I have recently been trying to get back into running re2 but I keep having a crash within a couple seconds of the gas station or as soon as i reach the city. Its really frustrating and nothing I have tried has fixed the issue. That is besides down-patching the game to a version before ray tracing. Is this version allowed?
It is allowed and recommended to downpatch the game. The RTX patch changed some AI behavior if I remember correctly, that's why you should downpatch your game !
