's thoughts on tiebreakers in general for SFV since IGT for the Story and Arcade categories are currently calculated on round time which doesn't account for milliseconds at all - it's possible that it may even be best to simply allow a tied WR's to stay tied if feedback leans in that direction.
Now that you mention it, I think it does do that as a baked in leaderboard feature when both are present. Maybe we can upload a few test times and see what happens.
Yeah, that's more of a clerical issue than anything. When we went to swap around the priorities the first time around I tried removing the RGT field entirely but couldn't find a way to enable IGT without keeping RGT showing up as a field - you can't just leave both fields blank either otherwise SRC won't let you submit - so it's awkwardly presented in the submission form.
If all else fails I could just delete the RGT that people provide and replace it with our manual IGT if a mod needs to time it for someone - if no runs in a category show RGT the field should disappear from view.
I'll have another poke at things and see if there's a solution we can come up with.
Ah! thankyou for pointing me in the right direction, I'll remember that if we happen to come across something else.
Hello, the Street Fighter V speedrun community has recently changed hands and is in a peroid of renovation after getting in touch with the previous moderators who have been inactive for months, however we would like to request a title change to our game since the game has since undergone an expansion and this seems to be something we cannot do ourselves, even as Super Moderators.
The current title is "Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition" and we would like it changed to "Street Fighter V: Champion Edition" You can find us at https://www.speedrun.com/sfv
I contacted thelvl99charmander - this community's original Super Mod - about our situation and after reviewing everything he has has decided to take on both GingerSocrates and myself as extra moderators. Please stay tuned over the next couple days as we work hard to renovate the leaderboards.
While you wait, I have linked our community in with the joint Street Fighter Speedrun discord which you can find on the left sidebar; feel free to join if you would like the the most efficient communication possible between community members. Naturally we will still be keeping an eye on these forums regardless.
Thankyou for your paitence and here's to a brighter future!
Looks like it's not just the title that was never updated, I don't think the entire board has been updated for a long time - I went to submit a run today of the Arcade: SF4 category and Kage isn't even selectable in the submission form - and he was released 8 entire months ago. I would like to see all things like this amended to current times.
I'm also in favour of a split since some people have already expressed an interest to do it with battle items as well. I think the one that bans Battle Items should be the main version of category however.
Edit: At least those were my thoughts before reading X-Kira's post in a different thread; in light of which I am now prefering an outright ban.
"I disagree with the use of items, for the simple reason: they can be defrauded by request using any type of sniffer. A legitimate Survival speedrun, only the upgrades suggested by RNG would be used, that's all.
ATT: X-Kira."
I'd really enjoy seeing this as it's own new category too; with sub-tabs for each season just like how the distinction is made in game. I feel very unmotivated to attempt speedruns of the Trials with them being listed under the Level Leaderboard by using any season as it currently is.
I submitted some runs today and it turns out IGT is already enabled, it's just an optional field atm rather than a required one and people have just been choosing not to fill it out. I'm not sure if it's designated as the main time to use yet though so that's perhaps something to consider changing if it's what everyone wants.
I'm not sure how we want to go about this for the Bonus stages though as it doesn't actually show a timer for us to use on those. I feel like it should count but I'm not seeing a way of reliably including it. What do you all think?
This is the video that helped me understand it the most, hope it helps and goodluck!
I would really enjoy seeing more activity in this game; there's also some quality of life changes with the leaderboard that I believe are long overdue and are only still a thing - I imagine - because of being overlooked during it's inactivity peroid.
Full-game Leaderboard isn't the main way to play - for some reason currently that's set to Level Leaderboard which is being used for Survival Mode and Trials. I think it's more reasonable to simply have Survival Mode and Trials as game categories instead and organise them with sub-tabs by character.
Never got a rename to Champion Edition - honestly this one is just confusing but even if we did, there are gameplay changes from character to character every season so it makes me wonder if that's something that should be stated as well or if that's just overkill? Personally I think it's overkill but it might be worth a discussion.
Discord - we should be linking in with the Street Fighter Speedrunning discord for obvious reasons to help foster the community and grow but the side bar doesn't show it.
There's alot of potential here to foster some new competition, it just needs a push for it so If there's anything I can do to help as well, please let me know as I'm happy to put my name down for that if you want an extra hand moderating things, it's up to the current mods to decide in the end so please let us know your thoughts when you can.
I'd also like to see a solution to this - it may be small but there's no reason not to. Personally I'd lean toward making it IGT just like SF4 has that way it prevents cluttering the leaderboards with seperate categories (which is important for a small community of active runners) while still fixing the problem.
I don't think they were trying to say anything about you exactly, we all have other stuff going on after all so it's fine - but I do think we really could use a few more mods, particually if there are alot of active runners as the case seems to be - myself included. It would also look better from the outside to know that mods arn't verifying their own runs because that's generally seen as shady practice. It's also strange that the SF speedrun discord isn't linked with this leaderboard so I don't think it's too surprising that communication is difficult right now.
Personally, I'd love to apply myself if you're looking for more mods. I've been a mod for some other well known games for a long time so it's not something unfamilliar to me. Whatever you decide, I'm looking forward to seeing how the issue is handled because there's clearly alot of investment from many different runners and I'm excited to watch the community grow and compete together.
No, it's in the game rules. "The only modifications allowed to the game in any capacity are modifications to the .ogg music files in your Undertale directory, and removal of steam_api.dll. "
I'm pretty sure SF1 had it's difficulty setting toggled only via DIP Switches, not sure if that's the case here too since this is the first itteration of SF2 but maybe it's worth a shot checking that out if you're not seeing it in it's normal service menu.
Granolant and I were talking about the possibility of opening up a specific Discord just for this game and it's runners awhile back so if that's something you guys would like to see please let us know. As far as I was aware this game's been pretty under everyone's radar for a long time - it's good to see people asking questions and I'm happy to see new runners. Welcome~ !
