Two new categories (Berserker% VH NUR and Gná VH NUR -- VH NUR meaning Very Hard No Upgrade Run) have been added to the God of War Ragnarök leaderboard.

These categories were created to be more challenging than the very simple Berserker% and Gná VH categories, which have strats to defeat all enemies in a few hits. The rules for No Upgrade Runs are defined in the rules.

Two new categories have been created for GoW3:

  • Very Hard Glitchless (NG+ glitch)
  • NG+ Very Hard Glitchless (NG+ glitch)

These are glitchless categories use the NG+ glitch, allowing runners to use all weapons and items from the start of the game. No glitch other than the NG+ glitch is allowed.

Gná VH and Berserker King VH categories have been created, the first categories for God of War Ragnarök on the category extensions page. They are similar to the Sigrun categories from GoW 2018, and consist of a single short fight; however optimizing them can be challenging as you need the best strategy, with perfect execution and perfect rng.

These newly created categories are both on NG+. There is no NG equivalent category for now, as on GoW Ragnarök the difference between NG+ and NG is small. In the future, if there is interest, we may create more challenging categories such as with burdens and the Spartan set.

For Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta runners:

If you play on PSP Emulator using a touch screen (only in these conditions), you are now allowed to use a macro button for quick rolling (only for quick rolling), In practice this means that you can assign an extra button to press L, R, and square with a single button, making it easier to quick roll.

Outside of these conditions, macros are not allowed. For any action other than quick rolling, macros are not allowed. If you play on PSP Emulator with a controller, macros are not allowed. If you play on any other platform, macros are not allowed.

To assist on verification, PSP Emulator runners (whether using touch screen or a controller) are now required to show the entire "Control mapping" menu when showing the settings of the emulator after a run.

The Category Extensions page now divides run into platforms, the same way that is done on the main boards. For each game, there are new subcategories for each platform that is avaliable to run, mirroring the division of the respective main board. This also means that GoW1 and GoW2 runs made on PS3 Emulator can now use the patch to skip cutscenes.

A new category has been added to the GoW2 Category Extensions board: Any% NG+ Magicless

Mirroring the existing GoW1 Magicless category, this category consists of the standard Any% NG+ rules, but prohibits the use of magic attacks. Using L2 to cancel rolls and attacks with the Bow or Euryale is allowed, as it does not actually constitute an usage of magic. This means that glitches such as Atlas Jumps and high jumps/long jumps using Poseidon's Urn are banned, while fights will be more difficult as using magic is no longer an option.

The Tycoonius Hard Glitchless category has been moved to the main God of War leaderboard, along with all existing runs.

This is because this category is approaching the time of the NG+ Hard Glitchless category, which if surpassed would make a Tycoonius run valid on the NG+ Hard Glitchless category (since the latter has no requirement on costume). To preserve the current NG+ Hard Glitchless category, it has been renamed and now only accepts runs made with the Cow costume. To avoid having a category for one skin on the main board, and another skin on another board, both categories are now found on the main God of War page.

Also, a new category has been created on for Chains of Olympus: McKratos Very Hard Glitchless. This category uses the McKratos costume, which has increased damage dealt and received, so this is a similary category to the Tycoonius and Fear Kratos categories.
