Asteroid Coaster 6 Skip (OLD)

AC6 Skip

1. Go out the top of the water to refresh your air. If you mess up the breakout repeat this step or you won't have enough air.

2. Stomp down close towards the top pole, jump to cancel the jump before you hit it, align yourself with the left wall, let yourself drop slowly towards the pole, just before you hit it boost and stomp. Leave the control stick in neutral after aligning yourself.
(You can clip through from other positions and with just a boost, but being close to the left wall and stomping increases the frame window)

3. After you clip through the right wall tap b for another boost before your upwards momentum causes you to go back inbounds

4. At this point the camera will freak out, then go back to the proper 2D camera, freak out again, then get behind Sonic. Whenever it's in proper 2D hold right, when it's behind you hold forwards, when it's freaking out don't hold anything or you will lose speed.

5. When the rocks spawn in start pressing jump to go upwards while still holding forwards, the camera will change again when you get close to the dive section, you should be close to or touching the ceiling at this point and the drowning timer will have started ticking at this point (high 3 or 4 is good, low 3, 2 or high 1 is doable, any lower you're probably dead)

6. At the diving section there are 3 triggers, from top to bottom they are:
---- Water trigger
---- 3D trigger
---- Dive section trigger
You need to hit the 3D trigger without touching the water trigger or you'll lose your water physics. A good setup for this is to hit the ceiling before going over to the hole, doing 1 jump button tap into the hole, then stomping.

7. During the diving section grab the frenzy wisp, this can either be used for the final breakout or as a safety frenzy depending on how much air you have left. If you have good air you can go straight for the final breakout (frenzyless), if you just have doable air use the safety frenzy. Frenzyless is 10 seconds faster.

8. For frenzyless start jumping again as soon as you grab the frenzy wisp, falling all the way to the bottom is a waste of time. Move up to the platform and approach it from either the right or the left, the camera can freak out a lot here so the movement takes some getting used to. Once you're on the platform boost into the corner to the left of the spring, face right, activate frenzy, then jump as soon as you can. Do not touch the control stick while you're gaining height or the rubbing against the invisible walls will stop you for a fraction of a second and you won't get enough height to break out.

For the safety frenzy land on the ground slightly to the back of the middle of the bottom platform. It has a nice line on it that can be used as a visual cue. Make sure you're facing forward (you should be if you didn't move after landing) then use the frenzy and do not touch the control stick. You'll hit the edge of the platform, but still go over it and you'll hit a no-wisp zone that will cancel your frenzy, proceed down the platform to grab another frenzy wisp, then go back towards the spring, get in the corner and do the breakout as normal.

9. Once you get enough height you will break out and you can start controlling where you move again. Make sure you stay right of the 2D section, but far enough left that you can pass through the scenery and green goop without hitting a killplane. As soon as you see mostly space you can start falling right towards the goal ring area where you just have to make sure you stay out of bounds untill you get past all the hatches, then go back inbounds and stomp onto the goal ring. The room can only be entered from the side or from the bottom, the front and back have invisible walls.


How to save yourself when shit goes wrong:
- If you fail to clip out and get stuck in the wall just mash jump to get out of the wall again
- If you don't boost fast enough after clipping out and go back inbounds you'll still have water physics, so go into the water, then back out of the water to refresh your air, then try the clip again from the beginning
- If after clipping out you lose your speed by holding the control stick the wrong way at the wrong time start jumping to maintain your height untill scenery spawns in and you know where you are, there is a chance you can still make it in time for safety frenzy
- if you start jumping up too late while moving towards the diving section you can get stuck on invisible walls, in this case just jump backwards to break free then start going towards the diving section again when you have more height, you could still make the safety frenzy
- If you don't go into the hole far enough to trigger 3D and you dove all the way down anyway you can use the frenzy, move around with it a bit, then jump with it just before it runs out to get a bunch of height so you can make it back to the hole and try again. It's impossible to make it back up and then down again in time without the extra height from frenzy
- If you go too far into the hole and accidentaly cancel your water physics just do the rest of the stage as normal (learn the quick kill for the mini boss especially, it's in All Chaos Emeralds runs)
- If you went for frenzyless and think you're not gonna make it before setting up for the breakout you can use the frenzy to reset the drowning countdown, then try to hit the no-wisp zone for a fast cancel and backtrack on the upper platform to grab the other frenzy wisp
- If you used the safety frenzy, but weren't far enough to the back you can hit the edge of the platform too far down and get redirected upwards. - If you don't get enough height for the final breakout just stomp or fall back down, backtrack down the upper platform the get the other frenzy and try again. This frenzy wisp respawns infinitely so you can retry as much as you need

Things you can never save:
- Hitting the spring
- Going back in bounds too early and getting stuck between the hatches

Livesplit + Autosplitter-Setup

## **The use of Livesplit is usually never required for speedruns, however they prove to give you lots of information before, during and after a run. You can see where to improve on, handy documention and other benefits like the Autosplitter.**

## **This guide is to help new runners set up their Livesplit.**

- Right click on Livesplit and click **"Edit Layout"**.

- Click on the **"+"** and hover over Timer and select one of the two options.

- Select **"Layout Settings"**.

- Click on the option just selected at the top of the window under the Layout Settings title.

- You should see Timing Method, as default, it should be set to **"Current Timing Method"**.

- Select **"Game Time"** and click **"OK"**.

- Head over to this **[link](https://www.speedrun.com/sonic_colors_ultimate/resources/qdfr2)** and download the splitfile.

- Right click on Livesplit and click **"Open Splits"** and select the downloaded splitfile.

- Right click again on Livesplit and go to **"Edit Splits"**.

- Click the **"Activate"**-Button at the top.

- Press **"OK"** Twice.

- Right click on Livesplit again and select **"Save Splits"**. If you didn't download splits/made splits before, Select **"Save Splits as..."** and select a directory.

And with that you should be all set to get up and running Sonic Colours!

Note that the Autosplitter only works on PC via Emulator.

Starlight Carnival 1 Skip

SC1 skip consists of 2 parts, to get the skip you need to nail both of them, there's no way to recover if you mess up. Depending on where you mess up you'll have to either take a death and try again which costs 30+ seconds or do the 2D section which loses you about 20-25 seconds

Part 1
There's 2 triggers above eachother on the first path, the top one spawns the path graphics, the bottom one activates autorun and locks your jump ability. You want to hit the top trigger while avoiding the bottom one and then land on the path. The orange rings send you directly into both of the triggers so you want to aim below those. Once you hit the top trigger you can quite easily avoid the bottom one by holding right, the game will drag you towards the path.
 
Part 2
Once you're on the path you want to make your way to the end of it, as long as you're boosting the game will not throw you off during the loops (don't even bother holding the control stick). At the end of the path is a trigger that will send you into the ship, the idea is to get a good ramp jump while avoiding this trigger. Something that helps for me personally is holding back on the control stick as I do the ramp jump. You also don't need full boost speed for it, so you can stop boosting like half a second before the ramp jump to make the timing easier. Once you're in the air wait untill you have all the height you can possibly get and then boost towards still unspawned path you want to land on. The visual cue for this is a vertical line of rings (the ones in the dive section at the end of the ship). This path once again has a graphics trigger and an autorun trigger, in this case you want to hit both. If you miss the autorun trigger just backtrack a bit untill you hit it, it's way faster.
 
Sidenote: You can land on the paths even if you don't hit the graphics trigger, for the first path you never want this as the game will throw you off at the loops when the path is in this state. With the 2nd path it's fine if you don't hit the trigger, doesn't lose any time and makes you look like space jesus.
