Common Abbreviations and Language

# Why?

For over a decade at this point World 2 Runners abbreviated all the level names as some of them are quite long and it never made sense to say "Volcanic Panic" every single time you needed to explain Volcanic Panic Skip to someone. So it's just VP Skip.

Thankfully like the original, the old levels have kept their names, and the new levels all have names that can be abbreviated with no conflict.

This guide is to help people who are newer to the game have just a handy translation for when runners are saying what sounds like nonsense.

# Why not use X-Y like the game does?

We just don't. The community is still primarily comprised of old runners so old habits remain, and generally it's more convenient to say/type/read NC for Night Crawling than it is 6-2.

# Levels

**PV** - Pac-Village

**BB** - The Bear Basics (1-1)

**CC** - Canyon Chaos (1-2)

**PDP** - Pac-Dot Pond (1-3)

**BDW** - B-Doing Woods (2-1)

**TWF** - Treewood Forest (2-2)

**BP** - Butane Pain (2-3)

**IRR** - Ice River Run (3-1)

**AA** - Avalanche Alley (3-2)

**BM** - Blade Mountain (3-3)

**ITV** - Into The Volcano! (4-1)

**VP** - Volcanic Panic (4-2)

**MO** - Magma Opus (4-3)

**SD** - Scuba Duba (5-1)

**SA** - Shark Attack (5-2)

**YPM** - Yellow Pac-Marine (5-3)

**HB** - Haunted Boardwalk (6-1)

**NC** - Night Crawling (6-2)

**GB** - Ghost Bayou (6-3)

# Sonic Stages

The Sonic stages are a bit long for abbreviations so they just have a different scheme altogether. These are the ones that have been thrown around a bit so far.

**Act 1** / **Green Hill 1** - Rolling Around On the Island

**Act 2** / **Green Hill 2** - Supersonic Tricky Railroad

# Shorthands

Much less common, but in normal conversation some shorthand is used instead of an abbreviation. They are usually easy to spot out, the most comon two being **Treewood** for TWF,  and **Pac-Marine** for YPM.

# Bosses

For bosses it's pretty simple, we just address the boss by it's name, and in some cases it's animal mech, while using a number to define which era it's in.

For example **Inky 2** or **Owl 2** is referring to the same boss which is the Inky refight in the Past Era.

**Clyde** or **Frog** - Clyde's Frog **(1)** / A Long Poisonous Tongue **(2)**

**Inky** or **Owl** - Inky's Whimsy **(1)** / Hunter of Darkness **(2)**

**Pinky** or **Bear** - Pinky's Revenge **(1)** / Boom! Boom! Clap! **(2)**

**Blinky** or **Spider** - Blinky in the Caldera **(1)** / Burning-Hot Beats **(2)**

**Megawhale** or **Whale** - Whale on a Sub **(1)** / Pac-Marine Battle! **(2)**

**Spooky** - Spooky **(1)** / Legendary Story **(2)**

**Toc-Man** or **Toc** - Flying Dark Shadow

**Eggman** - 300 IQ Evil Genius

# Other (Bosses)

Sometimes people will say different things for these bosses so of course watch out for them. Most notably seen some people call Whale 2 **Origin Whale**, stuff like that.

# Categories

Subject to change if more categories get added

**AGF** - All Golden Fruits

**FM** - Fairy Mode

Enabling FPS Counter *****REQUIRED FOR PC PLAYERS*****

As of 10/19/2025 an fps counter is now mandatory for verification of any PC speedruns of the game.

FPS Cap: 60

Be sure to enable Max FPS and disable Vsync (if your monitor is above 60hz)

If your PC is capable of hitting 60fps it will remain there with these settings.

For the sake of verification purposes, please enable steam's built in fps counter.

Default keybind for this is Shift+Tab with the game open.

Then click the Settings cogwheel at the bottom

Then go to "In Game" > "Overlay Performance Monitor" and set your preferences.

The settings aren't too important, as long as it's **readable at all times**.

Then for it to show up on OBS when you do game capture you need to enable "Capture third-party overlays"![](/static/blob/ynl9m0qn.png)
You should be good to go after that!
Make sure it's readable in your recording and nothing is covering the fps counter.

PC Load Remover & Autosplitter Setup

NOTE: If you manually added the Load Remover + Autosplitter to LiveSplit prior to the two being merged, you must first remove it before following the directions below.

To set up the Load Remover & Autosplitter for PC runs:

1. Open LiveSplit.
2. Right-Click and go to "Edit Splits".
3. Select "Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac" from the game dropdown menu.
4. An additional line should appear that reads "Load Remover and Autosplitter available (by SunglassesEmoji)"
5. Click "Activate". The load remover and autosplitter are now active.
6. To mess with the autosplitter, click "Settings". From here you can pick and choose when you want the autosplitter to split for you.
