Just posting a video showing some of the quicker boss kills you can get with the Jumpercut!
Naifu boss is "FILE NOT FOUND" for a quicker reliable boss kill, but I included it here because more data is always better. I do find she is more susceptible to counter-hits though. I have yet to try any of these strats, or any runs in general, on Easy difficulty.
Anyone know why Jumpercuts dish out random damage at times? Hmmmmm...
Editing to say that I realize from my input display it looks like I'm holding Down and Up at the same time, but in the emulator this is disabled. I am a keyboard player, which DOES make this technique a hell of a lot easier, admittedly.
Hey all! I've been seeing more people play this game than ever before and it inspired me to finally get off my butt and get off my grind for a moment to make this tutorial/compilation of the speed tech I use, some fun Easter eggs I've found, and some of the new discoveries I've come across like the logic behind item drops and if this new floor drop technique I've found can be useful anywhere (yes we have floor drops in Goonies 2 now but spoiler, I don't think they're helpful for any of the runs...yet). I tried to keep it as succinct and informative as possible!
Thanks to all the mods and the runners! GLHF! \m/
Yo that's awesome @Bumbledon, I hope you find something good! You can read my YT video description if you wanna know everything that I've already tried, and things that I wonder if they would work. GLHF! \m/
Yo, what up!
I was streaming last week and accidentally made a discovery. Please take what I say with a grain of salt as I am not a Ninja Gaiden expert. It appears that the loading zone for the 3-3 boss is just left of your spawn point in 3-2. I was using a game genie code created by Displaced Gamers which gives Ryu maximum knockback and trying to build a segmented run for funsies, took a hit, and got yeeted directly into the loading zone for 3-3. I have tried to reproduce this without the cheat, but have come up with nothing so far.
Here's a video of the discovery. Please read the video description as it contains more of my thoughts and details on previous attempts to reproduce the glitch.
Hopefully, we can find out if this warp is a real thing, a funny thing, or a real funny thing haha :'D
GLHF!
Hey so the boss kill glitch from Power Blade also works here. Feels frame perfect though, ugh.
Hey just a li'l update, I knocked a minute off this time. Got all the RNG checks to go my way. Hoping I don't ever have to play this game again lmfao.
Also I noticed I misspoke in the above post: Emulator is GPGX core in Bizhawk.
Thanks again to the mods and the runners! \m/
Hey yo! I recorded a run of Haunted Hills and hoping I can submit it. I've speedrun Haunted Hill/Halls on NES Action 52 as well so it'd be funny to open up the categories for both of those games lol.
Since I couldn't find any rules I adhered to the rules I see here for other games, and what I see in the NES Action 52 boards.
-Runs were reset with the pause+C method, timing started (roughly) when I selected the game on the main menu.
-Emulator is NESHawk core in Bizhawk.
This isn't a deathless run yet, but I'll keep grinding for it. I had a deathless run on like 3:4X pace die on the 2nd to last jump, so I think a sub 4 is possible with the routing I have.
Thanks to the mods and the runners! \m/ <3
Yo I made a TAS of G-Force Fighters. This is the route I'm trying to go for, but my eyes and hands can't really keep up with my brain at the moment. Feel free to try this route for yourself - it's humanly viable and takes advantage of the extra spawn manips I found. I might give this some more attempts but I also want to get back to my other runs I was working on lol.
GLHF!
Crazy finds haha. I was noting similarities between my G Force runs and what happens in Haunted Halls so I had a suspicion this might happen. I was even revisiting Silver Swords yesterday. Might wanna investigate some more of these titles over time :D
Ooooo you can buffer the start press? Yo thanks, I didn't pick up on that! If I figure out any extra tech or eccentricities with the game I'll report 'em! \m/
Oh also noticing from Beard's run that you can press start on the "level 2" and "level 3" announcement screens to end them more quickly. Good to know!
I think I'm going back to only using one split for this cuz I'm not about to try and time hitting my split AND mashing start to get to the next level lmao.
Hey I'll add to/support some of this too:
-The "shooting early to spawn more enemies" strat is something I was doing also in my runs. It's actually similar to what I do in my Haunted Halls runs. Seems this Action 52 Cart doesn't know how to handle excess sprites or something lol.
-Running into enemies counts towards level progression and you CAN end the level on a collision provided you don't die in the process.
-I also find that enemy patterns are predictable - hell, I was even starting to make a physical map to plan it out lol.
This is a fun run now. I predicted yesterday that we'll see a 37 second time and it seems like we're getting close to that already lol
LOL yeah, fresh eyes and all. Kinda makes you wonder what other hidden rules there are for these Action 52 games ;)
Congrats! That's an awesome find! I just got an 18 second level 1 so yeah, this WR time is def gonna get blown wide open now lol.
Hey there! Wanted to inquire about the proper way to do run resets. I read "no save states" so I use the "reset emulator" method - but, I was wondering if it's okay to use the emulator's fast forward feature to skip through the somewhat long "Wolf Team" intro. I figure that at least show the game was reset, but I'm unsure if fast forwarding invalidates the rules.
Typically I was resetting a lot at level 1 if I didn't get a good start, but fast forwarding through the intro since it allows me quicker attempts (my submitted run coincidentally let the intro play out since I was taking a sip of water). I might pull my hair out if I have to reset so quick and let the intro play out... and I'm already bald! :'D
Thanks so much! \m/
Yo!
I tried this TAS jump from McBobX's newest Goonies 2 no "super jumps" TAS and found it is humanly viable. HUGE risk for very little reward, but I'm happy to show it's possible at least!
Nice! \m/
I just watched your video and haha, yeah that is really weird! Sorry it messed up your run!
I've tried to watch it a few times to figure out WHY it gave you a hostage you already saved and let you save them again - it even looks like the hostage is in a different place than they'd normally be?
I haven't the slightest clue but it def looks like you underflowed the hostage value or whatever. Nice find! Maybe it can be used for good instead of evil in the future :'D
Congrats!
Here is an additional site which can help with keeping track of time!
