This game has been like, a childhood staple to me, to the point I'm a semi competitve YGO player. I really want to start running this, so here's my idea:

"ThatGuy%" Because I've been in YGO long enough at this point, this run is dedicated to That Guy who comes to games with a chain burn/OP Mill deck. The criteria for this % are 1) Unlock all the characters and 2) ReachED Prince of Games by the end of the First Year. (This is important because you literally cannot unlock Blair or Gerard until the second or third year, depending on how long you stay in Slifer Red, ergo the Prince of Games rank must be achieved in the First Year of IGT.)

The only thing I am really unsure about is if, for a % like this, it would be okay to have all the cards from the get-go? I'm not going to cheat my way up ranks, because card collection % only counts towards the King rank, so would it be ok in a goofy % like this. IDK, I thought it would be funny to do, as a YGO player, to be that one Goat player nobody likes.

I don't see much of a point to having this category with king of games already present.

Think of it like W Fist%. It's like a KoG run, but the stipulation isn't based on being KoG, it's more like "look at how OP this one deck is". There is one deck in the game that has basically 80% win rate, and like most things in Goat, it's an Exodia one. I mean, you could run a card collection%, which is 100% RnG, you could play with a KoG% with a really bad deck. You could make a custom banlist head to head. But I really wanted to show off this one Any% using the stipulations that the game is completed upon receiving all characters and at least Prince rank, provided me being allowed all cards is OK. Card collection is not in the equation, is the only thing.

Hey Shira and welcome! Making categories for this game is kind of hard because the only non-arbitrary thing to go off of (in most games) is when you see the credits you know that you have beaten the game. This is sort of why KoG is the only legit category and everything else is pretty much made up. In your first post you mention that Blair and Gerard can't be unlocked until the 2nd year but you can stay in Slifer since day 1 and they will appear before a year occurs so I'm not sure exactly what you mean. I made a video about how to get king of games shameless plug and has some details about unlocking characters and obtaining all the cards. We have had discussions about a "Prince of Games" category but KoG really doesnt take that much longer to achieve, collecting all the cards isn't really a problem because of the DP farming methods you can use, you basically have infinite money early on in the run.

However, I do want to see a category that can embrace the aspect of deck making that gives you access to all of the cards where you have your deck put together before the run starts. One category I have been thinking about which could be somewhat viable is an "All Duelists" run where you start from King of Games and you have to beat everyone including Chazz/Alexis' lackeys and the Shepard. The problem is that you still have to be in each dorm to duel everyone so it wouldn't be that straightforward, you would have to start in Obelisk blue, beat everyone, pass a exam (hope you dont get a hard practical exam objective), beat everyone is Ra Yellow, fail the next exam, then beat everyone in Slifer as a dropout.

Retroid's post kinda sums this up pretty well, most categories are close enough to KoG to not warrant another category, but if anyone has any ideas about another category that could work out I would love to see another category in some way.
