i was so hopeful you could skip all the stupid dialogue, but it really seems like the main camp gates opening only happens after it
i'm also fairly certain if you kill huangfu song before sun jian spawns, the gates will open before it

The missing 54 stages from the two 'NEW STAGE' DLC have been added for a grand total of 305 stages, of which 84 are DLC.
Bonus fact: The Battle of Liang Province has both an original and DLC version. Amazing!
