What difference do the seeds make?

I was running challenge% and naturally using the 555612 seed when i thought id do sub-splits for each level, so i looked at my pb to make ones such as '3 jump canyon, diplo tarpit, long tarpit, t-rex egg mountain'. But as soon as I ran i realised that the only level that seems to stay the same with this seed is level 1. Sometimes I can encounter 2 tar-pits with a diplo in a single run and sometimes not at all. Each time i'm definitely using the 555612 seed so what purpose do they serve if it doesn't make each run identical?

For a more clear example of what im saying, if you watch the top 4 submitted runs of challenge%, you can see everyone uses the same seed. Yet on level 4 each run is different. I encounter the rock pit with an ankylosaurus, then a waterfall. Scypher encounters this as well, however DomToblerone gets the meteor striking the lake, the downhill boulder roll, then the ankylosaurus pit, then the diplodocus in tar, then the waterfall. Finally Renusek get's the akylosaurus pit, then the meteor striking the lake, then the downhill boulder roll but never sees the waterfall, not once in the run. So it doesn't seem like entering the seed actually does anything

Hey Toastie. I have unfortunately noticed this too, and did bring it up in the other forum briefly. I tried reaching out at one point on the Pixeljam Discord, but unfortunately I got no response back from it. I guess it's just the way it is, although it does kinda make the Challenge% a bit redundant. Unless there is a fix for it that somehow gives the same level that is. Given that it is the case perhaps it would be better for the leaderboards to change such that it has the same structure as the Enter Planet D and Halloween Hellrun playlists. I would like to hear the mods thoughts on this.
