Speed Advantages
Updated donnaken15
by - At the start of a race, hold throttle in reverse. When the announcer goes on "Three," hold throttle forward, and vice versa for "Two" and "One," and you'll get a little speed boost and either a +1.0 or +3.0 boost, depending on your boat level.
- If you get the above speed boost, a few seconds after starting, try hypersliding to go faster than you would by accelerating using the standard boost.
- Hull a Hull Crusher crate to crash anyone near you to get their boosts for a short period of time.
- Hull the buoy with eyes to get additional boosts from players that get hit by the buoy. It can be hulled multiple times which can be useful in Frozen Tundra and Down Underdrive. This requires a level 40 boat.
- Having a level 40 boat will override its skill values (speed, power, boost, and stability) and put them at the maximum value, and of course will mean having all the upgrades. However, different boats will still have their advantages and disadvantages over others, such as Raw Thrills slowly initializing super boost engines to allow the player to use it in comparison to Scorpion.
- Try getting some air time in straight paths, while using either a boost or (recommended) super boost to lose more friction as you aren't in water. It isn't fully confirmed, but just having super boost after using a little of it seems to lower the friction that slows you down when in water. An example of this includes Hong Kong Buoy and Wild America just after the first checkpoint, and Temple of Flume after the last checkpoint.
- The above method can be more efficient when hopping after using the super boost.
- Hypersliding in water after reaching a very high MPH will help you maintain your speed, specifically after a super boost.
- Going over ground, such as the secret building in HK, will usually cause less friction. It just works that way apparently. (lol)
