Introduction
Right after naming your duck, RCP twice to skip the tutorial, press space and then RCF (or RCF twice) and press tab then space to menu out of the bugged training (you cannot get any levels if you RCP past the training menuing).
Grassland
Talk to the trainer duck then press tab space twice. You will need to train your running level to 130.
Pro strats (extremely difficult, but required for a competitive time) : Press space, then get near the left edge of the training. Then, press right and hold left the frame right after to get out of bounds. You will need to do this about 5-10 times in a row (according to Caarda) to get in a good position. After a while (a bit past 217k), you will die. This will give you 108 levels, and you can get the remaining 22 with the noob strats. Click continue to get to the second training, and from there get near the left edge and do the frame perfect timing again, though you only need to do it twice in a row this time. From there, wait until you get to 11k points, then RCF and press tab space to go back to the hub area.
Noob strats (loses over 10 minutes, but much more accessible) : RCP past the first training minigame (you don't even need to press space first). Then, do the frame perfect out of bounds for the second minigame and wait until you get to 65k points. From there, RCF and press tab space to go back to the hub area.
You can eat 3-4 seed here, if you don't do it now then you'll have to do it before the swamp tourney, but it's technically not required for the grass tourney so it's not a big deal if you forget. I usually get 4 seed here, I've never tried with less than that, but in my run I never get below half of my energy bar, so theoretically you could probably get away with 3 or even 2.
Click the windmill to get into the tournament and RCF to get past the screen that tells you that you need a ticket. Here, I usually manually put my duck into each slot and double click continue to start the tourney, but Caarda seems to just RCF twice instead. I've personally never managed to get this to work, every time I get a duck that instantly runs out of energy as soon as the race starts. For each race, you can RCF as soon as you get past the flag to avoid waiting for the other ducks (you can technically do it a bit earlier, but I prefer to wait a bit to be sure I actually won the race), then either RCF again or click "Continue". After the tourney, double click continue and then click the swamp area (alternatively, it seems that you can simply RCP once you get past the flag of the third race, though I've never tried it myself).
Swamp
You will need to get at least 36-37 swimming (35 makes the city tourney RNG, I don't know what exact value you need in order for it to be consistant). This will usually take at least 8 cycles.
Talk to the trainer, then press tab space twice. RCP past the first minigame, then hold space during the second minigame (do NOT RCP or RCF here, it will make your swimming level NaN which will softlock you, as it will count as a 0 and you will be unable to increase it ever again).
For the third minigame, hold space so that you the instructions are instantly skipped. Try to get a release timing as good as possible (this is the main thing that matters for this minigame), then start mashing space to get past the timing part (which doesn't actually matter that much). Then, press tab space to go back to the hub area, and repeat that until you get enough swimming levels.
For the tourney, do the exact same thing as in grassland, only thing to note is that if you mash continue at the very end, you will usually end up in mountain instead of having to click on it on the area selection screen. Every tourney from now on should automatically redirect you to the next area after you beat it.
Mountain
This is probably the most skill-based part of the run. You need to get 150 flying, which will take at least 30 cycles (but usally more than that).
Talk to the trainer, then press tab space twice. To menu to the third minigame, you can either :
- Press space, RCF twice, press space, RCF twice
- Mash RCF six times in a row (just hold alt and alternate between the C and F keys, btw these keys may be different if the language of the Flash player is different from English).
Do NOT RCP here, as it will cause a similar bug to previously where your flying level will be set to NaN and you will be unable to increase it.
For the third minigame, you will have to line up 3 shots. For the first one, I usually just aim straight at the target and hope for the best (there is probably a better technique). For the other two, I use the bar at the top of the Flash player as a visual cue. The text on the bar depends on the language that you use for the Flash player, though I will still give what I use in French as an exemple, alongside with the menuing required to go from each shot to the next :
- Shot 1 : Aim straight at the target, press tab space once the "Next" button appears.
- Shot 2 : Aim just right below the top bar, slightly after the "e" of "Aide", then press tab right after the shot. Once the "Next" button appears, press tab (again) and space.
- Shot 3 : Aim a little bit below the top bar (but not right next to it), around the middle of the "A" of "Aide", then press tab right after the shot. Once the "Next" button appears, press tab space twice.
Pressing tab right after the shot for shots 2 and 3 is important, as otherwise you will have to press tab twice before pressing space to select the "Next" button.
Repeat that until you get to 150 flying, then do the tourney as described before.
Glacier
This is the most RNG-based part of the run. You will need to get to about 50 climbing.
As usual, talk to the trainer, then press tab space twice. RCP twice and press space to skip past the first minigame and start the second one. This minigame is mostly dependant on the RNG that decides how frequently the avalanches fall and how far away each safe spot is from each other. My general strategy is as follows :
- The average delay for each avalanche will let you skip one safe spot before having to hide again, so if nothing else happens I generally skip the first safe spot after coming out of the previous one. When starting the minigame, if you are very lucky you can potentially skip two safe spots at once, but I'm not aware of it being possible after that.
- If a danger sign appears as you are approaching a safe spot, you should obviously hide in that safe spot regardless.
- If a danger sign appears soon after you leave the previous safe spot (if at least about 33-40% of the safe spot is still visible on screen), then back away and hide in the safe spot. This will ensure that you don't die before.
- If there are less than 5 seconds remaining, I usually don't bother hiding even if there is a danger sign.
During hiding phases, you can also hold up and spam alternatively left and right to farm a few additional points. Make sure that you are not doing that when the avalanche actually appears, though, as it will kill you.
Repeat that until you get to about 50 climbing, then do the tourney as described before.
City
Talk to the trainer duck, then press tab space twice. Press space again, RCF and click "Continue" to skip past the first minigame. From there, do the one cycle jumping strats to easily get 150 jumping (you can find a guide for that here : https://www.speedrun.com/dl4/guides/clnbz). From there, do the tourney as usual. You will actually lose the third race, even by quite a lot, but you should have just enough levels to win the first two races, which is enough to win the tourney as a whole.
Volcano
Click on the box next to the shop, then RCF 3 times. Click on the champion, click "Start race", RCF past the duck selection screen, and click "Start race" again to start the final race.
To win the final race, simply hold right, and jump before the 3rd, 4th and 5th lava drops to avoid them. At the second section with small platforms above the lava pool, make sure to NOT hold right when landing, as this can sometimes kill you due to your duck slightly clipping through the floor and the platforms being closer to the lava compared to the first section. It's generally better to take your time here than die and choke at the very end of the run.
