I'm not sure how up to date it is but Zheal made a basic Any% guide back in 2017 here:
Also I believe the last time Any% was at AGDQ was in 2018, that can be found here:
Learning this game has been on my list of goals as well for a long time so I'm hoping to get into it soon as well; if anyone else more experienced in the scene has some suggestions I'd be interested to know too. Hope that helps for now, @Camwoodstock !
Corrupting your save? Why do you need to load an old save to do the actual speedruns themselves?
If you're looking to streamline your practice sessions or to help you learn new categories and levels that you're unfamilliar with I would reccomend utilising the Masamune practice rom for that purpose instead.
The Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike leaderboards have received a revamp to help further promote competition between our runners! Please find below a list of the changes that have been made.
• Many rule clarifications and organisational improvements have been made for the sake of category organisation and the overall leaderboard layout in general
• Starting time ruling adjusted from the beginning of loading into character select to on Super Art selection after choosing a character
• New Gill Sub-Category for the Arcade mode on home console ports
• Character-specific Trials (assessed in the Online Edition home console port) has been added to the IL boards
• An "All OE Trials" as a misc. main board category which includes both character and mechanics-focused challenges all in a single run
As usual we will continue to keep an eye on these forums for feedback just in case but if you'd like to contribute to the discussions we highly encourage the use of our official community discord: https://discord.gg/fr5KXSsaEw
Thank you for your time and goodluck on the runs!
I read over your final post but some parts of it have left me a bit confused? I can't post there since the thread is locked now so I'll do it here.
No one was trying to suggest we should have even more categories, we were actually asking the reverse for simplicity sake - that's essentially what a merging of the individual character categories on the mainboards would provide. With a seperate IL board in place everyone would still be able to submit for character-WRs no problem.
After some additional thinking and doing some arcade runs myself to experiment, I decided to merge both Solo and Co-Op categories as well as Gems and No Gems for the time being. I feel like these are things that could have a big impact in the future and it's possible we might re-split them when the time eventually comes for it but with how little runs currently exist and how unoptimised they still are it's going to be some time until we see a significant divide between submitted times and I'd like to promote a single competitive category to help foster the scene.
Thank you for your understanding.
The Co-op category isn't meant for a single player using both characters but specifically for cooperative play together with a friend to run with who has their own seperate controller. We may consider merging it with the main category and just letting people choose either if the idea doesn't catch on though.
For the no gem category just head to Customize > Gem Unit from the main menu then remove the gems manually from a particular character's loadout; that'll let you use the character without any gems equipped when selecting the new blank loadout.
We felt like it was important to give people an oppitunity to have a level playing field without gems since alot of the better ones are only obtained through DLC and can easily skew the results of a run if they're abused - at the same time we didn't want to wipe the leaderboards just because everyone coincidentally happened to be using bad gems at the moment - it's not a problem right now but can easily be in the future so a category split seemed like the way to go.
I wouldn't count on it, usually these things are non-negotiable but since it's only an optional feature for your particular controller if you're lucky I could maybe see the mods making an exception if you're able to show an input display on screen as an overlay next to your game feed in the video to prove the Turbo Feature isn't actually being used so they can properlly verify the run. If they go for it I'd reccomend RetroSpy for this.
This leaderboard now has a new moderation team and we're working to update the leaderboards with some changes that have been ignored until now like the addition of secret characters to the submission form.
In order to help facilitate the addition of the secret characters to the board, we will also be changing the start time in the rules to the final input on the character select screen to give everyone an oppitunity to input secret character codes without it becoming an unnessessary detriment to their run. All existing runs on the leaderboard will soon be retimed based on this new start time.
Over the next few days we will endevour to make some other various changes to help promote a strong and healthy community. Please look forward to the upcoming announcement post detailing a full list of changes which I will be making to these forums in a new thread once they're ready.
Ah good catch, I'd forgotten those extra characters were DLC-based and not included in the base download. How does a category split sound for No DLC vs DLC Only? I'd like to get some feedback on this before we actually finalise things.
This list of characters below seems to coincide with what's mentioned on the Steam Store page: • Sakura • Blanka • Guy • Cody • Elena • Dudley • Lars • Alisa • JACK-X • Bryan • Christie • Lei
After some investigation with the help of one of our co-mods DWednesday , there also appears to be these characters that are exclusive to the Playstation port but there's a PC community patch on Steam to add them in: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=649186874
• KURO • TORO • Cole • PAC-MAN • MEGA MAN
With this in mind, a No DLC category would encompass 38 characters whereas a DLC Only category would be the remaining 17 I've mentioned above which XB360 sadly wouldn't have access to; I do feel like that's an acceptable tradeoff however.
Concerning external timers don't worry about using one if you don't like to, that's just for people that want to know RGT as a reference to know if their completed runs are good enough for them to want to even submit or not. If you have no official RGT just list an approximation from your recorded video (since otherwise SRC won't let you submit without any listed time at all) and we can framecount the actual IGT for you which is the one that's actually used to order rankings before it gets verified to the board - I must admit though, having external timer splits by character is a very good way to make sure you don't accidentally miss a character since it would be tragic to invalidate the submission like that so the choice is yours there.
In this particular category, mods will be manually framecounting each 1-20 trial segment for characters then combine the time since there is no in-game round counter associated with Trials - basically the same thing we plan on doing with individual trial runs just for each character attempt, then combined together. We decided to do it this way so that no one would have to worry about a platform category split.
Finally, concerning game version there doesn't appear to be any official ruling on this yet and while I personally feel like the most up to date version should be the standard I don't see how this is something we could actually enforce without seriously inconveniencing the community no matter which version they happen to currently own. Considering this, I feel like leaving it open is the most resonable approach however we're happy to keep an open mind on this for the future so if anyone has ideas for this that they would like to put forward, you are welcome to. Would you be able to link the run you mentioned earlier here for us so we can investigate further? If the balance change differences ends up being significant enough to warrant the rule change it'd definatly be worth finding an appropiate solution for it.
[big]Edit:[/big] Quick update that we've made some changes to the board to demonstrate the above findings. Please let us know if you feel there's anything in addition that has yet to be represented.
Hello everyone and welcome to the new and improved SFxT leaderboards! This game has recently received a new moderation team! @Habble , @NerdyNester and @DWednesday will now be spearheading the moderation effort.
Firstly before I begin I'd like to tag the community members here who have already submitted times to this leaderboard in the past as we would like to encourage a revitalisation of the leaderboard and we feel like the changes that have been made are drastic enough to highlight the new status quo. @KingSheaun , @Jaypin88 , @captrhodes , @Sir_ProsPal , @CyanRamp , @E_21 , @StarkillerShane , @GGDuane , @CountGooby and @FelipeNascimento83
Please find below a full list of changes that we have made to the boards in an effort to foster a strong and healthy community.
• General Game rules have been clarified, detailing acceptable standards for video, emulator, gameplay and general runner conduct requirements
• Moderators are no longer permitted to automatically verify their own submitted times
• Official collaboration with the Street Fighter Speedruns community discord is now in effect; a link to which has been added to the leaderboard sidebar
• Arcade mode speedrun rankings now use IGT as their main timing method (the combined total of 99s minus K.O time for each round of gameplay in the run) You are free to still submit with RTA as a reference if you wish but the official rankings will be ordered by the fastest in game time after it has been confirmed during verification
• Since the game actually provides an IGT for you at the end of each Mission, the combined total of all provided times by the game is used to calculate the IGT for the All Missions category specifically
• Platform categories are now merged together since using IGT means we no longer have to worry about load time discrepancies - additionally, this ensures that PC users who previously chose to alter the game files of stage backgrounds to be blank in order to speed up loading times will no longer have any objective benefit over anyone else when submitting their times
• A Co-op subcategory has been added under the Arcade category for runs between two human players on the same team
• Merged various difficulty and round value categories into three distinct types applicable to all relevant run formats; any existing runs for the categories that were previously underrepresented for years have been moved to their new appropriate homes
The new Arcade category format is as follows: Any% allows the use of any round or difficulty setting. 3R | Medium which enforces a 3 Round setting on Medium difficulty. 3R | Hardest which enforces a 3 Round setting on Hardest difficulty.
• A No Gems subcategory has been added under the Arcade category that enforces a complete ban on utilising any gems for the entire run
• The All Tutorials category under Challenge has been deleted due to community disinterest
• The IL section of this leaderboard is now open for Individual character Trials, allowing everyone the opportunity for competition over character-specific WRs
• For Trial IL speedruns, time starts on "READY" after loading into Trial 1 and ends on "CLEAR" after completing Trial 20
• Revised the SRC run submission form to include all 42 of the previously unlisted characters that have been somehow inexplicably absent all this time
Thank you for your time and good luck with the runs!
This leaderboard now has a new moderation team and the previous RGT ruling is planned to be abolished in favour of IGT allowing us to reorganise the leaderboard in a way that merges all platforms under one single banner without having to worry about load time discrepancies between platforms. In addition to no longer enforcing an external timer, this allowsa us to keep an even playing field between all platforms and also ensures that PC users who previously chose to alter the game files of stage backgrounds to be blank in order to speed up loading times will no longer have any objective benefit over anyone else when submitting their times.
All existing runs on the leaderboard will soon be reassessed for IGT based on the combined total of the in-game timer like how is already done with SF4 and SFV. (99s minus K.O time for each round of gameplay in the run)
You are free to still submit with RTA as a reference if you wish but the official rankings will be ordered by the fastest in game time after it has been confirmed during verification.
Over the next few days we will endevour to make some other various changes to help promote a strong and healthy community. Please look forward to the upcoming announcement post detailing a full list of changes which I will be making to these forums in a new thread once they're ready.
Should be free to use any ROM version or region you like, they're not typically banned for Arcade speedrun boards; sometimes some Arcade ROMs will be faster than others due to JP text and such but that's game specific.
Livesplit is the standard program most people use and count be found here https://livesplit.org/ , how you split or if it's an automatic setup or not is totally up to you as long as the beginning and the final splits follow the game rules.
Capture devices are something alot more specific, especially if you're using console but if you're emulating you shouldn't have a problem just displaying that directly to a recording or streaming software like OBS.
While it's true there are speed differences to every port, I believe separating by platform is the simplest and most efficient solution to that which would contain any discrepancies from port to port within the selected platform without causing problems.
[big]30th AC difficulty...[/big] I'm in full agreement of keeping 30th AC as Hardest difficulty only. There are ways we could go about allowing other difficulties but the only way to do so would be some sort of rule to show the most up to date version release on the XBox/PS4 screen before entering the game but that would invalidate current runs since they don't do that and even then we aren’t still 100% sure it's actually fixed in the game's release itself. I don't know if this flaw in difficulty representation exists with other SF2 iterations or just Turbo but that could be a concern for those other boards too if so.
[big]INT and JP iterations...[/big] I think that whatever ruling is decided upon for it should be specifically in regards to the 30th AC as the only reason it causes a disturbance in the leaderboards is because of the scarcity of purchase which other platforms do not suffer from as they can easily pick and choose the ROM version they would like to run on via emulation – since only the JP disc for 30th AC has the choice of which ROM option to play on, I suggest banning JP version on 30th AC submissions only.
[big]Rule Settings for Turbo Speed[/big] I've managed to arrange different jump tests – all using a MiSTeR FPGA which is our most accurate representation of real hardware - into the compilation video below of different Turbo speeds to help us come to a decision on which we believe to be an agreeable standard. I've also included footage of Hyper Fighting as well to show as a reference which seems to fall between the “Normal” and “Fast” examples. Finally, I've omitted the “Slow” speed comparison in my test as it's not necessary to consider for a decision on the rules to be made.
JP 1 / US 0 / 30th AC 1 Slow = A slowed down version from ROM default, not worth banning since going too slow isn't a problem, only if it's too fast.
JP 2 / US 1 / 30th AC 2 Normal = The default listing in the Service Menu from ROM boot.
JP 3 / US 2 / 30th AC 3 Fast - The established standard in the pro tournament scene and the most comparable example to Hyper Fighting.
JP 4 / US 3 / 30th AC 4 Extra Fast - A special unnaturally fast mode that is both beyond tournament standard and not accessible with Free Select.
When playing on real arcade hardware, Free Select allows the first three options to be selected whereas “Extra Fast” has to be manually selected in the service menu only and as such should be considered unnatural in my opinion. Taking this all into account, It is my belief that anything selectable via Free Select should be allowed in standard rules whereas “Extra Fast” specifically deserves it's own category in the same way you provided for SF2HF on SNES.
Yes, I agree with keeping things to a minimum for the sake of simplicity wherever possible. There are other ports of the game that exist like from the SNES Classic for instance that have already been asked about on previous threads such as this one https://www.speedrun.com/sf2hf/thread/cqcwx however that was a long time ago and it doesn't seem like anyone currently wishes to actually run that platform as far as I can tell – my suggestion here would be to add the game's associated ports to what can be selected under platform in the submission form however only give that platform an actual category tab once people have completed runs for it – this would allow people to submit them and pending review they can be moved appropriately.
It's also for simplicity's sake why I felt individual character categories are too much for the main board and would be better represented under ILs; the main board could be trimmed down to a single category per difficulty with all the appropriate runs at once if that's something you also agree is worth changing.
Additionally, thankyou Andy for finally clarifying your reasons for choosing Slowpoke as your moderator; now that you've explained them I think that's reasonable. It's not my or anyone else’s intention to nag you and I apologise if things come off that way it's just that when things get lost in translation after clarification has already been asked of course it's natural to bring it up again in order to address it.
Everyone here offering their thoughts on the concerns are already avid members of other Street Fighter speedrun communities on SRC and while some may not personally have times yet on this particular board they have gone to great lengths to share their feelings on why that is the case because of how unapproachable the SF2 leaderboards has felt to them until now which is why we're all so appreciative that you're receptive toward clarifying SF2's rules and cleaning up the leaderboards so thankyou for that. I myself already do have times on this board and other SF2 boards and I'm telling you that as a co-admin and a representative of the central discord hub that I am in agreement to these concerns – and it seems like you already agree too actually since changes are starting to be made for the good of everyone based on feedback they've given you - this should be enough to understand their position so please do not take it out on them.
You are free to have any personal opinion of the SF speedrun community that you would like - it is your choice to collaborate with the central discord hub of the SF speedrun community or not and we are not trying to force you to do so - this thread itself is a testament to that having been built upon the concerns of this community in order to help address them. You have never set foot in our community Discord or spoken to any of the other runners directly through our server so I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt that you may simply be misinformed as you seem to be about it's purpose as for to assume otherwise would be mere speculation and our discord does not encourage that kind of toxicity. Our doors – or if you'd prefer – my DMs on SRC are always open if you wish to clarify anything but I've explained the bulk of it in my first reply to this thread on page 1.
Take whatever time you need to make the appropriate adjustments to the rules and layout; we are not a raging mob, we are simply very eager to work together with you to rectify the concerns that have been mentioned and we are all once again very appreciative that progress is being made. Thank you
If you have examples of anything specifically I have brought up that you feel is "aggressively pedantic" then please, you are more than welcome to share your opinion on it and elaborate why. I would prefer that we were on the same page - not that you misunderstood why these concerns are being brought to you.
In the meantime if you are truly interested in facilitating a smooth resolution to our concerns I would like to note that it would be best done with us officially collaborating together to handle the matter as a team, not for our concerns to be simply dismissed by you without you so much as explaining your reasons for doing so. This isn't a matter of having patience or not, you simply have yet to make a statement on our full list of concerns and we have a right to point that out.
It's with this in mind that I'd like to express that I'm sorry to hear you feel that way but I'm afraid to say you still haven’t actually answered my questions and both I and the rest of the community would like to understand why you seem to be avoiding to do so. I am still waiting for your explanation of your mod selection vetting process for the reasons I've stated in my earlier post and considering your previous tone just now I am also additionally curious why you seem so determined to act against our mod team in particular when it's just a simple offer of assistance. You can't just ignore your own community and act like they're out to get you when they bring you their concerns; that's the whole point of this thread after all - despite these circumstances we have all come to you with optimism in the forefront of our minds and everyone has been making an effort to be agreeable so I would appreciate it if you dropped the accusatory edge to your remarks that was in your previous reply.
It's my belief that Slowpoke doesn't represent the community as far as moderating standards are concerned for the reasons I've previously explained and so because of that it's my duty to ask for clarification of how you're going to alternately remedy this matter otherwise you're still in breach of the SRC community guidelines that were elaborated on previously in this thread.
I'm not asking out of impatience and it is odd to me after everything I've said that you would assume so. If the concerns raised by the community are to be solved and managed agreeably then they have to be discussed, not shot down. I don't think any further emphasization of the points I've brought up will be constructive from here on, so I'll leave the ball in your court for awhile with the hope that you will choose to work with the community rather than against them. I look forward to hearing a response from you about all the points you have yet to make a statement about.

It should go without saying too that any previously existing 30thAC runs across all five SF2 boards should be moved to their respective new category. Considering the universal category split, it also seems prudent to add in XBox One, PS4, Switch and PC as a selectable Platform instead of listing those runs as Arcade; there's no reason not to and it helps solidify further clarification for everyone.
As far as the layout goes, I've already given my thoughts in previous posts. There does however seem to also be some inconsistencies with the leaderboard submission form on some board iterations that has been unaddressed for some time as well as some brand new concerns for Hyper Fighting about the use of specific emulators; it's pretty in depth so I'll elaborate on it another day - perhaps in it's own thread - once I've managed to gather all the necessary information and create a video comparison to demonstrate my findings using an appropriate testing methodology. Please look forward to it.
Have you given any extra thought to bringing in one of our mods to help with the heavy lifting process of reorganising and rearranging the layout and runs for the various SF2 boards? Everyone is very eager to see the completion of all the clerical changes that need to be made and I wouldn't mind giving you more pause to properly consider the decision of various rule change proposals that will likely be heading your way in the near future before a decision is reached on them as they are likely to be lengthy discussions before a ruling can be made. I myself have experience overhauling other SF boards in the past so I'm keen to help if that's an agreeable solution.
I understand that you've recently added Slowpoke because you said that you trusted him and I think just that reason would make sense if this was simply in regards to a verifier position but he hasn't been an active SF runner for the past four years, has never had SRC mod experience as far as I can tell and is also not in the official SF Speedrun Discord either so I don't see how that solves the issue of the information and collaborative gap that still exists between you and the community - that last point especially, definitely still needs to be solved if the community is to flourish further in the future.
Because of the above reasons, I'm not quite sure I understand your vetting process in regard to a mod position which is essentially intended as a community representative, could you elaborate on this for us? I'd also like to add that I apologise if any of these questions are giving off the impression of some kind of takeover as that is not the intention; I have a duty as a community representative for other SF games to make sure that our community here has their concerns addressed and feel like they're being heard and it's really difficult to word polarising discussions like this without coming across in that way - in the end we are all simply just concerned community members looking for appropriate representation for SF2, myself included.
Looking forward to further collaboration

I had a blast doing Low% Genocide if your looking for a clear defined challenge without too much new in the way of actual speedrun tricks and strats. I'd recommend trying for a deathless run as a first goal.
One thing I forgot to mention that may be helpful in solving this issue; it does appear that the comparison video I mentioned by @Fromo was comparing with PS4 with a JP CPS2 Arcade Board originally for the purpose of diagnosing the competitive tournament scene with the at-the-time newly forming online scene that the 30thAC would bring at the time.
Most importantly as I understood it before - and I believe this is where alot of the confusion is coming from - it was my original understanding that because of the difference of established default speed norms in pro tournament play that there was an precieved speed shift in how either the US or JP ROMS handled the game speed itself - It's possible that the one region of the original hardware CPS2 Arcade Board itself is actually than other when in direct comparison with eachother respective amount of default turbo speed - which can be seen through it's established tournament standard speed, 3 for JP and 2 for US - but I recently found out thanks to @Rakurai-UK that infact this established difference may simply be due to how convoluted the situation is - here is the summary he proposed to us when it come up in conversation on the discord last night while we were seeking further clarification to bring to you.
[big]30thAC SF II Turbo Short Summary,[/big] Non-international version = no japanese roms International version (sold in Japan) = both international/japanese roms Super Turbo US version = broken AI difficulty, turbo setting 0-3 Super Turbo JP version = fixed AI difficulty, turbo setting 1-4
I'm also unaware of how much of this affects Hyper Fighting or the other iterations so as I'm sure you can imagine there's alot of info to go through but suffice to say there's alot up the air here - the main reason being because the only thing the rules mention is it's adherence to "default" which is not super well defined with everything in flux as it seems to be between different versions of the game. I've been informed that a US Turbo Speed of 0 is equivilient to JP Turbo Speed of 1 - these are the kind of things that need clarification in the rules so more people arn't confused when they simply see a verified video at a greater than "natural" to what they're used to seeing turbo value and see it's been approved.
As for the 30thAC itself, should more testing be done in the future we will need someone with either real Arcade Hardware or a Mister FPGA in order to cross reference turbo speed values across different iterations of the game like Fromo did - but for our specific purpose instead to find what we need. and frankly I think until that additional testing can come to pass we won't be able to put this to bed with 100% clarity so in light of that it does seem right to me to separate them for the time being until it can be proved to be accurate with all these concerns floating around.
I noticed 30thAC isn't listed in Shoryuken's wiki at all but I hope this link too helps identify version differences to accommodate any changes that may need to be made. https://srk.shib.live/w/Super_Street_Fighter_2_Turbo/FAQ If anyone is else able to help fact check while linking their sources to help us expedite the concerns I'm all ears but I'm sure it's pretty easy to see by now that this particular issue is much more loaded than the other leaderboard issues that I've brought up.
[big]Quick TL;DR now since I seem to have rambled a bit[/big]
• Super Turbo US version should have it's proper default speed requirement of 2 clarified in the rules • Super Turbo JP version should have a proper default speed requirement of 3 clarified in the rules • Anything past this belongs in Extra Speed-type category, prefrably in the way I have described in previous posts • This is because US 0 = JP 1 and US 3 = JP 4 They are the same thing just renamed and restructed
What this means for Hyper Fighting I'm not sure, it is likely to be the same but that would need to be confirmed.
• Until decisions on a definitive category split of 30thAC can be made I believe the best course of action is to do so as a temporary measure until it can be proven not to have any edge over the official hardware standard
Edited for clarical corrections.
I actually brought this proof to you 8 months ago via DM already and it's still there in our old messages. Additionally, as I have already stated in my previous post there was a thread made about this issue in the SSFII Turbo forums by a concerned member where I replied by reiterating the proof of concern - that was a little over 3 months ago and the information presented on this occasion was also ignored. Here's the thread link and associated video for you once again for reference. https://www.speedrun.com/super_street_fighter_2_turbo/thread/qd6nf
I'm not sure what your reasoning is for not considering it worth a response but the reason it's being brought up is because it's already been significant for a long time already and it's the reason every other active Street Fighter Speedrun community has already made leaderboard changes to accommodate this finding (other communities did their own independent tests and have their own videos to accommodate it ofc, they didn't just use SF2 data to apply an umbrella decision, they investigated however in this case that initial work has already been done, it simply needs to be acknowledged and applied. It would be interesting to see truly how deep this can go if specifics of the split were to be tweaked but it's already undeniably an issue when compared in direct completion with Arcade that the 30thAC without restraints has an unfair advantage)
There are many people who would like to do runs but don't feel like there is a level playing field to compete with because 30thAC currently has this unfair advantage compared to both real hardware and arcade perfect emulators such as WolfMAME - it's because of this context that everyone was finding it so jarring to see you verify your own runs as you yourself were primarily a 30thAC player and so it gives an impression of inauthenticity when you were doing so after being informed of this proof of concern. This is the heart of the concerns about verification accuracy that @DWednesday was talking about in this thread's initial creation post.
Hey again Andy, Now that I've been able to share the collective mod thoughts of the SF Speedrun discord I'd like to take a little bit of time as myself to elaborate on some of the specific problems existing with the leaderboard and some potential solutions I've come up with based on our feedback from the community that was expressed to us and talked through our community discord.
[big]First and most prominently,[/big] I believe an overhaul of the layout and structure of categories and it's rules are in order. There's currently no sense of uniformity across all five of the SF2 derivatives that you mod for; please refer to the below example taken from the current leaderboard layout
[big]Regarding character-specific times[/big] Because we have an overwhelming majority of people wishing for a reform of the main boards for the sake of clarity I believe the best way to go about this is to consolidate all character times into a single Arcade category with a sub-tab difficulty toggle. To compliment this, individual character IL's can be made to show the IL tally – this format refocuses and encourages community competition for everyone without singling any party out or creating extra confusion.
In short, people should be able to speedrun the way they wish to within reason and as long as there is a community desire for it, which beings me to my next point...
[big]Regarding the Extra Speed category[/big] It's because of this reason above that I don't believe including this category itself is a bad idea and infact, to my knowledge based on the feedback we've received in the discord there isn't anyone seeking it's removal – rather it's the implementation that's done very poorly. We believe a good template to work from as an example is how the “Maximum Alpha” misc category was implemented on the SF Alpha 2 leaderboard – as a misc category tab that's tied to game difficulty; we went through many different iterations and subsequent community feedback before we all agreed on this format which is why it was so jarring for many of us to simply see you add it without even so much as an announcement post to accompany it.
Should a mediator between our discord and yourself become appropriate to fill the void of the information and discussions you're lacking the ability to see first hand with the rest of the Street Fighter community, we are happy to assist with the actual facilitation of such changes – it is after all a big task to undergo an overall of all five of the boards in question that you mod for but by my estimate based on previous leaderboard overhauls I've done myself all the SF2 boards combined should be able to fully completed easily within a week at most.
[big]To summarise...[/big] Here's a quick rundown of all I've discussed within this post as well as a quick mention of some things that may not already be as obvious as I think them to be for clarity's sake with regard to all five of the associated leaderboards that I mentioned in my previous post in this thread; SFII – The World Warrior, SFII' – Champion Edition, SFII' T: Hyper Fighting, SSFII - The New Challengers and SSF II Turbo.
• A visual overhaul for all five leaderboards in order to promote healthy competition and clarify existing uncertainties within their official rules
• A standardised category split for specific platforms across all five leaderboards in order to acknowledge and accommodate the arcade imperfections of certain emulators and ports to once again allow an even playing field across all platforms.
• Consolidation of all categories into one single Arcade tab with alternate difficulty sub-tabs for Hardest difficulty and Extra Speed that is all organised by platform first and foremost (The ordering process for categories and their sub-tabs would look like this:
Arcade / Anniversary Collection / SNES / Genesis ARC Default / ARC Hardest / Extra Speed (Misc)
• Following main leaderboard consolidation, character-specific records should be represented under the IL section of the leaderboard which is a very easy way to show and promote individual character times without the clutter (only mainline rules, not the alternates like Extra Speed)
• A mod from the SF Speedrun Discord can be arranged as an mediator and co-mod of the leaderboards to help assist you with the actual heavy lifting process of overhauling all associated leaderboards in addition to solving the communication problems that have plagued the SF2 community and preventing anything becoming lost in communication in the future since you do not use Discord yourself to communicate with the SF Speedrun community.
