Route I used was:

• Get level 2 from rocks
• Get level 3 from fish
• Get level 4 while in castle
• Grind to level 9 in Desert
• Grind to level 10 in Frozen palace area (In my case, then grind to 11 for safety against Moray [the Plant in the jungle])
• Kill the orbs after Moray to get to level 13
• Get to level 14 by defeating Hydra
• Beat the last boss

I accidentally pressed stop on the timer with my pinky finger about 2.5 seconds early, so my time is actually 1:14:49
