(NEW) RULES!!!!

Hello everyone! It's good to see this leaderboard so active recently, with all the runners giving their best to grind the ranks!

And after some huuuge time, we announce that THERE ARE NEW AND FRESH RULES!

The moderators sat down and solved some things regarding submits, since there were categories where no one knew how timing starts and all, so now all categories and subcategories have rules to clear up some doubts you all have.

The rules starts to apply today, so no previous run will be affected by it (except The Duel runs, where the new timing will be applied).

Once again, I shall congratulate everyone who's been submitting so far, you are doing wonders finding new strats and new times on the board!

If you have any questions regarding the new rules, reach out to me!

Hello, I read the new rules, I agree with all of them, I just need you to explain to me why not use a savestate to start a new attempt, as a moderator of other games I need to know to implement it or not, because the truth is I don't see that it influences the next game

Reason is very simple: Although we do allow emulators, we also want that the run shall follow similarly as if you would play on an original cartdrige. Hence why we forbid usage of specific mechanism of emulation such as Run-Ahead, for example!

I don't agree, but you are the moderator of your game, where I moderate I will allow it because generally the restart and configuration can take a lot of time that can be used trying to get the game that one needs or is looking for.

Does the save state thing have something to do with RNG values or other game parameters? Just curious about the reason why? Or is it just to have a similar experience as the cartridge players as to failing and resetting?

As previously mentioned, it's for having the same experience as you would play on cartdrige!

there is completely no value in "making it the same experience". its a speedrun, im not resetting the whole game everytime i need to reset 10seconds in. thats stupid. if thats something youre worried about you should split console and emu runs, which likely isnt worth it as no one runs on hardware. "we sat down to discuss" and thats what you came up with? bonkers!

while youre at it at can you remove all my lag on emu? or can you add that into someones genesis?

Sadly co op is going to be a pain for me and my co op partner this way since we rely on netplay. lag and connection issues alone are horrible throw resetting into the mix and it will be a desync nightmare for us.

first , 2 weeks to review videos, now they are "active", but they are back with things like "same experience"?? WTF?? i have a genesis, but its 10 times easier just to play on the pc!! everyone disagrees with you, why you can't hear the players??

I would suggest splitting the leaderboards as well.

@Wedgiroth What do you use for your Netplay? I know some people have had success with using Fight Cade. One other suggestion is to try Parsec if you aren't already using it.

Change all the configuration just for "the same experience" is not ok..... use the common sense

@QwertyQyx I'm using Retroarch with GenesisPlusGX have tried parsec could not get it to work, Gonna give FightCade a try!

well... i have no problem with reseting (since this game have a fast reseting) but showing the reset count as obligatory is kinda weird; splitting into emu/realhardware makes no difference in my vision since everyone will play on emu (dont know if the console has lags, but still) and i have to agree that speedruns are not about the same experience as casual playing... i really doubt that save states before choosing the character changes things like RNG (and i really dont remember a part of the game that has RNG other than the magic bonus stages) so the problem with distance coop can be resolved

we should talk about all of it and be democratic about it, since its a speedrun community, its not about only one opinion, i had problems with other games (even strongly thinking im right) i had to accept just because

its all ok to me, but its not the same to other players...

Hello Golden Axe 2 runners! First I want to start off by introducing myself! I'm Wedgiroth and I'm one of the new moderators for this game and I hope I can help you with all your questions (big and small) regarding the leaderboards and the game itself! We are in the process of figuring out a correct course of action regarding the rules and the way the runs are getting reviewed. I only ask of you guys and gals to be a little patient, In the meantime get those PB's and we will get back to you on this!

Hello! Here is an update on the rules.

First off, I want to apologize for not being more transparent when we decided to update the rules. I didn't realize that the reset requirement would cause such an issue. We will try to post to the board first before going through with any pending rule changes. We will be removing the reset requirement. It is preferred but not required because it makes it easier to verify the run.

General Rules:

Real Hardware and Emulator runs will be valid. If you run on an Emulator, please specify which one are you using and it's version. Only Gens emulator is banned, the rest are fine. Any emulator-specific function to reduce lag is forbidden. Game screen must be fully shown. Avoid having splits covering the game feed or having a bad crop on the video. Twitch/Youtube alerts are valid. Input display on game screen is valid.

Thank you again to all the new runners. It is really nice to see the community really grow over the past year.
