Differences between any% and Director's Cut any%
Updated 8 years ago by jelmeree

These notes may help for people who want to run DC any% with the new strats in PenAgain's tutorial, which was made with the original version in mind.

General -The code input has been greatly improved, so in DC you don’t get the multiple input glitch. -This version has more issues with low framerate than the original. There are some registry tweaks you can try for some minor improvements, but what usually gives a good boost in performance is the use of the SetTimerResolution tool. There is a guide on Steam about this topic. -DC is about 20 minutes longer than vanilla because of the addition of Tong’s mission in Hengsha 2 and The Missing Link. -There is no need to wait for infolinks to end before you can talk to people. This means you can save time when talking to Pritchard and Malik for the first time, but also that you can accidentally talk to Josie when you want to grab the revolver ammo from Zeke. -On easy difficulty you’ll regenerate 2 battery cells compared to one in the original or on harder difficulties. This means that you don’t need to pick up as many of the candy bars/packs/jars. -Language timing for TML hasn’t been done yet, so stick with French for now because we know it saves time in the rest of the game compared to other languages. -Inventory management is more critical in DC than in the original, since you need the space to be able to get the grenade launcher and the laser rifle in Hengsha 2.

Prologue -No changes

Sarif HQ -Go straight to Pritchard and talk to him, do not open the doors first like in vanilla. After Pritchard’s talk read the eBook to be safe on XP, and then talk to Malik. For both conversations there is no need to wait for Sarif’s infolink to end.

Manufactory plant -There is no need for the extra explosives in the crate next to the concussion grenade (yet). -With the quicksave/quickload glitch at Zeke you can accidently talk to Josie when you want to grab the revolver ammo from Zeke. When that happens the screen will turn black, but the game is still running. Try to perform a takedown on Josie and the game should return to normal. After that head to Malik quickly as there is a good chance that you don’t have to wait for Sarif’s infolink to end before you can leave.

Detroit 1 -For inventory management’s sake, try to avoid grabbing the grey weapon upgrade near the grenades in DRB.

Fema / Highland Park -Barett’s boss room is redesigned, so getting the emp and frag grenade in the boss room requires you to jump through a small hole in the wall. -At the end try to grab only the grenades and not the orange weapon upgrade (inventory management).

Hengsha/TYM -No changes

Picus -Again, the boss room has been redesigned, which means that you’ll need to open two doors instead of one to reach Yelena.

Detroit 2 -No changes

Hengsha 2 -I wouldn’t recommend setting the difficulty to medium to let Malik die faster, because you will lose the ability to regenerate two energy cells. Get punch through walls and cloak 1 here. -Tong’s mission is very straightforward; you’ll only need one extra password (shit). Accept the grenade launcher when you return to Tong in the harvester's area.

The Missing Link -Lots of stuff, the old tutorial should still be up to date.

Singapore/Panchaea -No changes
