Yes, I know. There's another guide for getting all EPs. However, I believe that it's best to explain all EPs through a video since images don't really show some mechanical intricacies for some EPs. I didn't create this video, so credit to TeamPlace for putting together a wonderful walkthrough for getting all EPs based on obelisks. 

Please keep in mind that this video was intended casual playthrough, so below the video I will write or link down alternate EP locations or speedrun strats if necessary, based on obelisk with the exception of Boat EPs.

Quarry Obelisk:
Ramp/Lift EPs - You can change up how you can solve this by raising both the ramp and lift at the same time. This can be accomplished by solving either the lift or control panel using the up-position solution, solve the other panel with its up-position solution, then quickly go back to the first panel and cancel the auto solve by starting and exiting the panel.

Angling Ramp EP - You can solve this EP while the ramp is both adjusting its angle and moving to the EP location. The EP's circle will still be at the intended location and solving the EP will have a strange sharp angle shape. 

Brown Bridge EP - You can solve the EP a floor below the intended location (located at the top of the tower next to the laser panel), hence getting the EP does not require solving the Town Environmental Set.

Treehouse Obelisk:
	Purple Pressure Plates EP - You can solve the EP without resetting the pressure plates using FOV clip. For this clip to work, you must solve the panel similarly to the photo below. At the right side of the Back Keep Laser panel at the corner, set your FOV at 120 and look at the green pressure plates. Then, while drawing the EP, go to your settings and change your FOV down to 80, allowing you to clip through the broken pillar and solve the EP.

	Blue Pressure Plates EPs - You can solve both EPs without resetting the pressure plates using FOV clip OR thin clipping. For both clips to work, you must solve the panel similarly to the photo below. For FOV clip, position yourself at the left side of the Back Keep Laser panel, have your FOV at 120, and look at the purple pressure plates. Then quickly draw the line of the Right Blue Pressure Plates EP and when you couldn't move any more, go to your settings and change your FOV to 80 to solve the EP. For thin clip, you want to position yourself at the right corner of the Back Keep Laser panel where you couldn't move anymore. Your FOV must be at 120, but you will not need to change your FOV to clip through. Instead, just solve the EP and when you get to the plank obstructions, just forcefully clip through it.

	Short Bridge EP - You can solve the EP where Right Bridge 11 is unsolved while the second pivot for the right bridge extends to the left seen here in the photo below. This can also be solved while the bridge is moving where the second pivot also extends to the left, though this strat will make this EP timed.

	Burnt Treehouse Shadow EP - You can use FOV clip to solve the EP to clip through one of the spikes from the ground. While drawing the line at 120 FOV, when hitting the spike, change your FOV to 80, which is demonstrated by the video below (if you are unable to clip through, you must readjust your position slightly):

	Left Courtyard EP - Cannot be solved until you solve Exterior 3. Be mindful of the routing improvisation with Cloud Cycle EP; you don't want to do Jungle before Monastery.

Town Obelisk:
	Thundercloud EP - There are two ways to approach this EP. To do it normally, you would first send Desert Laser to the Mountaintop, go through Mountain and UTM, and then open Town Shortcut and then redirect the laser to the thundercloud. After, you do Challenge and exit UTM through the River Shortcut and do Thundercloud EP. Another route is to perform Redirect Snipe where you first send the laser to the thundercloud, solve Thundercloud EP when you are going to Swamp, then at Mountaintop, you snipe the redirect panel to send Desert Laser to Mountaintop. [Needs Set-Up Video]

	Tower Black Line EP - You can solve this EP from Redirect Black Line EP using FOV clip without solving any panels from Town.

	Eclipse EP - If you want to do Eclipse EP normally, you can start the video a bit later and can still start eclipse until he says, "into a ghost town," in, "like so many other New England cities the advent of shopping malls had by the early 70s turned it into a ghost town." You must be ready to complete the EP when he says ". 	Catwalk EP - Normally, you would start the Tutorial video before he shows the artwork since you will need to run to the catwalk to catch the EP. However, you can pause when he shows the artwork with the Catwalk EP circle by drawing the line where video shows it and reload the save. This causes the video to be paused and the EP still works.

I'm turning up mouse sens to make the green ship EP easier, but it helps with all of them.
I still don't have a good setup for the moss EP at speed 5, it seems way too precise.

But the tutorial boat EPs are very consistent, just hold down -> down (for reflection) and up/left -> down/left -> left (for normal).

Camera Manipulation Snipe Setups

I've figured out a couple ways to help set up snipes (specifically, getting into the start of a panel) of the form "line up with reticle + click twice". This was first discovered with the Mountain discard snipe from Treehouse, but over time I've discovered that there are more ways to manipulate this to make virtually any long distance snipe much more consistent.

The gist of the setups are as follows:
0. Have a pre-set 3D sensitivity - I play with default 3D sensitivity, so the specific setups outlined below use that, but the same methods can be used for any sensitivity.
1. Snap fully into a panel to get a known camera position.
2. Walk into a corner to get a known and consistent character position.
3. Look at a specific angle, using the reticle to find a good visual cue.
4. Click to enter solve mode, and click again to start the panel.

Using the trainer, you can see by how much the camera turns with each mouse movement. 3D "sensitivity" is a slight misnomer from what I can tell, all that appears to change is the delta (difference) between consecutive "ticks" (minimum distances) of the camera. This can be used to your advantage. Notably, turning 360 degrees will not be exactly 360 degrees- it will be very slightly off, which allows obtaining consistent values in between deltas for a given setup.

Vertical panning has a maximum look angle and a minimum look angle that are both trivial to reach and pan from. These look down value will change depending on your FOV - for instance, -0.93462 at 80 FOV and -0.65973 at 120 FOV. Sometimes, your FOV will impact the camera pan for some panels, most easily observed in Treehouse.

These two things in combination can make lining up for any long-distance snipe much easier, and has an additional benefit. If you fail a panel, normally you would have to find the start point again. But if it uses this sort of setup, then all you have to do is exit and re-enter solve mode, click again, and you're in.

The best way to discover one of these setups is:
1. Using the trainer, click the start point of the panel you want to snipe.
2. Noclip to the approximate location you want to snipe the panel from.
3. Find a location you can consistently stand in that can solve the panel.
4. Lock view to panel, then immediately unlock and hit "save position". This will save a good set of values to try to match later.
5. Find nearby snap-in points and experiment with similar 3D sensitivity. Focus on matching the vertical alignment first as it's more restricted, making sure to check looking all the way up and all the way down.
6. Spin in place until the horizontal alignment is close enough, or set the 3D sensitivity to minimum to verify that your vertical alignment is close enough.
7. Repeat until you have a good setup.

Using yellow bridge 1 and then the top left corner of the panel with default 3D sensitivity and 80-85 (or higher?) FOV you end up looking directly at the mountain discard start point. The trainer values for this snipe are:

These values don't have to match exactly, and from my experimentation can be off by up to about 0.00015. If for whatever reason you want to try this on Sigma expert, it works with 86 FOV (set via the keyboard with 6 taps from 80 - you can get FOV values in between keyboard ticks).

I use Desert Vault as my alignment for sniping the boat summon panel in Quarry a bit later, so the setup panel doesn't have to be nearby. Notably, this setup requires looking maximum down at 85 FOV and I didn't realize at first - the below values are with that, though this setup just works without the look down at 80 FOV.

Eclipse Skip - Definitive Version

Perhaps the most important glitch of 100%, Eclipse Skip can save an immeasurable amount of time in the run from waiting for Eclipse EP. This is not a guaranteed trick, however due to recent discoveries, the skip has been made more consistent.

Here are the steps in print if you want to read it:

1. Rack up 59 points. You might notice that every time you do runs, you will end up with a lot more save files despite not clicking on New Game. That’s because for every 60 points in a save, a new save file is created. Points are rewarded solving counting panels, EPs, and obelisks you’ve solved in a save file and the game tracks that score as you solve puzzles throughout the island. So, if your save file says 80 +22 +0, then that means you have 102 points because it’s the sum of 80 + 22 + 0. 
So, all you need to do is to get everything in Tutorial and Glass Factory (both will have a sum of 49 points), solve Windmill Door, Windmill Control Panel, Theater Entrance, all videos EXCEPT Eclipse Video (we'll get that after), and both Window and Doorway EPs. Alternatively, you can replace the Windmill Control Panel for Orchard 1 if you want a consistent Town route with Windmill EPs.

2. Before solving Eclipse Video, open and close your menu. If you don't, the save file will have a set-back of at most 1 minute.

3. End with Eclipse Video as the 60th solve. It opens the video so that we pause the video, we don't need to resolve Eclipse. Since you now have 60 points for a save file, a new save file is created containing a panel less than the file you are running.

4. To consistently set up the glitch, create 5 new save files (credit to gaesenpai for discovering this consistent method). 

5. Pause the sun part of the video. Go to the Eclipse Video Panel and without solving, draw the line where the sun is a full circle. Then, in the save menu, load the file 5th file from the top. Since you did not actually "solve" the Challenge Video panel, it will be in a paused state and will affect every save file you open where they will be paused at the sun portion as well. Do this 4 times (or every save file is paused at the sun portion).

6. Pause the corona part. After having every save file pause at the sun, you want to do the same thing for the corona part. Again, draw the line where there's the full eclipse in the video and then load the fifth save from the top. 

7. Repeat steps 5-6 again if the glitch is not set-up.
8. What to look for. After pausing the corona part of the video, you should expect that other save files will be infected. Upon entering a different save file, the video will have the corona part paused. But sometimes, you may see the sun paused upon loading a save even though you have paused the corona portion of the video. By doing the set-up stated in Steps 5-7, you should be guaranteed to successfully set-up this glitch. If not, I would recommend restarting the run unfortunately. If it does succeed, then you can leave theaters and do stuff. Once you come back to Town is when you will grab that EP.

8. There is some luck involved. If the eclipse video jumps to the end before you can start Eclipse EP, it's an automatic reset. But if it doesn't, you can start the EP after getting Town Transparent. There, you must hold the ESC button (or basically your menu button) to speed up the Eclipse EP. This is because the skip depends on the sound entities to overflow. Once the sun turns into the corona on the theater screen, now you can grab the EP! Congrats, you just skipped Brian Morarity's lecture!
9. For routing when exiting Theater, get the Orange Crate and its Discard, Tractor EP, and complete the Orchard Set. Then, continue the route for Symmetry, Desert, Quarry, Treehouse, Keep, and Shadows, then go to Town and wait for Eclipse. Alternatively, you can definitely go to Theater after UTM; just remember not to go to Wonkavator before Eclipse EP as it resets the glitch.
One optimization you can do to benefit the run is by sniping the Desert-Tunnel Shortcut panel. You will need to set your graphics to Low (this option comes up when booting up the game) and snipe the door panel from Keep Laser Tower. Doing this will change the route where you would do Desert after Quarry Laser instead of Symmetry.
10. Cycle Distortions/Improvisation. In 99.8%, you would normally get a consistent cycle for Windmill EPs once you enter town and able to refer to your splits for Cloud Cycle EP. However, because of this glitch, you will need to keep a keen eye for both of these cycles. 

    - Cloud Cycle: Due to save-loading abuse used for Eclipse Skip; you can no longer gain an accurate time of Cloud Cycle. You could technically subtract the time it takes to set-up the glitch, but keep in mind that it's an estimation since Cloud Cycle will resume when you open the save. So, to keep an accurate representation of Cloud Cycle, keep an eye on the crescent-shaped cloud that's normally located mountainside. If it starts to move right, that means that the cycle is coming up.
    - Windmill Cycle: If you activate the Windmill in order to gain 1 point for the 60-Point Autosave exploit, you can no longer use Darkid's Windmill-Town Strat on getting the Windmill EPs while solving puzzles in Town. Keep this in mind once you enter Town and try to keep a good eye on where the starting blade is on Windmill and try to improvise the route accordingly.

That’s everything about this glitch. There may be some confusing bits so let me know if I should clarify something about this glitch.

Invisible Boat Snipe (Low% Categories)

In every New Game, there will always be a boat located in Swamp near but not at the dock. That may seem quite strange since there appears to be no boat until you activate any of the Boat Summon panels around the island. That's because that the boat is invisible, which is intended. 

For any Low% categories, if used, we can use this exploit to save 2 panels, which are:
     - Boat Summon Panel
     - Boat Map

Below is a video for a visual tutorial, but I will put a written explanation here below the video as well. For practice, I would definitely recommend using darkid's Trainer Mod (https://github.com/jbzdarkid/witness-trainer) to consistently snipe this panel:

To snipe this panel consistently, you first need to walk to the corner of the rocks of Cove EP. The specific coordinates are X: 206.020 and Z: 1.655 but you will always make it to this position as you will be locked in a corner. 

Next, if you haven't already, go to your settings and set your FOV to the lowest setting (which is 80) and enable Reticle.

Position the bottom right corner of the Reticle onto the intersection where the light, semi-light, and dark surfaces of the rock meet while keeping the boat shed in sight. Specifically, your angle should be close to θ: 1.21313596 and Φ: -0.18212456

Finally, it's time to solve the panel. Since the boat in invisible as so is the panel, you want to use the scenery and the design of your cursor to your advantage. 
Align your cursor so that the black outline is between the clouds and the rocks with a tiny gap in between. At the same time, align your cursor such that the white circle of your cursor is tangent to the vertical beams of the boat shed. You should now try to solve the Boat Map and it may take some readjustments. Once you are able to lock onto the panel, send it to Jungle/Bunker.

Ideally, you want to do this after Swamp Laser for Low%, since there's a wait period for the Swamp to activate. As for other Low% categories, you can still perform this method for a consistency. Other methods of Invisible Snipe can work, but this is by far the most consistent for anyone to perform.

Walk up to the right-hand side of the River panel.
Change to 80 FOV.
Line up as in the picture:
- The bottom-right corner of your crosshair covers the rock which peeks out from the 25 dots building (red)
- The distance from the top of the bush to the point of the crosshair should be the same as
  the distance from the bottom of the black wall to the other point of the crosshair (blue)
- The lower right-hand point of the crosshair (lower two blue lines) should be horizontally centered in the curve of the bush.
Next, hold left (and sprint, it's a speedrun) until you are pushed against the left-hand side of the mountaintop.
Now, you should double left-click to start the redirect panel.
If you don't start the redirect, you can attempt to search around with your cursor, but I prefer to attempt the lineup again.
To solve the redirect panel for mountaintop, push up/left, then bottom/right and try to get the right angle.
If you fail, right click and quickly double-click again (to avoid messing up your angle).

Quarry Low% Route

You can finish Quarry in 32 panels (34 including boat):
- First, snipe the stairs shortcut from Shadows
- Next, solve Mill normally (rows 1, 2, control panel). Don't take the stairs to leave, just raise the ramp in the control room.
- Solve Boathouse 1-5 from the dock
- Solve Boathouse 6/7 from the boat, should be just beyond the dock
- Solve Boathouse 8 with a moving boat on slowest speed (this is really hard, expect to fail it)
- Solve Boathouse 9 from the log pile
- Solve Boathouse 10, 11 from Shadows
- Solve Boathouse 12 from Boathouse again

Just wanted to dump my brain a bit about how this practice setting works.
There's three injection points:

1. Most obviously, I have to disable opening the doors. Both random panels are wired up to 0x00017C68, which is the ID of the double doors, so I swap that with 0x00000000 (nothing)

2. Modding Entity_Door::close
Here's the original code:

The important part here is on 140092CE7-140092CEE: "If the panel is solved, jump to the next panel". More importantly, the converse is "If the panel isn't solved, power it off".
Once a random panel is powered off, it will be randomized when it is powered on. Thus, I want the exact opposite: The panel should remain on if it's unsolved, and power off if it's solved. The fix is easy, just change 'jbe' to 'jna' (jump if not above).

3. Modding Entity_Door::open
This one's a bit more complicated. But again, here's the original code:

Again, the important part is 140093E17-140093E1E, and it works the same as above: "If the panel is solved, don't clear its lines or power it on (as it's already on)", and the important converse, "If the panel is not solved, clear its lines and power it on (re-randomize it)".
To inject my changes, I now make a slightly different swap: 'jbe ..E30' becomes 'jmp ..E28'. 'jmp' is an uncoditional jump, so this now reads "Always turn a panel on, and never clear its lines". This is a safety in case a panel is off when the cheat is activated.
When the changes are turned off, I change it back to 'jbe ..E28', again preserving the "always turn a panel on" logic, since I'm not certain what state the cheat is de-activated in.

Safety Strats

If you are a beginner and/or doing a marathon run, you can opt for safety strategies. Here are some of the safety strategies you can do in case something goes wrong:

**Town Snipes** - Solve the Blue Set in Town normally by solving Town Maze then extend the bridge (similar safety strat for *All Lasers*).

**Pop-Up Skip** - Go around Monastery. If you are too uncomfortable to perform this strat, you can route in Monastery before Jungle to access the courtyard shortcut.

**Town Snipes** - Solve the Blue Set in Town normally by solving Town Maze then extend the bridge (similar safety strat for *Any%*).

**Desert Latch Skip** - While solving the Laser Panel, change your FOV from 80 => 120 => 80. Make sure that the panel is near the bottom of the screen.

**Boathouse Snipe** - Snipe the panel from the Boathouse by standing on the logs or on the rails. You can also do Boathouse as the game intended.

**Stairs Snipe** - Perform the route as the game intended. Solve Negate Dots 1-6, raise the Lift, then lower the stairs.

**Treehouse Bridge Failure** - This happens when you solve a bridge panel faster than the bridge animation, causing it to open the next puzzle but the bridge is not extended. This often happens with simple panel solutions, especially ones that involve a straight line. To correct this, stand back and make sure that you are not looking straight at the bridge panels (to avoid locking into the panels), then snipe the panel.

**Pop-Up Skip** - Enter the courtyard shortcut to quickly go to the pop-up wall.

**Challenge Pillars / Challenge Pause Glitch** - If you feel that you could not solve the pillars fast enough, I recommend utilizing the Challenge Pause Glitch. You perform this glitch, you must solve the 2nd Triangles Panel, then immediately hit ESC (the menu button). Hitting the ESC button causes all panels to shut down and the music to stop; however, the pillars are still in the process of turning on. Therefore, you have INFINITE time on pillars! Sweer (but this means that you should really practice pillars).


**99.8% / 100%** (Work in Progress)
*Please note that for a marathon setting, I do not recommend running the 100% category. Even with the Eclipse Skip, the glitch is highly inconsistent because at worst, doing Eclipse Skip can total up to 1 hour and 55 minutes after loading up the save (or the setup of the glitch), longer than the intended way to get Eclipse EP*

**Shipwreck Discard Snipe** - Let's be real, this snipe is just for show. Even if you solve this at the intended location, you can still reach Couch EP.

**Windmill EPs** - Make sure that you are not moving your cursor if you are doing the Second or Third blades. If you messed up during your solves or missed the cycle, you can still solve the Windmill EPs in the following locations: Right Courtyard EP, Cloud Cycle EP, and Mountaintop). If the cycle is bad, then just do it at Mountaintop

**Swamp Snipe** - Attempt Laser Shortcut 1 once. If you did not solve it, that's okay. Turn around and solve Right Sliding Bridge EP.

**Redirect Snipe** - Very risky strat for marathons. If you won't want to perform this snipe, then you must readjust your route accordingly:
	- Snipe the Redirect Panel from the laser tower so that the laser hits the mountain
	- Redirect the laser to the thundercloud after solving Town Shortcut
	- Solve Thundercloud EP when you exit the River Shortcut.

**Eclipse Skip** - If you want to do this normally, you must setup the video so that it is before the underlined text, "but like so many New England cities, the advent of shopping malls had, by the early 70s, turned it into a __ghost__ town. However, I do not recommend this safety strat if you plan to get PBs in 100%.

Setting up the autosplitter

1. Download **[LiveSplit](https://github.com/LiveSplit/LiveSplit/releases/latest)**
   * Run LiveSplit as Administrator
   * Warning: You cannot run this if LiveSplit is being opened out of a zip file. Extract LiveSplit to a folder before running it!
2. Edit Splits, set your game to 'The Witness'.
3. Click 'Activate'
4. Click 'Settings'
5. If you want to split on every panel, enable the 'Split on all panels (solving and non-solving)' setting
   * Download the splits file from the **[appropriate splits for your category](https://github.com/jbzdarkid/WitnessGuide#speedrunning-route-splits-and-pictures-for-the-witness)**
   * Note that there are also picture guides which accompany these splits as well.
6. If you want to split only on specific puzzles, you need to create a config file
   * Download the **[sample configuration file](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/jbzdarkid/Autosplitters/master/sample.witness_config)**
   * Save the configuration file to the same folder as LiveSplit.exe
   * Add or remove panels (**[List of Panel, Door, and EP IDs](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13Qohr67j9bgDdazimJOCkpmq7avVDjrPwmbyGGfCdsI/edit#gid=2121658720)**)
7. Restart LiveSplit.
8. Select your configuration file in the settings pane of the autosplitter.
