Why isnt Snes9X allowed?

almost every snes game I see allows it. Im just curious because if i have to i will use the only allowed one

I will be looking into snes9x and other emulators in the near future. I see now that we haven't re-evaluated the current ruleset for snes doom in some 5+ years. It's just me at the moment and I recently got a new job where I'm working almost every day, but the goal is to possibly open it up to more user-friendly emulators.

so i really want to make a legit run for the any% category but higan has severe stuttering issues on my machine. i was wondering why higan is the only legal emulator also ? is there any way that i can possibly appeal for the use of snes9x or another more user-friendly emulator ? anyway here's a link to a video of higan running snes doom on my pc. thank you mods for your consideration

Hey Guys.

After doing some research and some consideration on how the game performs with the different emulators. I don't see why we can't allow SNES9x Emulator, as long as version 1.60 or higher is used. I'm going to add it in a day or so. Just give y'all time to respond here w/ any objections for whatever reason.

@MerchGuyMerch You should probably consult the console Doom community before making any changes, as things are the way they are for certain reasons. Specifically, I'd ask Jrmhd91 about the usage of SNES9x emulator.

Upon further research into this matter.

SNES9x can’t be allowed unfortunately. By default SNES9x uses a different way for running the Super FX chip and basically forces overclocking. This makes the game run faster. So unfortunately, snes games that utilize the Super FX chip, need to run on Higan.

Sorry for the bad news. As I prefer the SNES9x emulator myself.. But with some playing around, I did get higan to run just fine. Though I will say the interface isn’t nearly as easy to use..
