Has the admin had time to look at the run yet?
You can apply to take over and verify your own run if the current admin is not responding, Im curious to see the 8 Hour run.
Settings can be changed without C-Bills showing any change, So the settings check is required to make sure nothing is changed, You could probably get away with just settings and inv screen at every segment there is a break, Any changes to pilot roster or Component's will show in a change of C-Bill's as you stated.
In the end its up to the admin though, And if they want a pilot check on cuts, Its not that hard to flip to another screen a couple of times a run, Most people have the run between 8 - 9 hours, So its safe to assume there will only be a couple of cuts for every run.
The integrity of the submission comes into question at some point, From my experience a MW5 run is very RNG orientated, So any manipulation of runs by slicing 2 or 3 together will need to be monitored.
Reaching out to the admin and asking them to create a 2nd catagory could also be an option, The MW5 run is pretty long, So we should try anything that makes it more accessible.
Time is a huge factor...
These Marathon runs are crazy but alot of fun to prep for. All my trial runs are sitting around 8-9 hours with plenty of time to save, The issue is finding a spare 8-9 hour stretch in my week so I can run it and record it in 1 sitting, Not to mention running segmented practice runs is no were near as demanding as staying on target and focused for 8+ hours straight. With MW5 Clans announced and coming soon, I feel now is the time to run MW5.
If its a mission skip run, It should only take 10 or so mins, So maybe doing the run and recording it would be the best solution, Proves the exploit and the fact it is repeatable with very little effort, That way the mod and community can see it for ourselves and decide if its something that is viable for future runs or something that needs to be ruled out now.
Mission skips and massive skip exploits are always a double edged sword in speedrun communitys, Yes you can do them and there funny, But usually it will just cause a new catagory to be created rather then some new hot strat, especially if its skipping the majority of the game, Most people who run these old games are doing it so they can play them, show off old skills or apply new ones, Not sit in menu's for 7 minutes and gain a WR.
Its pretty safe to assume if a skip is large enough it will at the very least warrant a discussion about creating new catagorys, But that conversation rarely happens before someone submits the skip.
Skipping tutorial is kinda an option now since they added the option in the menu, I know the current WR did complete it, But in my eyes there is just no need with the updated additional ways to skip it, If there was an exploit that allowed us to skip it we would use it, So with that in mind I see no reason to include it in the run, The game is already sitting on 6+ hours minimum, I don't want to add more time to the run...
12 hours is no where near what is possible, I have personally routed paths well under 7 hours if executed perfectly solo, A 4 man run with a short route should be able to see 5-6 hour runs depending on early RNG with mechs and execution.
I don't stream, I just record my runs and upload to YouTube, But I would recommend just editing all 4 POV's together afterwards, Although I would argue all 4 POV's are not really needed for a valid run, Thats not my call to make, So including all 4 is a safer option.
Im excited too see what you guys come up with and im happy to have some company while I run the game (Although im running solo category)
Cant see any reason why not, With only 2 runner's there isnt any reason to not be liberal with the rules and get more people running the game. The mod for MW5 hasn't been online for over 2 months though, So be patient if you guys make a submission and im sure they will get around to it eventually.
I personally started running MW5 a few weeks ago, My advice is to route and path a way through the campaign before starting, There are alot of options when it comes to building rep and shortcuts can be taken if you plan a decent route, Also my advice is too not move to assualts to early in the campaign as in mission speed saves the most time, some mission sit in the 15 - 20 minute range and taking a 80+kph mech can really cut those times in half.
As for DLC I have been personally running Kestral and thats it, Seen as though its a free DLC and pretty much just an update, I figure its ok to use, Its missions make the run ALOT nicer so I think of it more as QOL then anything, The added HERO RNG is also a nice little bonus for mixing runs up.
From what little information I could drum up it seems all the runs have been completed on the 'Mektek' Repack of the game, Specifically Mek Pak 3.
https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Studio_MekTek,_Inc
From my understanding it is impossible for someone to get there hands on the repack from Mek Tek these days due to legal reasons.
Just thought id give everyone a heads up, While MW 4 Merc's retail can still be purchased via ebay and old games listings the Mek Pak 3 version cannot be downloaded without breaking laws.
I am 100% on board with some kind of standardization moving forward.
I have looked into auto splitters in the past but they require a level of knowledge I just don't have, Although like you stated its hard to know what version people are running considering not a lot of people have a retail copy available to them.
Let me know if you need help pulling the loading times from the runs and I can make myself available to help.
What version was the run completed on and is there any chance you can include it in the rules?, There are some huge difference between my retail version and the current world record video.
Menu Splash at the start of the run says MP-3 and is clearly not retail, I Just would like to know the version so I can try a few runs myself, Trying to match the pace on retail is hard considering the differences I am noticing.
