So, just to be clear, completely new to this. Of all the games I own, this was the one I chose to speed run. Is there a listing anywhere of any skips or glitches that are commonly used? Or any other resource that might be helpful?

I'd watch some of the other runs on the leaderboard to get an overall idea of the route.
