How to set up timers for if needed.

Hey, some runs don’t need a timer, like how Luigi’s Mansion dark moon/2 hd tells you your time for each run. But for games that don’t, what do we do to set it up? I use the iPhone camera to take my videos, and so how do I add the timer on to it if I have no editing tool?

From the rules: "The time of the run is the time in the video from starting condition to ending condition. It is not the time shown on the timer program, which is started and ended with human error."

The timer helps the moderator though. You can run a timer on another phone and film the screen, or anything similar to that. But what really matters is the rule above.

oh ok thanks so what your saying is I could just start the timer on my tablet next to the console and record with my phone?

Oh ok thanks! Idk why I didn’t think about that lol.

Did it work? Have you done any practice runs yet? I've never played Pokémon, though. Good luck!

Well my switch did a kill itself 'cuz it won't restart correctly and now it won't charge but I did get Fortnite on my phone so maybe I'll do that, I just gotta find and charge my tablet. Also Pokemon games have a built in timer that only runs when not in the pause menu where you can veiw it and do other things so at the end you can just open the menu and look at your play time.

leaderboards nowadays barely acknowledge in game timers, at least for older games.

in game timers can be inconsistent or not precise enough. like 1st gen pkmn (maybe other too) only track down to minutes

oh yea I guess that makes sense they want seconds and miliseconds but what about games like Luigi's Mansion 2 HD / Dark Moon, don't they count seconds?

In-game timers wouldn't work for GSC, or categories that involve post-game like FRLG Elite 4 Round 2.
