== Objective ==
Defeat the Bee Queen as fast as possible in any of the worlds provided, playing as any character other than Wolfgang! You are allowed to use any strategy you want, cheese strategies or in-game bugs and glitches are NOT banned.
The caves must be disabled and the events must be turned off for this tournament. All the other world settings must be kept on default otherwise. The runs must be performed on the current released version of the game. Please keep in mind that beta versions are not released versions.
All standard speedrun.com rules apply for this tournament, unless stated otherwise below.
== Submissions ==
This tournament will be open for submissions starting from 12th of December, 2025 to 8th of February, 2026. You can choose to make your submissions unlisted, such that only you and the tournament organisers are able to see them, or you can choose to make them publicly available.
However, to encourage every player to come up with their own unique strategy in pursuit of a better time, submissions will not be made publicly available by the tournament organisers until the end of the tournament.
You can submit as many runs as you want, and you can submit runs for both solo and duo categories. Every player must provide a recording of their own run starting from the character selection screen until the Bee Queen reaches 0 health.
For duo submissions, both players must select a different character. They must also be present in the world during the entire run, unless a quitout is being performed or it is the very start of the run.
To submit a run, simply send me a DM/private message on Discord (mr.brj), on speedrun.com (ItsMrBrj), or on Klei Forums (mr. brj). Don’t forget to provide your username(s), the date of the run, your estimated time and a link to your video footage.
If you are submitting a duo run, please provide the links to both POVs. If you are submitting a console run, please specify your platform in your submission. In case of recordings that contain multiple attempts, please include a timestamp to the start of the submitted run as well. A speedrun.com account is NOT required to participate in this tournament.
== Allowed Commands and Mods ==
Console commands are banned during a valid run. The only exception is the use of the following command during the character selection screen, which resets the in-game clock to the start of the day: TheWorld:PushEvent("ms_setphase", "day")
The use of server mods except for [API] Gem Core and Disable Autosave is banned in this tournament. This includes the Don’t Starve Alone mod.
You are heavily encouraged to enable Digital Clock or Speedrun Timer + Utility Mod. These mods ensure that your runs can be timed properly and allows verifiers to work more efficiently. You are also allowed to use Status Announcements and Skins extender. All client mods are banned from being used otherwise.
If you are using "Speedrun Timer + Utility Mod", your timer must show the frames, which are values that change between 0 and 29. If you have used this mod in the past, I still highly recommend that you check this in-game before starting with your attempts, even if the options show that you have this feature enabled. The intention behind this rule is to ensure a fair and objectively measurable timing between runners that got a close time, which is otherwise very unreliable to do with milliseconds.
== Pausing and Quitout Rules ==
Pausing is allowed while entering the world from the Florid Postern for the first time. This also applies for the duo run submissions, as long as the host is the first player to enter the world.
You are also allowed to pause the game while interacting with an external container, such as the Terrarium Chest. Interacting with a container with the intention of getting an extra pause is not allowed.
A maximum of 1 quitout is allowed per run (leaving the server and joining back in) as long as you don’t close the game and as long as the quitout serves a game play purpose. You are only allowed to perform the necessary actions to join back into the same server after leaving it.
You are allowed to pause before performing a quitout. If you are submitting a duo run that involves a quitout, you are allowed to keep the game paused until both players join.
As long as a pause is justified, you are allowed to sort your inventory and check your map. Keeping the game paused for taking a break from the game is not allowed, even if the initial pause was justified.
The seeds have been made public! Please note that the worlds below were generated on a Windows device, so the provided seeds will NOT generate the same worlds on other operating systems such as Linux or MacOS. If you are playing on an operating system other than Windows, please contact a verifier so we can send you the cluster files for these worlds. Here is a short summary for each seeded world:
Seed A: (11810) This world is ideal for players who appreciate having the small but significant kickstart right off the bat. It includes an Entomologist Skeleton containing a Beekeeper’s Hat and a boon containing a Marble Armor at Spawn. It also has a boon containing a Fire Staff at the entrance to the Pig King Forest, with Glommer’s Statue and several Catcoon Dens nearby.
Florid Postern, Pig King and Bee Queen are all separated by the Frogs and Bugs biome, making it possible to walk between them without spending too much time. The wormhole in the Pig King Forest leads to Frogs and Bugs, close to Bee Queen, and the wormhole in the Savanna leads to the Graveyard in the Mosaic biome.
Seed B: (1488922) This world is especially good for players that don’t necessarily need to visit Pig King. The Bee Queen is at a walkable distance from the Spawn biome, which houses multiple useful setpieces: a boon containing a Hambat, another one containing 5 ropes, a Maxwell setpiece containing 8 Harp Statues and a Queen’s Gathering.
Additionally, a Mushroom Ring with 15 Blue Mushrooms can be found near the wormhole by Queen’s Gathering, which leads to Bee Queen. The Rock Biome is connected to spawn for a potential Science Machine or Alchemy Engine. The Spawn and Bee Queen’s biomes each contain a Touchstone for Pig Skin.
Seed C: (3728685) This world is a real treat for players who don’t mind taking a longer path to acquire strong equipment. Bee Queen and Pig King are both close to each other and at a walkable distance from Spawn, with Pig King being next to a Crop Circle with 15 Grass Tufts and a Maxwell setpiece with 8 Harp Statues.
Right at the exit of the Mosaic biome, there is a Dapper Skeleton containing a Tophat, a Red Gem, a Blue Gem and a Life Giving Amulet, which is close to a wormhole that leads to the Killer Bee biome with multiple boons, 2 containing a Walking Cane and a Dark Sword. The Bee Queen and the Killer Bees are separated by a corridor made by the Oasis Desert and the Swamp.
Seed D: (9195567) This world is best suited for players who can make the most out of few but rare setpieces. With the Mosaic Biome right at the Florid Postern, there is a Developer Graveyard, a boon containing a Top Hat, and a prebuilt base containing an Alchemy Engine on the way to the Bee Queen.
Additionally, the Swamp near Bee Queen contains two Mushroom Rings: one with 8 and the other with 10 Blue Mushrooms. The Pig King Forest, although being considerably out of the way, contains a Walking Cane. For Pig Skin, a Touchstone can be found by the entrance to the Mosaic Biome.
== Seeding Rules ==
(Posting this separately since it didn't fit the original thread and I forgot to add it here later)
You are allowed to manually preset the post-generation values of setpieces in your world with no restrictions, such as the durability of the boon items or the contents of chests. This does NOT include modifying the drops, the loot or the spawns from entities.
Please note that not every boon allows for 100% durability for items, and that not every item combination is possible in chests. You are also allowed to preset the location of post-generation random placements, such as the location of the suspicious marble pieces (not every tile is allowed to have a marble piece on itself).
For keeping the preset setpieces between attempts, it is recommended to save the game in the character selection screen, use the following command to reset the timer, and to rollback instead of regenerating the same world: TheWorld:PushEvent("ms_setphase", "day")
If your run involves getting a specific but uncommon drop, loot or spawn from more than 1 entity, it is strongly advised that you include an additional means of proving the validity of your run. Here are the preferred ways of doing so:
-
Doing a fast "dummy run" using console commands before your attempt that showcases the validity of the drops, loot and the spawns that are going to be utilised (recommended before the very first attempt)
-
Repeating the same actions on already existing entities of the same kind after a successful attempt, with the help of console commands if desired or needed (recommended for any successful attempt)
-
Including at least the last 2 attempts before the submitted run in your recording (recommended for the third and following attempts)
Please note that this process is NOT mandatory. It is, however, a means of providing additional proof without needing to keep video recordings that will occupy a huge amount of storage if a runner suspects that the validity of their run might be challenged by others.
