Just posting a video showing some of the quicker boss kills you can get with the Jumpercut!
Naifu boss is "FILE NOT FOUND" for a quicker reliable boss kill, but I included it here because more data is always better. I do find she is more susceptible to counter-hits though. I have yet to try any of these strats, or any runs in general, on Easy difficulty.
Anyone know why Jumpercuts dish out random damage at times? Hmmmmm...
Editing to say that I realize from my input display it looks like I'm holding Down and Up at the same time, but in the emulator this is disabled. I am a keyboard player, which DOES make this technique a hell of a lot easier, admittedly.
Hey all! I've been seeing more people play this game than ever before and it inspired me to finally get off my butt and get off my grind for a moment to make this tutorial/compilation of the speed tech I use, some fun Easter eggs I've found, and some of the new discoveries I've come across like the logic behind item drops and if this new floor drop technique I've found can be useful anywhere (yes we have floor drops in Goonies 2 now but spoiler, I don't think they're helpful for any of the runs...yet). I tried to keep it as succinct and informative as possible!
Thanks to all the mods and the runners! GLHF! \m/
Yo, what up!
I was streaming last week and accidentally made a discovery. Please take what I say with a grain of salt as I am not a Ninja Gaiden expert. It appears that the loading zone for the 3-3 boss is just left of your spawn point in 3-2. I was using a game genie code created by Displaced Gamers which gives Ryu maximum knockback and trying to build a segmented run for funsies, took a hit, and got yeeted directly into the loading zone for 3-3. I have tried to reproduce this without the cheat, but have come up with nothing so far.
Here's a video of the discovery. Please read the video description as it contains more of my thoughts and details on previous attempts to reproduce the glitch.
Hopefully, we can find out if this warp is a real thing, a funny thing, or a real funny thing haha :'D
GLHF!
Hey so the boss kill glitch from Power Blade also works here. Feels frame perfect though, ugh.
Hey yo! I recorded a run of Haunted Hills and hoping I can submit it. I've speedrun Haunted Hill/Halls on NES Action 52 as well so it'd be funny to open up the categories for both of those games lol.
Since I couldn't find any rules I adhered to the rules I see here for other games, and what I see in the NES Action 52 boards.
-Runs were reset with the pause+C method, timing started (roughly) when I selected the game on the main menu.
-Emulator is NESHawk core in Bizhawk.
This isn't a deathless run yet, but I'll keep grinding for it. I had a deathless run on like 3:4X pace die on the 2nd to last jump, so I think a sub 4 is possible with the routing I have.
Thanks to the mods and the runners! \m/ <3
Hey there! Wanted to inquire about the proper way to do run resets. I read "no save states" so I use the "reset emulator" method - but, I was wondering if it's okay to use the emulator's fast forward feature to skip through the somewhat long "Wolf Team" intro. I figure that at least show the game was reset, but I'm unsure if fast forwarding invalidates the rules.
Typically I was resetting a lot at level 1 if I didn't get a good start, but fast forwarding through the intro since it allows me quicker attempts (my submitted run coincidentally let the intro play out since I was taking a sip of water). I might pull my hair out if I have to reset so quick and let the intro play out... and I'm already bald! :'D
Thanks so much! \m/
Yo!
I tried this TAS jump from McBobX's newest Goonies 2 no "super jumps" TAS and found it is humanly viable. HUGE risk for very little reward, but I'm happy to show it's possible at least!
Nice! \m/
Yo yo!
Made a little commentary video explaining some of the tech in my run, including the enemy despawn strats. There is another video where I outline the despawn strats in segments and then in RTA: that video is linked in the youtube video and is also a forum post here.
I'm resting on this record for now, but will continue to hunt around for game-breaking glitches when I can. Let's see if we can do something crazy and break another minute barrier xD
Hey there, I made this video a couple of weeks ago and forgot to post it. I've discovered you can kind of have control over how enemies spawn, and it might have to do with some sprite overload or something like that. With this knowledge we can manipulate the game to give us free passage through some parts you have to typically wait for.
These 3 time saves in Act 2 are what brought me to my 5:04 pace, but for the current WR of 4:48 I found a few more. When I finally make a commentary video about the WR I'll include mentioning them.
Maybe someone else will find more enemy spawn manipulation, or maybe I will... who knows lol.
Anyway, here's the video! First it shows the 3 manipulations in segments, and then how it looks like if you get them all in a single run (the current 4:48 WR only got the first two, and getting the third would probably save another 1-2 seconds).
Hi there! Noticed there was no category for Haunted Halls of Wentworth, so of course it was just masochistic enough for me to give it a try! I noticed in the Forums that one way to submit a proposed run/category/game, was to just submit the video here. I will post a YT link at the bottom, and if anything needs to be done by me, or it mods want to retime it, please feel free to do so or let me know what I can do :)
For anyone interested: I played this game as a joke after clearing Super Castlevania IV on stream, then it started to become a thing because I couldn't beat Haunted Halls stream after stream. 17 hours of streams later and we finally cleared it, and then I thought, why not torture myself with a 1cc clear? I developed a technique for quick kills on the boss, and thought I had something good enough to submit.
Played on Bizhawk, game reset with the Start then Select method.
Thanks so much!

Hey there!
Does anyone understand how/why/when the Pink and White Quadrunners spawn (the ones which come up from behind no matter your speed and knock you off the road)? I've ran the same track multiple times in a row, reloading with save states, and sometimes they appear and sometimes they don't.
My first guess is that it has something to do with sprite limitations or how much the game can load into memory at one time, but I figured I'd field my question here as well just in case anyone has more information. Thanks!
Hey there! Fellow Mach Rider here (1st racing game I ever played, and one of my first games ever), and I recently made a video compilation of all the tracks in the game, for science! I assume the optimal routes for speedruns are already decided, but I figured it still could be helpful data to have on hand.
"WE are Mach Rider!"
I've read the rules for the category but don't see this addressed... are we allowed to pick Salamander for our submission? Thanks!
Hi to the other mods here. I know I'm a mod now but I wanted to ask for permission on this (also don't know how to do it). My friend runs a Martial Champion Discord server and I'd love to pin it to the main page of this game so other fans can get involved in the community.
Is that okay, and also if it is, how do I do that? :D
@BOSSCAT @DBcade @NintenLew Thanks!
After a few runs the other day I was perplexed as to why my "Hardest" difficulty run was a minute quicker than my run on "Easiest." I showed my run to my friend (he and I are kind of superfans of this game), and he noted that both myself and the computer's damage output had nearly doubled on "Hardest." So I guess if you want a quicker time overall, jack the difficulty up! :D
Personally, I like this damage output increase. The game already felt pretty volatile, but now it's just nuts! XD
Hey there! So sometimes there are instances in this game where in my heart, I know I'm pressing jump and it feels as if the game just eats my input. This usually happens after I'm landing for a jump, or sometimes close to the edge of a platform or ledge. The best way I can describe it is that it feels like Mikey can only jump during certain frames of his walk animation. It's probably my own error, but I was wondering if anyone else has felt this phenomenon or if there was a technical explanation for it. Thanks!
This game is pretty much unplayable in a competitive setting if one or both players know the secret tech. That secret being that there is relatively no recovery frames on certain characters' projectiles, and that almost all attacks have an infinitely extending hitbox which reaches above and below the sprites.
The real challenge of this run is being patient with a bit of RNG dealing with the enemy hopefully moving closer to you, and not you having to move closer to them. Past that point, it's about launching off as many attacks as you can, and being in the right spot to perform a Round-1 fatality. Performing a Round-1 fatality is a trick or a glitch, and it's also why the 100% run of this game can be shorter than the Any% or any run where you do not make it to the final boss due to not performing enough fatalities.
Hey there. I was wondering if anyone would mind about this possible rule change for when running a full-cup attempt.
Before I was made a Moderator of this game, I believe the rule was that for any failed attempts you must quit out and begin from the beginning. I asked about this rule change for Individual tracks (to save time on having to quit to the menu over and over) and another Moderator said that would be acceptable. So for individual tracks, you can just restart and do not need to quit to the track selection screen. That's very nice and cuts down on time spent in runs.
I would like to ask that the same rule be applied to the full-cup runs when you are in the first track of the race. I understand it looks nice to have the full-cup runs start from the track selection screen and show the first track being played, but having to quit out to the menu adds about 10-15 seconds of time spent just waiting for loads.
If you have any thoughts, let me know what you think of this, I will still go forward with the old rules for now until other community members chime in - or at some point I might get tired of quitting out of the cup just to have to re-enter it, and I'll change the rule myself lol.
All the best! ThatPunk_MachRider
Hi there. I'm wondering why I cannot find Mega Man 4 anywhere on this site. Am I losing it, or is there a reason there are no runs for it? Thanks in advance!
Hey there! I don't see an entry for Mega Man 4 and was wondering if there's a reason for that. Maybe I'm blind, but I don't see it anywhere :/. Thanks in advance!
