Very nice to finally see this game being ran ^-^ Good job on the run! Maybe some glitches can be found that'll help lower the time
Sorry to chime in so randomly, but I messaged a friend directly to try and get mod for himself for this game since he has a run, and the other mods are inactive. Hopefully he will do it for you guys :) Absolute worst case, you could just make a new board entirely. Since it's technically a different game, it probably would be easier and would cause less clutter.
Saw the WR holder didn’t use this, so maybe nobody found it? Unsure, but regardless I hope this is a little useful :)
I'll wait and see how this goes. I barely speedrun anymore, but if I happen to be given the chance again to fix this board up, I think it will be worth hooking up my original Xbox to give it a go.
Yeah, I've noticed some inconsistencies myself that I'd like to fix. I just sent Pat a DM, hopefully he gets back to me with the red sword and I can fix this board up :)
Wouldn't mind it :) Been a little bored on my days off and this board still needs a little more work done with rules and such.
I'm curious as to why my comment was deleted? I don't remember exactly what I said but I know for sure it was nothing that warranted a deleted comment
@SpeedRunFan2022 You can. Under category rules, you can change it to have longer times as world record instead of faster times. So a score of say 1,000,000 would translate to 120:00:000 for example. This is very easy to do, I just forgot to do it when I was a mod for this game.
@Pat_Speedruns I'm no longer on a hiatus so this is something I can do if you want to re mod me for this game. It would be a great category to track, and can be done with ease.
@MerchGuyMerch You should probably consult the console Doom community before making any changes, as things are the way they are for certain reasons. Specifically, I'd ask Jrmhd91 about the usage of SNES9x emulator.
Most categories for this version, including cheat% stuff, is hosted on DSDA. If you want to play and submit for cheat% on this site, use the Unity port.
Sounds good! I may come back to moderation soon I've been thinking about it. At least for this series. I've just been dealing with some IRL stuff that's really taken over my time. Now that things are somewhat better I could probably help. I'll let you know :)
That's what I mean lol it's def not worth bothering with. I would remove the LRT thing you added. It makes the board look weird. Especially on the PS1 board it looks off. Mostly cuz I don't like seeing that time difference. I prefer just the IGT but it's up to you I don't care either way.
I see the issue, it's a mistake on my part. I just looked into and you are correct, IGT is only shown on Mini Championship Mode. Not normal championship mode. I assumed both for Dreamcast had it, I apologize. The notes stating show IGT on the existing runs should be removed.
With that, IGT shouldn't be on Dreamcast, other than for Mini Championship mode. IGT should only be for the PS1 version (Championship Mode only)
This indeed does raise the concern you originally brought up, but unfortunately my conclusion remains the same. Manually removing times is not worth doing for a game not very active. All runs would need a retime, and it would take quite a while to do. I don't think it's worth bothering with. This is just an inevitable reality with old hardware.
I might also be getting very confused, because I'm not sure what run you are referring to. I don't see a run of yours with a time of 38 min unless I'm completely missing it.
The IGT for the current runs that existed when the changes were made were NOT calculated. They were just RTA due to them not showing the IGT at the end. They weren't rejected because the runs were verified prior to adding in the rules. It's up to you if you want to remove those runs to avoid confusion.
Looking at the board again now, I'm seeing LRT was added when it shouldn't be. Dreamcast and PS1 should only have IGT submitted, but RTA for All Tracks and 100%.
My understanding is that loads are not counted in the IGT. Only gameplay itself. If this is wrong, then there may be a need to switch to using RTA only for ALL runs to eliminate this issue, however this will result in console-specific issues like what you originally mentioned. Removing load times manually is another option, but will take MUCH more time to verify a Championship mode run, and probably isn't worth doing.
Championship mode already requires the IGT to be submitted and RTA to be ignored. The current runs on the leaderboard do NOT show the IGT at the end of the video, so I put their times as RTA. The reason for this was because these runs existed before the changes were made, so they're grandfathered in.
All future runs for either of those ports on Championship Mode only are to submit IGT, NOT RTA. However, like I said what you are bringing up does apply to All Track, and 100% categories.
I already did this back when I was a moderator for you guys. Currently, the rules state for both PS1 and Dreamcast that only In-Game Time is to be submitted. RTA isn't to be submitted, I wrote the rules this way because 1) IGT is more convenient, and 2) This exact reason, because I knew the loads varied depending on how you are running the game/type of console.
Edit: Thinking about this a bit later and I totally forgot about the All Tracks/100% Categories. What you mentioned can absolutely affect those categories, however there's not much you can do from a moderator standpoint about different types of lasers, or how the game is played unless you want to ban specific consoles. (Which will kill accessibility in some cases)
You could remove loads, sure but that's kindof a lot of work for a game not very active, but idk that would have to be up to you. I personally don't think it's worth it.
@TimsinLimbo Unknown. For safety, install the game using a VM to be sure if it has the drivers or not. Don't take any chances.
Edit - Tested, is safe. New link in Resources" tab also safe. ^-^
