Hello! I'd just like clarification of the below rule. (It may seem a silly enquiry but I'd rather be safe than sorry!)
Game audio must be audible (runs with very low, distorted or delayed audio may be subject to rejection).
So my question is:
Does this apply to ALL in-game sound, i.e. Music, SFX and Voice?
OR is it only SFX that's necessary to verify a run - meaning I could lower/mute the Music and/or Voice levels?
I don't mind having to run with in-game music - might get a bit annoying if I'm doing one track over and over, but I can survive xD - but the "Voice" sounds for the character I want to use (Whisper) are unfortunately very overstimulating for me so, frankly, I need to significantly lower (or mute) them to play comfortably. (It's either that or forfeit Whisper for a different character.)
Either way, I'm looking forward to joining the leaderboards soon! :D
Only SFX must be audible, you may mute the music and voices if that’s preferable. Apologies for the late response!
Welp, turns out that even though these sounds are used for Tangle & Whisper's "Voices" and (mostly) behave the same way as the voiced characters', the game does actually consider them as SFX thus cannot be muted, so that sucks :')
Guess I'll have to EQ my headphones to minimise the sound or something, or just get gud at not using Whisper XD
Thanks for the response anyway, it's still super helpful to know the exact nature of the rule!
Late to the game and it’s a little goofy but there’s an OBS setup to record game audio but play something else over it.
I like doing runs either listening to punk playlists or podcasts so in windows sound manager I put Crossworlds down to a 1 and then in OBS I put in “application audio capture” for crossworlds. Then I just crank the audio capture way up and put on something else to listen to.
Below I believe I’m listening to a podcast but from the recording perspective all it hears is the game. Might not be that useful and a little obvious but thought I’d put it out there. Even at low volume you can pretty much just hear some louder sfx like the item coming at you beeping which is helpful for Grand Prix
