That Explains it I took the freaking Combat knife...ffs was a good run as well 2:36 oh well back to the drawing board. thanks!
Using the car isnt even faster, you lure jack to the car like in the any% runs, get in, once he gets close then get out, he will then get in the car and you just knife him till the final crash, he should crash the car twice and on the 3rd crash it should be done, its alot faster, i plan to do it that way in my new game runs anyway.
I figured running him over 3 times and then waiting for him to knock himself out was faster. As knifing him you have to avoid his donuts and keep on the driver side. At some point he does 3 donuts in a row.
I mean you should time it, see for yourself, im not sure honestly, but i think using the knife may be a little faster, then it also fits in with the melee only rules so theres no confusion then.
It is faster to get in and out of the car and spam knife him. In two crashes he is dead. Just hug the side of the car and run with him as he moves. You do not take any damage and it is very simple.
For the chainsaw Jack fight I came up with a pretty nice strat since using a chainsaw is not allowed. Stand at his back and dance from side to side, he does an animation of looking over his shoulder and he will not attack unless you stay too long on one side. Though, if you move with his attack it will completely miss you. Honestly, the hardest part of the Jack fight is the first phase when he just chain throws you.
For the bug pit, I found it very helpful to spam climb up the ladder. Just keep doing it over and over , she spawns a shit ton of bugs. Then when you get hurt a bit too much fall back to the left corner and heal/slash the bugs. They will not hit you in the corner at all. This part is a very simple/easy encounter as you just rinse repeat.
Honestly, Large Marge fight was really easy and self explanatory. It was honestly a tittle -too easy.
Ohhhh boy, giant Jack is an issue for me. Getting that last eye under his tail is a bitch and a half seriously. Though, recently found out that you can spam slash the general area and randomly you will get lucky and hit it. This should help improve time on this fight -a lot-
Hardest part of the entire run is the two fatties at the end IMO. If you do not get lucky and get the chance to run past and climb up the ladder you are in deep shit. Kill the smaller one first via crouch spamming/strafing around them and move on to the next. I never have a single bit of luck on this fight and end up having to kill both of them. #Feelsbadman
As for the final fight, you can run up and spam slash her face. When she opens her mouth/lurches forward turn around and run back towards the wall. After she stops making the growling...weird noise you can turn back around and continue slashing her face. Also, Mia's knife does not register damage AT ALL for this fight. I am unsure why.
These are some notes I have taken for a knife only run and things I have noticed during my runs. I hope they can help out people trying for a good time, I personally found it a lot of fun running it! My best time is 2 hours 13 mins and 2 seconds. I really hope to see more people doing these runs more so we can find knife friendly routes/strats!
chainsaw jack is interesting i will look into it later, thanks for sharing.
The bug pit is based on the bigger bugs it seems. I aim for them.
for the last eye i usually crouch and knife the area. also if you can get an eye while he's hanging he will fall and lay on his back exposing this eye. also i aim for this eye when he climbs up top.
For the two fatties I usually run to the box next to the ladder, slice and pick up item. run back to where i enter the area. and do a lap behind the rock and climb the ladder. Probably not the fastest way, but seems very consistent.
For the final fight. I dont turn and run when she starts that funnel mouth thing. i just back step back. this takes some timing.
The fatty route you are using honestly sounds faster than killing them. I will need to mess around more on that area of the game. It is seriously a nightmare -.-
I also have been playing around with the knife a bit more and looking for "Sweetspots" like in the old games. If you crouch infront of molded and aim for their torso but have their legs/arms in the hitbox it will register it as 4 hits all at once. I need to practice it a little more to perfect it, but it is useful to know... even if you run past 99% of molded encounters n_n
I will say; on an easy game run, not even knife only I once placed a remote bomb for the fattys but forgot to detonate it and ran up the ladder. They didn't attack me at all, a lot of the enemies attacks are randomized, same as their "expressions" like jack standing and giggling in the garage.
The combination of them spawning and loading, then the possibility that they miss with their puke can let you up the ladder instantly, thats luck though.
if you kill the smaller fatty then lead the other one onto the slopes that are placed around that area then run down you can get away from him as it is hard to try and get both of them away without either one of them hitting you off the ladder
