With a few people having completed runs of All Winnable Jamboree TV minigames, a new subcategory has been added for it here. The category has the same Any Difficulty/Master Difficulty split as other minigame categories. Note that the new mouse minigames have to be played in 2v2 Battle mode for this speedrun, as Co-op mode does not give a star stamp upon completing the minigame.
Due to the available minigames being different in Jamboree TV, the original two All Winnable Minigames subcategories aren't possible to complete in that version, so ensure you're playing the correct game version for the speedrun you're doing.

By semi-popular request, Bowser Kaboom Squad is now available as a miscellaneous category. Anyone who has previously completed runs of the category can now submit them here.
Currently, Solo and Multiplayer runs are combined on the same leaderboard, as there is no completed multiplayer runs. These may be split into two separate subcategories in the future based on the opinions of runners after some multiplayer runs have been completed.

The voting for the leaderboard split is now closed. Thank you to everyone who voted, we received a total of 41 valid votes (and a few invalid ones...). The final result is that all three games will have their leaderboards combined for runs on both consoles.

Super was overwhelmingly in favour of combining, and Superstars had a reasonable majority. Jamboree was a lot closer, with the result flopping back and forth over the voting period, and combine only winning by a single vote in the end.

While not relevant since the leaderboards won't be split, a majority were in favour of Switch 1 as the default leaderboard. The votes were a fairly consistent 60%/40% in favour of Switch 1 across all games over the voting period. Some insights into the voting patterns:
-
People who have runs in multiple Switch games mostly voted for combining.,
-
People who have runs in only one of the games mostly voted for splitting.,
-
Splitters were heavily in favour of Switch 1 as the default leaderboard.,
-
Combiners were divided about which should be the default leaderboard.,
Leaderboard changes have already been applied. All Boards (Frenzy) has been added as well, for those wanting to submit their runs of the category.
With no consensus found amongst the community through discussion, we will be running a formal vote to determine how to handle Switch 2 runs on the leaderboards. The vote is only open to people who have submitted a run to any of the speedrun.com leaderboards for Super Mario Party, Mario Party Superstars, or Super Mario Party Jamboree. The vote will remain open until Friday, 29th August 2025, at 23:59 UTC. The voting form can be accessed here:
We're now needing to make a final decision on how to handle Switch 1 and Switch 2 runs on the leaderboards. The realistic options are either A) have both S1 and S2 runs combined on a single leaderboard, or B) to split the leaderboard into separate subcategories for each console.
A combined leaderboard makes runs more visible, and make the leaderboards easier to manage, but it gives a time advantage to anyone who has a Switch 2. A split leaderboard is more fair, but will result in runs on the secondary console's leaderboard receiving much less attention. If we split the leaderboard, we will also need to decide whether S1 or S2 is the main leaderboard.
With more S2 runs having been completed since a month ago, there are more accurate measurements of the loading differences between consoles. Some categories still have limited or no data due to lack of runs, but there should be enough to make an informed decision. There is no loading difference between the S1 and S2 versions of Jamboree when running on a Switch 2.
Certain:
- Jamboree Party-Planner Trek: 1:00 difference (S1: 3:00, S2: 2:00)
- Super Challenge Road: 2:00 difference (S1: 5:30, S2: 3:30)
Limited Data:
- Jamboree All Boards: 4:00-5:00 difference (S1: 9:00-13:00, S2: 5:00-8:00)
- Superstars All Boards: 0:10-0:30 difference (S1: 1:55-2:15, S2: ~1:45)
- Superstars All Minigames: 1:00 difference (S1: 3:45, S2: 2:45)
No Runs:
- Jamboree All Winnable Minigames
- Super All Boards
It would be best to have the same decision across all the Switch MP games, but if one game's community feels differently to the others, we can handle them differently.
For now, this is a discussion, not a vote. Input is welcomed from anyone, however the opinions of Switch game runners will be considered more strongly. If we can achieve a consensus through discussion, then we can implement whatever is chosen, and if the community is split, we can take it to a formal vote.
Discussion will be primarily happening in the Mario Party Speedrunning discord server, accessible here: https://discord.gg/XR8MFGZ. If you wish to participate more extensively, it is recommended to join that server. However, joining is not required, and comments on this newspost or in the SRC forums will still be taken into account in any decisions.
After the recent release of the Switch 2, some of the moderators and runners of the Switch MP games have been investigating the time differences between runs on the Switch 1 and the Switch 2. Work is still ongoing, but estimates are that Switch 2 load times are around 33% shorter. As a few examples, this is 1.5 minutes less loading for Challenge Road, 1 minute for both main Superstars categories, 1 minute for Party-Planner Trek, and up to 4 or 5 minutes for Jamboree All Boards.
The loading difference is significant but smaller than existing differences betweens physical and digital runs, so there is no clear answer about whether Switch 2 runs should be split onto a separate leaderboard or kept combined with the Switch 1 runs. As an interim measure, Switch 2 runs are currently being accepted on the existing leaderboards, however they may end up moving in future depending on the final decision.
We still need more data to fully understand the differences so the community can make an informed decision. Anyone who has completed runs on a Switch 2 is highly encouraged to submit them, as we can use those runs to more accurately determine the time difference.
There will also be other leaderboard changes required for the Jamboree TV expansion releasing on 24th July. As such, the current plan is to to hold a larger discussion with the community, and if necessary a vote, in late July. However, any opinions and discussions are welcomed now, either in the comments below or in the Mario Party Speedrunning discord server.
If you have any further questions, please do not hestitate to ask.
