As has been said already, the satyr sack appears at random somewhere between the 2nd and 5th tunnel you enter. Miniboss-tunnels are faster (due to only having one main enemy to kill instead of 3 waves worth). The only real strategizing you can do to go faster is picking a miniboss as your second tunnel, which we call "3-sack mentality" or "3SM" for short, or picking a regular tunnel second if you know you cannot achieve your goal if the game offers you a 3sack anyway.
Approximate sack odds:
- 0% (impossible)
- 54%
- 30%
- 13%
- 3%
If the sack starts annoying you too much, there is a "modded" subcategory for most categories, where runs are performed with specific quality-of-life mods to cut down on resets and other grinding time, among which a mod that forces a 2-sack every time.
Submitting this is a perk of no FBE, which the modded heat sheet however DOES allow. Zeus special rarity is not a reset-point imo (though is still appreciated) unless specifically looking to speedrun this (but why would you, 62 heat is so rng-heavy), there are so many other solid build-components to look for.
Does anyone use Livesplit to run hades 2?
Yes, some (but not all) runners use livesplit to have statistics of their improvement.
[I] want to know if I should just refer to the igt or include the splits from the recources tab.
Not all categories are timed the same. Some use IGT, some use RTA, and there are plans to time LRT in some categories (though what counts as "loading time" has yet to be determined). Some categories cannot be timed via IGT, most notable examples being the multirun categories. Also, not all runner split will have the same structure or names: Some runners differentiate between boss splits and biome splits, while others don't. Some have meme names as some of their splits, which could maybe cause problems if you're trying to directly compare two splits via name. If you are to want to include Hades splits in the client, the splits files in Resources are definitely a good starting point though.
im developing a speedrun client for all kinds of games
Nice! If you think this is something that could be of interest to the community or you have other questions, get in touch with staff in the discord server, or post about the tool in the h2-self-promo or h2-general channel to show off what you've got going. That place is significantly more active than the forums here. Changes to the used tools and methodologies are usually determined by how much runners use them, so getting runners to try out the thing you've made can be a good way to get the metaphorical ball rolling.
How long does it take to get a run approved?
Depends on the game's current SR popularity, how many verifiers there are, and how much time the verifiers take out of their time per week to check runs.
In the case of Hades 2, time to get through the queue tends to vary between 1 and 2 weeks (new verifiers were recently added, this average may be closer to 1 than 2 in the future). All verifiers do so on a voluntary basis, they cannot be expected to look at runs for more than an hour or two per week.
Mines been pending since the beginning of the week.
From what I can see, your oldest run was submitted two days ago on the 2nd/3rd of April, that is to say wednesday or thursday depending on timezone and time, so a bit less than half a week ago. You can expect it to take another half-week for the queue to empty.
FIRST TIME IN AGES A FF "WR" WASN'T JUST SOMEONE ACCIDENTALLY FILLING IN IGT, WOOOOO! Well-deserved!
For everyone viewing: Highly recommend turning off audio. There's some weird electric-sounding static. :)
There is a notable difference in how mods are handled in speedrunning as opposed to in other places. On the entirety of SRC, like Ananke mentioned, the only mod allowed in unmodded is the colorblind accessibility mod. The only categories on SRC without a modded subcategory is anything FreshFile-related.
In unmodded high heat (not on this website) however, anything that does not affect the run itself is allowed, meaning purely cosmetic mods and the quick-reset mod are allowed there and there exclusively.
In modded high heat (on the sheet again, not SRC), the community decided to allow the First Boon Epic mod.
For hitless / damageless, speedrun.com recognizes the speedrunning modpack as its own category and like all other speedrun leaderboards allows colorblind accessibility, while Team Hitless bans mods outright.
Hope this clears things up!
for anyone else: long pause in eurydice from 10:37 to 29:38. feel free to skip ahead.
One of the most puzzling runs I've seen. This run doesn't run EM2 in the pact (would be to group lernie heads closer together), gets an attack without rarity, gets an awkward first hammer, doesn't see athena until the end of tartarus, doesn't get impending doom, gets bull miniboss, but still manages to win in slightly over 7 minutes thanks to very good rooms and a solid understanding of the weapon. Hats off from me.
Boonless does not exist as an official speedrunning category, because there are a fair few things in the game that can kill the run on the spot.
- Hermes in particular is notorious for having many boons that are difficult not to activate (his dodge chance boons, bonus dashes, hyper sprint, faster attacks / specials, faster movement speed).
- The 8 regular gods also have several boons that would probably kill a run immediately if one were to be forced to pick them up: attack/special/dash on nearly every aspect (since the optimal attack rotation for the aspects usually uses a bit of everything), vengeance boons (one is usually bound to get hit eventually when trying to speedrun).
- Chaos is banned in boonless, meaning that one can not easily avoid situations in which one is forced into minibosses or other boon major rewards. because of all of this, the whole thing would be less skill-based and more based on not getting screwed over by boon rng.
If you feel like the speedrunning page for hades would greatly benefit from an official "boonless" or "boon purger" leaderboard (category extension for example), then join the hades speedrunning discord server and make a post in the #h1-category-suggestions forum about it!
Fresh File is a bit unusual in that regard. The timer must be started manually at file creation if you wish to have one (the verifiers can also just time on their own, if an RTA timer is not present). If you have the autosplitter enabled, it should then split on its own after a boss kill. There also is a bug that may cause the autosplitter not to start, but in that case quit out of the game, close livesplit, and re-open the two programs in the inverse order.
