Hey everyone in the Distance speedrunning community! We've got some exciting news from Refract after a long wait. Check out the fancy new devlog for more details, but here's the speedrun implications:

1. Nominate Your Favorite Workshop Levels

Jordan wants our list of favorites from the past few years (since September 2019) to be included in the next version. With thousands of community-made levels, it's your chance to nominate the cream of the crop. Jordan's set up a Google survey for us to submit 3 workshop items each.

2. New Maps & Affected Speedruns

All the new maps included in the upcoming game update will be from these community submissions. Of course, new maps also means some speedrun categories will be affected. If more maps are added to existing level sets, then all runs that include any of the changed level sets will be invalidated (and moved to the corresponding "Any Patch" subcategory). So it'll be a good time to get new runs submitted immediately after the update when the boards for those affected level sets are empty.

3. PS4 & PS5 Versions on the Horizon

Jordan is finally closing in on the release of the PS4 version of Distance, and a PS5 version is also in the pipeline. These new platforms will be added to the board when they're released and could have further implications for the speedrun leaderboards, so keep an eye out for updates on how these platforms might affect runs.

Refract has had a long journey with Distance, and Jordan's thankful for our support. Show your love by nominating some community maps and get ready for an exciting grind on some new official maps!
