We recently discovered that Mario Bros. for All-Stars (NES) is in fact not the arcade version like we had thought, but rather the NES PAL version (not the NES NTSC version, which is slightly different). Because of this, we will be changing some Mario Bros. categories, which will subsequently affect the All Five Games leaderboards as well.

Instead of having "phase 10" and "phase 15" categories (which are normal levels with enemies), we will be replacing those with three new categories: "phase 4", "phase 9" and "phase 16". All three new categories end in a "coin collecting" stage, which is the standard for when a run ends on both the NES and Arcade Mario Bros. boards. We've decided to join those leaderboards in having our runs end in the coin stages, rather than normal enemy levels like phases 10 and 15.

As far as All Five goes, Any% will go to phase 4, Warpless will go to phase 9, and 100% will go to phase 16. This means the current All Five Any% world record will see a significant time cut, as it initially played up to phase 10 but now only needs to beat phase 4.

Hey everyone! We have agreed to allow all SMB2J speedruns to be done on used save files, rather than exclusively categories involving the letter worlds.

We feel that players shouldn't have their 8-4 runs be penalized if they are done under a D-4 attempt that abides by the D-4 rules. Rather than a lose-win situation, we want to encourage a win-win situation!

While runs that plan to only beat 8-4 are allowed on a used save file, we strongly prefer you run those categories on NEW save files.

Hello everyone. We're working on an overhaul for the SMAS (NES) leaderboard. Here are some of the things we have added/changed:

• Setting milliseconds to reflect the original leaderboards thresholds.

• The addition of Luigi categories for Lost Levels.

• The addition of Both Endings/All Stages/A-D categories for Lost Levels.

• The addition of 50K and 100K categories for Mario Bros., to be in accordance with the original leaderboard.

• Minor renaming of certain categories.

With the new feature of controlling comments for the leaderboard, I have disabled comments on runs. No one really liked the new addition and (despite this leaderboard not being too popular) we all would like avoiding those nasty hate comments that have surfaced for people in the past. So comments are now disabled in its entirety for SMAS NES.
