Hi all,
I'm trying to created nested variables (that is, variables dependant on other variables to become available) so that users can define their class while running Puzzle Quest.
This is because an important variable is whether or not they are running with the DLC (this variable is mandatory to declare and is a sub category) but I cannot figure out how to create nested variables, so either players will be able to declare and search for variables not in the base game (Bard, Ranger, Rogue and Warlock are not in the base game) or those variables will be left out of the DLC.
So how can I create variables that are dependant on whether or not the DLC variable is selected or not? Since I much prefer having 3 categories with sub-categories for DLC verses my original of having 6 categories (3 for base game, 3 for DLC) but don't want DLC variables carrying over to the base game.
I have applied already to request a variable for the game's DLC (Revenge of the Plague Lord) which I see no reason that they would deny, so if that application being accepted will allow me to create these nested variables then let me know because would be perfect.
Cheers.
Nested variables aren't a thing, sr.c's variables are a one size fits all
Site staff have said before that they will get added in the future (I think)
As a work around you could submit a run by a N/A player if the category is invalid and shouldn't be submitted to
That is a shame, I do hope they add nested variables since it would be super helpful as you could (in the case of my game for example) have a separate list of classes for a category and sub category. For now, I guess I will have to wait for the DLC request to be accepted and see what that brings, and just append (DLC ONLY) to classes which can only be used in the DLC.
Thanks!
