Our leaderboards will launch with All-Cups and Time Trials (sonic speed & super sonic speed)

All-Cups looks like it will be timed in real-time, meaning loads will count. The game does not provide exact times for each race. Although an auto-splitter has already been made, it would only work for PC players. This means we likely need to use real-time instead of in-game time.

Something to discuss is Grand Prix DLC. Eventually, enough maps will be released to fill up new cups. Do we keep All-Cups as a separate category from All-Cups + DLC Cups? Do we obsolete old All-Cups speedruns when new cups release?

I say All-Cups + DLC Cups would be the best way to go when they all drop. That way, the base game runs are still accessible to new players, as well as to people who don't have the season pass.

In terms of other categories, I assume ones like All Rivals and Individual Rivals have been discussed?

If so, is there going to be a specific difficulty requirement? Or each difficulty is its own section of the Rivals category?

I also assume when the boards go live, we'll have individual sections for each Grand Prix instead of exclusively All-Cups?

I still think having some smaller categories would be good and attract a lot of people into the scene aswell like each individual grand-prix. Not everyone wants to commit to the All-Cups.

Yes, individual grand prix cups will be available. DLC cups will be added whenever they release.

Race Park MAY be able to add some variety. Can do All Rivals or 'Single Rival' for shorter 3 race runs. I think some runners may like doing Race Park as picking your fav (or shortest) track could bring some consistency to runs and lessen the skill ceiling to enter?

With all rivals, would it be just race all 23 rivals on the same stage, or more of a "medley" with you having to run a different GP and speed for each rival? Would both be a good option (aka you have "all rival victories" and "rival GP medley")

I feel like if all rivals became an option, I can see it being on their respective cups (i.e Team Rose on Wisp Grand Prix or Team Dark on Chao Grand Prix) and then deciding on either which match type you believe would be the fastest or the race park they would have the advantage at

So theoretically we could see:

• All Cups

• All Cups + DLC

• All Cups - Super Sonic (this was discussed in my previous thread)

• All Rivals

• Individual Rivals

• Individual Tracks

Then for misc categories we could something like, No Items, Heavy Items Only, etc.

I also see if this game gets updates for Race Park that maybe 24 tracks or Extreme Match could be another category

Agreed. But then that garners the question, should each Speed be its own category, including Mirror?

I think below sonic speed would not make personally. ive always seen Sonic speed as the default and Super Sonic as the extreme one. Mirror is just Sonic Speed but mirrored. i would think that doesnt need its own category but thats just how i look at it.

Right, but that's your personal bias. I was speaking in terms of accessibility. People who struggle with Sonic speed and just feel comfortable on the slower speeds, wanting to take up speedrunning. I'm of the camp of making sure boards accommodate for the crowd of people who aren't up to are levels.

For sure it is personal opinion. Same as i would myself not do the lowest 2 speeds having categories. Based on time trail only uses sonic and super sonic and looking at other games often only use highest 2 speeds or the so called 150&200 speeds. Then again im happy with whatever decision is finally made.

All speed classes (including mirror) will be merged into one, with Super Sonic speed being separate. If you’re only comfortable with playing on the lower speeds you can still participate, but you’ll be at a disadvantage.

There aren’t any meaningful differences that warrant them all being separate categories, so we are drawing the line at that, at least at this time. This is how most racing game communities do things from my experience.

I understand this is how most racing communities do it, but we're allowed to branch out. Again, I'm thinking in terms of accessibility. If someone can't physically handle the faster speeds for example, then why would we punish them by automatically making them lower on the board just because they're being compared against runs that are using a faster speed?

would there be a category for getting the crossworlds title (completing all the challenges except for the special ones)

I imagine that would be 40+ hours long and mostly consist of grinding race park for tickets.
