Console Addition to the Leaderboards:
Today, the team is happy to announce Consoles can now officially participate on the Speedrun.com board. Additionally, the new increased speed of in-game crane has helped bridge the gap between PC and Console!
-
Console players can utilize the new Franchise Timer to time their runs, and submit them under "In-Game Time."
-
PC Players continue to use "Time" for LiveSplit, and optionally (and ideally) will also add Franchise Timer to their submissions via "In-Game Time."
Rule update:
There has been a small update to the rules, mostly some simplification and removal of no longer valid exploits.
A small change on PC Modded runs, in the event of Speedrun Mod Checker being broken by an update, you will be allowed to show mods via the in-game menu.
Chill and Heat Status:
Currently, Chill and Heat are NOT allowed in submissions. As the community plays Heat modes, we can discuss creating an additional category for Heat runs.
We hope everyone is enjoying the new patch, and look forward to console players joining our community!

P.S.
Sorry for the late post here, apparently there was an error when posting originally.
Hey speedrunners!
EDIT: It's working again, disregard this post! Leaving it up for transparency. :)
With the latest update, Speedrun Mod Checker is currently not working. Milo's assured us he'll fix this as soon as he's available (thanks, Milo!), but if you decide to speedrun and submit in the meantime, please show your mods before or after the run -- either is fine, so long as it's part of the submitted video.
Happy speeding!

As you all probably know, a new PlateUp patch has dropped and added a new recipe, along with several other features to the game. Since this is such a large update, there is a greater risk of bugs/glitches that may affect speedrunning. Due to this there will be a brief pause on verifications for submissions for the new patch, until the patch can be tested by the community. After the patch has been tested by the community, there are some exciting things coming to our little speedrun community:
Console addition, and of course the new recipe, Fajitas!
During this time, you can still record and/or submit runs, but as with previous patches, unforeseen glitches may cause run rejections.
We hope you all enjoy the new patch, and...
Happy Speedrunning!

Looking to turn the lights down a little bit? The following mods have been tested and approved for speedrunning:
Dark Snow: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3624190676
Replaces all snowy materials with darker versions.
Dark Mode: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3678971412
Automatically applies a dark wallpaper and flooring to both headquarters and restaurants.

💕 The Speedrun Team
Hey Speedrunners!
Recently there has been a bug discovered that makes it so all Cakes foods (Cookies, Sponge Cake, Cupcakes, Brownies, Doughnuts) only take 3 seconds to be eaten, instead of the normal 6 seconds (meaning they are consumed twice as fast). Since there is no official timeline of when this bug is supposed to be resolved, the verifier team sees it best fit to keep running cakes as you normally would. This meaning that any Cakes run you submit will be valid despite this bug (if it fits within the regular rules/guidelines), for the time being.
To add, there is another known bug where placing down items on an appliance will automatically interact the item with the appliance. Ex: Placing an empty pot on a sink will fill up the pot without the use of the interact button. While this bug affects gameplay, it will not affect the validity of your run. So feel free to keep running even if you encounter this bug.
As always, things are subject to change and we look forward to any feedback the community may have.
💕The Speedrun Team
Hey Speedrunners!
After years of successful collaboration, the PlateUp! team has decided to step back from their involvement in speedrun community management. If you haven't read their message, you can do so by clicking here. We felt it was best to address it, too. Over the past few years, the verification team has:
- Managed runs and disputes consistently and fairly
- Adapted to multiple game-changing patches with little to no warning or patch notes
- Worked to establish clearer rules and processes
- Supported both new and veteran speedrunners through an evolving game
The verifier team feels that declining numbers are natural in a game's life cycle, especially after extended periods of no updates. We want to be clear about this: We're not going anywhere, and we remain committed to supporting this community. We're setting up a new Discord space for the community where we can continue discussions, answer questions, and generally keep doing what we're doing. Click here for the link!
Moving forward, this transition gives us more flexibility to manage the community the way that works best for speedrunners. We'll continue to verify runs, update categories, and support both new and experienced runners, just like we always have.
We know change can be unsettling, but we're confident that this will be a positive step. Our community has always been driven by your passion and dedication, and we're here to support that.
If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to post in #speedrun-discussion in the main PlateUp! Discord (accessible until the 27th of March) or in the new Discord linked above, or you can reach out to any of us directly. Thanks for your patience, and for sticking with us!
💕The Speedrun Team
Hi there Speedrunners,
PlateUp! Speedrunning Community Update:
There’s currently a growing disconnect between the verifier team and the PlateUp! Team in regards to structure, consistency, and responses to community feedback. Our team believes the current system isn’t sustainable long-term and isn’t creating the positive change or growth that the speedrunning community is asking for. We’ve also seen that the inconsistent processes and lack of structure from that disconnect are causing stress for speedrun community members, verification volunteers, and PlateUp! Team members alike.
We believe this has caused a decline in active speedrunners (from approximately 80 to 40) and makes it difficult to attract new runners which help to grow the PlateUp! community overall. The PlateUp! Team and the verifier team have been struggling to work together to make changes around these concerns, due to a disparity in both teams' ideals on how to manage things.
The verifiers are equipped with in-depth knowledge of PlateUp! speedrunning, so we wanted to give them some independence by making changes to how we support this subcommunity. When speaking with Speedrun Leads about making these changes, we agreed together that due to a moderation rule added on Speedrun.com the best way forward is to have verifiers function completely independently.
Changes to PlateUp! Team Involvement:
In 2026, we’re adjusting how the PlateUp! Team supports Speedrunning.
Speedrunners can expect the following changes:
- The PlateUp! Discord Speedrunning category will be removed on March 27th.
- The PlateUp! Discord verifier chat will be removed on March 27th.
- Monthly Speedrun Challenges will no longer be created or verified by our team.
- The PlateUp! Team will no longer be involved in choosing new speedrun leadership.
- Speedrun leads will be given Super Moderator and the responsibilities that come with it.
- The PlateUp! Team will no longer moderate, manage, or intervene in any speedrunning disputes and will direct to Speedrun.com staff as the alternative.
- PlateUp! Team requests regarding speedrunning (patch note clarifications, bugs, etc.) will be handled only through Discord support and bug report tickets or support emails.
We appreciate the passion you all bring to PlateUp! speedrunning, and we hope these changes allow the community to move forward in a way that works best for everyone involved.
The PlateUp! Team
Speedrun Non-Top 3 Verification Changes
In an effort to improve turnaround time on speedrun submissions, the verifying team members have agreed to adopt a set of less strict guidelines for reviewing submissions that do not place in the top three positions on the leaderboard for their category.
To accomplish this new endeavor regarding non-top three submissions, we will be following a widely-used method in many other speedrunning communities in which verifiers do not review the entire video but rather key elements currently established in the official ruleset.
Verifiers will review:
-
submission form information matches submitted video
-
video begins in HQ and ends after completion of Day 15
-
only a singular speedrun is included in the video
-
Speedrun Mod Checker is valid (if using mods)
-
TFCC Only: all chosen cards were food cards
This new review process will NOT change how speedrunners play, record or submit speedruns.
In regards to Turbo Food Card Challenge submissions, the verifying team would like to humbly request that speedrunners show their cards at the end of a run, either through game settings or including the Franchise/Scrap for XP option screen which displays all cards chosen during the speedrun. This would only be a courtesy on the speedrunner's part and is not required. Doing so is another way to improve verification time for speedrun submissions that do not place in the top three positions on the leaderboard.
As a reminder, if there is ever a speedrun in which its verification status is in dispute, the official Dispute Form can be found at the following link: https://forms.gle/Db5gokcD1dwmjwJp6
Thank you!

One Week Submission Deadline Reminder for 1.2.0-1.3.x Runs
Hello Speedrunners, just sending out a reminder that you have until January 15th, 11:59PM (UTC−12:00) to submit any outstanding runs from patch 1.2.0 through patch 1.3.x.
The default value for board submission is currently set to the 1.2.0-1.3.x board, and will be changed on January 16th to default to the 1.4.0 - Current board.
And as always, your feedback and ideas are valued. There are a few topics currently being discussed in PlateUp! Official Discord Server, if anyone would like to share their opinions or ideas, it would be greatly appreciated!
Happy Speeding,
The Speedrun Moderator Team!
Hey Speedrunners!
About a week ago, we asked for your input on two decisions: whether or not to split the boards for this patch, and how to handle Day 0 variants of Spaghetti and Sundaes. Thanks to everyone who participated! We had 67 voters, and the results were pretty clear:
Board Split:
Are you in favor of or against a board split?
83.6% (56 of 67) in favor
16.4% (11 of 67) against
Day 0 Variants:
How should Day 0 variants of Spaghetti and Sundaes be handled?
83.6% (56 of 67) – Separate categories
16.4% (11 of 67) – Include in original recipe
For our visual people (like me), you can also find the results in the pie chart at the end of this post.
Based on this feedback, the speedrun team will be moving forward with splitting the boards for this patch and creating separate categories for the Day 0 variants of Spaghetti and Sundaes. We'll be working on implementing these changes and updating the boards accordingly.
The submission deadline for the previous patch (1.3) is January 15th, 2026. Any runs for patch 1.3 should be submitted by then.
As always, thank you for taking the time to vote and share your thoughts – community input like this really helps. We'll post another update once everything is finalized.
Happy speeding!
The Speedrun Mod Team

Patch 1.4 has brought new recipes, a variant of an old recipe, a new appliance, a change to serving, and we've just learned some changes to certain recipes eating times. We previously asked for the community's feedback on how you'd like these changes reflected on the Speedrun.com Leaderboard (and please keep giving us your feedback!) and we are now asking for your participation in a poll regarding whether there should be a board split and how you'd like to see the Day 0 variants handled.
There are two options for the board split:
- In favor (yes, split the board)
- Against (no, do not split the board)
There are two options for Day 0 variants:
- Separate categories for each recipe variant (“Sundaes I: Scoops” and “Sundaes II: Homemade” are separate boards, and “Spaghetti I: Traditional Recipe” and “Spaghetti II: Extra Starch” are separate boards)
- Do not add additional categories for Day 0 Variations, and include them in their original recipe
Link to the poll: https://forms.gle/VYUSEybW9Zyj5MXXA
This poll will end on December 29, 2025 at 1:00 AM Eastern time, with a reminder posted 48 hours before the poll ends. Also just a reminder that until decisions have been made, runs completed on patch 1.4 will not be approved, but can still be submitted.

Patch Changes
Patch 1.4 has brought new recipes, a variant of an old recipe, a new appliance, a change to serving, and we've just learned some changes to certain recipes eating times. As we explore the impact these changes have on speedrunning, we'd like to get the community's feedback on how you would like to see these changes reflected on Speedrun.com Leaderboard. Until decisions have been made, runs completed on patch 1.4 will not be approved, but can still be submitted.
Please remember to keep discussions civil and productive as we all try to determine the best steps moving forward while we implement the changes required by the new patch.
Speedrun Mods
With the Patch 1.4 update, it appears that approved speedrun mods are still working as intended. Mods in the Approved Mod List are currently being considered acceptable. If anyone discovers an issue with any of the approved mods, please reach out in the Discord speedrun-discussion channel, on SRC, or to a verifier directly.

Spectator NamePlate Bug and Speedrun Mod Approval
Hello Speedrunners
With the release of patch 1.3.0, a bug has been encountered with the new "Spectator Nameplate" feature. Occasionally, a spectator nameplate will incorrectly appear for a guest who is also an active player. With the way rules are currently written, this would disqualify many runs that would be otherwise be approved. As this is out of players control, we are adding an amendment in the glitch section to help alleviate this issue.
Spectator NamePlate Bug - Introduced in patch 1.3.0, Spectator Nameplates may appear for active players. If the nameplate appears before the run, restart your run to ease the verification process. If the spectator nameplates appears mid-run, verifiers will take extra care to ensure no additional players join throughout the run.
As the spectator nameplate seems to occur during connecting/re-connecting, this event occurring mid-run may be unavoidable but will cause additional verification by the team. As such, we ask that runners restart their game to fix this glitch, if the Spectator Nameplate appears before entering the restaurant.
Speedrun Mod Approval: Crane Visual Fix & Ready Check Names
The two following mods have been tested and approved by the team for use in speedrunning:
Crane Visual Fix: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3419999060 - This mod alters the crane model movement to more accurately reflect the actual position of cursor.
Ready Check Names: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2922176841 - Re-addition after 1.3.0 patch fix. This mod replaces the checkmarks in ready checks with the first 2 characters of the user's name.
There are still some mods that have not been updated/fixed for the 1.3.0 patch that used to be approved for speedrunning. The team will continue to watch for updates, and test if/when they are updated.
Thank you all,
Happy Running

Speedrun Mods Updated
Hello Speedrunners!
The Mod creators have been incredibly quick in updating and continually maintaining the mods that the community relies on. The verifiers have tested and confirmed that most of the mods that had previously been approved for speedrunning are working as intended.
The following Steam collection is currently up-to-date, and contains the only mods usable during speedruns: Speedrun.com Approved Mods
The mods listed below have been removed from the "Speedrun Approved Mod" collection, and will not be usable in valid speedrun attempts until updated and announced here:
Ready Check Names
Permanent Visit
While we thoroughly tested the mods, it is not possible to test every scenario possible, so it is very important that any unexpected behaviors or errors are reported to a member of the Speedrun Mod Team, mentioned in the Official PlateUp Discord, or reported on Speedrun.com PlateUp forums.
Thank you, and happy speeding!
The Speedrun Mod Team
Hey Speedrunners!
With the new update, mods are currently not working. If you attempt any speedruns during this time, please do not use any mods until the speedrun team can re-verify them for speedrun approval. The Approved Mod list has been temporarily disabled. As mods are fixed, the team will re-verify the mods, and re-add the to approved list.
Running without mods:
A quick reminder of the required actions to make a run valid without mods:
- Display Seed Settings before or after completed run.
- Host must be seen inputting seed, and must be included at the start of the video.
Glitches and Unexpected Behaviors:
With the new update, there are some already known issues, and likely unknown issues. Be aware that while playing, some of these issues may hinder runs, or even make them invalid.
Good luck,

New Verifiers Have Joined The Team
Hello Speedrunners!
We’re happy to announce the newest members of the Speedrun Verification Team! As you know, the queue is very backed up as of right now and to help get that under control and keep up with runs being submitted, several new people have joined the team!
Our new speedrun verifiers are:
- Champrul
- Dixieduo25
- Dokka94
- Galvia
- SheBanshee
- Sheona99
- Tosle
We are excited to see the amazing contributions from our expanded team!
Stutter Rule Update
There’s been concern about stutters and wondering how they are handled when it comes to verifying runs. As of right now, if a run has noticeable frame-rate issues, stutters, and/or skips, it is brought to the team to look for other verifiable elements to try and prove the video’s authenticity. We're happy to report that under this current system, we've seen less rejections due to video issues. We are continuing to try and refine and improve upon this rule and we thank you for all your patience.
Happy Plating, The Speedrun Mod Team

Cookie Glitch Rule Update
As previously announced, the results for the Cookie Glitch Rule Update showed overwhelming community support for the "Discard Glitched/Duplicated Item" option. The rules have been updated to reflect that, and are now as follows:
Cake Bowl Glitch is not allowed. If an item is duplicated, it must be discarded or remain unused. If the glitched/duplicated item is used, the day must be restarted or the run will be invalid. | 1.2.0, a glitch was discovered where combining cake batter mixed in a bowl with a tray/tin containing at least one remaining portion instantly creates an additional servable portion. |
Again, this means if an item is created by mistake, it must be unused or discarded. If the item is used by mistake, the day must be restarted or the run will be invalid.
Newly Approved Speedrun Mod:
Color Selector
While we are currently still testing multiple requested mods, the Color Selector mod has been fully tested for vulnerabilities and exploits, and has been approved for use during Speedruns. It has been added to the Speedrun.com Approved Mods Collection.
Happy Speeding!
The Speedrun Mod Team
The poll has concluded, and after tallying the votes, the very clear winner is "Discard Glitched Item." The Speedrun Moderators will work on updating the language of the rule and will have it instated soon. Thank you all for your feedback, and for taking the time to vote and further shape the rules for our community.
Detailed Final Results Summary: Full Results
Total Votes:
- Discard Glitched Item: 60 for Most Appealing, 27 for Neutral, 4 for Least Appealing
- No Change in Rule: 12 for Most Appealing, 50 for Neutral, 29 for Least Appealing
- Fully Allow Glitch: 19 for Most Appealing, 14 for Neutral, 59 for Least Appealing
The Instant Run-Off Voting Method produced the following results:
Number of "Most Appealing" votes per option:
- Discard Glitched Item: 60 votes (65.93%)
- Fully Allow Glitch: 19 votes (20.88%)
- No Change in Rule: 12 votes (13.19%)
Narrowing it down by removing the lowest voted option and reassigning those votes to their "neutral" choices, respectively...
Number of Most Appealing votes per option, after sorting:
- Discard Glitched Item: 71 votes (78.02%)
- Fully Allow Glitch: 20 votes (21.98%)
Thanks, everyone! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
The Speedrun Team
Cookie Duplication Glitch Vote:
The Cookie Duplication Glitch:
Holding a partially served cookie tray (1-3 cookies) and pressing Interact or Grab on a mixing bowl with batter will create a fully cooked cookie (and the bowl will not be deleted).
The same actions, but holding a mixing bowl full of batter while pressing Grab (the bowl will be deleted) or Interact (the bowl will not be deleted) will create a fully cooked cookie.
After community feedback, we have revised the poll to include more options, with greater details for each option given.
The three options are:
1. No change in rule. (Creating a glitched item will require a day reset, or the run will be invalid. This choice will cause very slight rewording of the current rules to adhere to other disallowed glitches.)
2. Glitched item should be discarded/not used. (If a glitched item is created, it can be discarded, portioned out and discarded, or unused, without restarting the day or invalidating the run.)
3. Fully Allow Glitch. (Allow use of the glitched item, without stipulation.)
LINK TO POLL https://forms.gle/y1DYtxVKpNrvuQF5A
This poll will be up until June 4th, 9:00A.M. UTC.
Happy Speeding,
The Speedrun Team
Hey everyone!
Just over a week ago, we asked for your input on the cake bowl glitch. The poll results were, as you can see above, a near-even split: 51.16% voted to allow, while 48.84% voted to disallow. Given how close it was, we're working on a follow-up vote, potentially with additional options. It's still a work in progress, but we didn’t want to leave you in the dark!
There’s already been some great discussion (thank you to those who’ve contributed in the PlateUp! Discord!), and we’d love to hear even more from the community as we figure out the best path forward.
On a separate note:
Console/in-game timer speedruns are definitely still on our radar. That conversation took a bit of a backseat while we focused on the Cake Bowl Glitch, but it hasn’t been forgotten.
And one last update:
Twitch’s 100-hour cap on video storage officially went into effect on May 19th, 2025. As of today, any uploads or highlights exceeding that limit are being removed by Twitch. All submitted link update forms have been processed, and any remaining "At Risk" runs have now been marked as "Abandoned". Don’t worry – your records are still safe!
As we mentioned previously, if anyone would like to update a video link but the original Twitch video is no longer available, the link will need to be changed and submitted by the user for re-verification.
Thanks for your continued input; we'll have more updates soon!
On May 5th, we asked for the speedrun community to vote on whether the ‘Cake Bowl Glitch’ should be allowed or not. And the results are in:
51.16% of people voted for Allow
48.84% of people voted for Disallow

As you can see this is a very close poll, nearly evenly split, so we’d like to hear from the speedrun community on why you think the Cake Bowl Glitch should be allowed or disallowed in the comments of this post before any changes are made as this vote has only the difference of one person voting swinging it in favor. We want to make sure that even with ‘Allow’ having one more vote, that we make the right decision and consider everything. Especially with people discovering that the Cake Bowl Glitch has two different ways that it works. Here is a video of the Cake Bowl Glitch where Kulu demonstrated both ways it can happen: https://www.twitch.tv/kulutues/clip/JazzySteamyFloofSwiftRage-MiTykGNjSX1vN1cy
Thank you for all your patience!
The Speedrun Team
As of right now in speedruns the ‘Cake Bowl Glitch' (in 1.2.0, a glitch was added where adding cake batter mixed in a bowl to a tray/pan with at least 1 serving would consume the bowl and batter, while creating a single additional item.) is not allowed.
This a vote to determine if it should be allowed in speedruns or not.
If allowed, the Mandarin Orange Prep Station Replenish Glitch (in 1.2.0, a glitch was added where dropping a Mandarin Orange with at least 1 portion missing would replenish the orange to its full portions.) would also be allowed.
These glitches were previously disallowed due to believing they would be fixed in a timely manner.
This poll will end on May 8th, 2025 at 1PM (EST) and then the results will be posted and announced.

Twitch has officially extended the Highlight and Upload Storage Deadline to May 19th. This will allow moderators to accept Speedrun Update Forms until May 18th.
After that date, as stated above, we will no longer be accepting link update sheets via the form. If a player wants to update a video link without the old Twitch video available, it will need to be updated by the user and resubmitted for verification. If the old Twitch video is still available, please do not update the link yourself, reach out to a Moderator to update it for you.
Until May 18th, you may submit your update sheets here: Speedrun Update Form
Happy Speeding!
The Speedrun Team
Hi PlateUp! Speedrunners,
We just want to remind you that Twitch will be deleting any Highlights and Uploads that exceed the new 100-Hour storage limit on April 19th.
After reading through posts by Speedrun.com staff about how to handle this change, we asked folks to upload the videos to YouTube and send in update link forms by April 5th so we had time to get them updated before the deadline, and we do have some spreadsheets submitted that we’re finishing up.
After April 18th we will no longer be accepting link update sheets via the form, and if someone wants to update a video link without the old Twitch video available, it will need to be updated by the user and resubmitted for verification. If the old Twitch video is still available, please do not update the link yourself – we ask that you reach out to a PlateUp! Speedrun Moderator to update it for you so they can automatically re-verify the submission.
Any runs without updated links will be marked as “Verified” but “Abandoned” on April 19th. This is a new status added by Speedrun.com staff which allows videos to remain on the board without video evidence if the video is deleted by Twitch, either now or in the future when you run out of space for the video in your Twitch Highlights.
The following users have runs which will be marked as “Verified” but “Abandoned” if you do not submit a Link Update Form before April 18th:

Turbo Food Card Challenge now live!
After some additional layout testing and rule clarification, the Turbo Food Card Challenge is officially live and runs are beginning to be verified! This Level Challenge is focused on taking all Food Cards in a turbo run; it can get pretty crowded in your restaurant, so prepare for a unique and interesting challenge!
The rules of the challenge are fairly simple, but add a distinctly different playstyle than a normal speedrun. In a Turbo run, select food cards if they are available. No Display Stands, Specials Menus, Specials Terminal, or Flower Pots. You can still use any type of Tables, and any Decoration Theme you want.
This community-created challenge has been enjoyed by a large portion of the community already with a few different iterations, so please familiarize yourselves with the official rules before running. If you have any questions along the way, please reach out to your friendly local verifier for clarification.
For the full rules, please see here at Speedrun.com
You can find the new challenge on the Levels tab at the top of the leaderboard, or through the drop-down located near the top of the leaderboard. We hope you all enjoy competing in this new style of run!
Additional Speedrun Team Leads added: HannerbalLecter & HowToCharlize
We're happy to announce today that we've gone over all the moderation applications and have selected both HannerbaLecter & HowToCharlize to join the Speedrun.com moderation team and take on the role of Speedrun Team Lead in the Discord. Hanner has been an active Speedrun.com verifier since Autumn, while HowToCharlize has been active since last January; both have been valuable members to the team, and brought a lot of great concepts to the table. We're glad to grow our leadership team to three members who will work together to keep things running smoothly. Next time you see them please give some extra thanks and congratulations for volunteering their time to further help the PlateUp! Speedrun community!
The PlateUp! Team will still be overseeing and advising Speedrun.com leadership when needed, however having three leads should help minimize our involvement which we know the community prefers. We're still here to help so please don't hesitate to reach out to me or Wraith if anyone has questions or concerns!
Twitch Highlight Deletion Reminder:
Twitch will be deleting any Highlights and Uploads that exceed the new 100-Hour storage limit on April 19th, please remember to submit your Highlight Update Sheet as soon as possible via our Google Form.
Happy Speeding,
The Speedrun Team
After seeing how large of an undertaking the change from Twitch Highlights to Youtube Videos is for the community, we would like to add some convenience options to the submission process.
First, users can now submit multiple update sheets via our Google Form
This should allow runners to make manageable lists for themselves, and organize differently, should they decide to. As always, please do not edit/change a sheet after submission unless you reach out to a Team Lead, as it may already be in the process of being updated.
Second, to clarify, the original video is not required but preferred. When updating a submission on SRC, we will make a notation denoting if both videos were present, or if the original was already deleted. We will work through the update process quickly to help alleviate storage issues, once we get your sheet via the Google Form.
Lastly, we'll be removing our form submission deadline. We still encourage users to get their forms in as quickly as convenient but video updates will be available past the original deadline. If you are over the Twitch Highlight Limit, remember your Highlights will be deleted on April 19, 2025. If possible, and if you are over the limit, try to get enough highlights submitted by Saturday, April 5 to avoid missing videos.
This has been a huge issue across not only the PlateUp speedrun community, but all speedrun communities. With everyone's help, and patience, we will continue working on this process and preserve our speedrun history.
Thank you,
The PlateUp Speedrun Team
December Speedrun Update: Witch Hut Setting, Solo North Pole, Video Stutter update.
Solo North Pole Now Allowed
Rules have been updated to allow solo submissions of Map Settings that do not include single table layouts, namely North Pole. The following stipulation has been added to the "Player Count" section of the rules.
Map settings (such as North Pole), that only have 2 or more starting tables may be used in solo submissions if excess tables are removed from the smallest possible layout.
Video Stutter guidelines have been updated
New verifier guidelines to provide more leniency on recording issues have been put in place under a trial basis to see if any verification issues arise. Runs that have visibility issues will go through a more rigorous verification process, using many elements of the recording to authenticate the run. We’re aiming to strike the right balance and will be keeping a close eye on the trial to see how it’s going. We’ll make adjustments as needed and share what we can about the process once things are settled, all while doing our best to maintain its integrity.
Witch Hut Update and it's place on SRC
Witch Hut was planned on being added tonight, with this announcement, however, we found out today there are some large changes being made to the setting in the patch tomorrow. The Tricks Cards have been removed from Witch Hut. We checked with the PlateUp! Team to make sure the change was intentional and they reported it was, and that they are planning on reviewing feedback throughout the Holidays Event to see how players feel about the removal to determine how they move forward with "seasonal" layout types.
During this time, Trick Cards are inactive, being replaced by regular Customer Cards. Since there is the potential that these cards could be added back in after a few months, future speedrun attempts might not be fair or balanced against these runs completed with the benefits of the trick cards removed. The PlateUp Team is actively collecting feedback on this change, so if you have any, please let them know on Discord, Reddit, Steam, or any other official PlateUp! forums.
Happy Speeding!

New Verifiers added to the Team
Hello Speedrunners, we’re happy to announce the newest members of the Speedrun Verification Team! As the community grows, so does the number of submissions. To keep up with the influx, we’re adding several new members! These new team members have been integral parts of the Speedrun community for a long time, and we think will make a great addition to the team! The first group of new team members are:
- Cags
- Fangz88
- Hannerbal
- Mizbizbby
- Quiguki
Excited to see the amazing contributions from our expanded team!
Halloween Update Reminder
Halloween and Witch Hut settings are both not available for speedrunning on Speedrun.com. Since these Map Settings are available for such a short period, they will not currently be added to the leaderboard. Edited: As stated in the rules, Trick or Treat visits are NOT allowed during a speedrun.
In-Game Timer Visibility Reminder
As mentioned previously, with the upcoming patch, In-Game Timer must now be visible in all runs submitted to Speedrun.com. The rules have already been updated to reflect this, and with the new patch, runs will be rejected without In-Game Timer on and visible. To turn on In-Game Timer, from the main menu, select Options > Game > Always Show Timer set to on.
Mod Approval: Modded Cosmetics Integration
We have recently tested and approved the mod:
"Modded Cosmetics Integration"
This mod fixes an issue preventing access to the modded cosmetics through the in-game menu in Headquarters present in version 1.2.0b (4C0C).
It has been added to the Approved Mod Collection, and is now allowed for use in Speedruns. For all currently approved mods, see the collection here.

The Speedrun Team
Hi there Speedrunners,
Thanks again to everyone on Discord who filled out the feedback form to impact the future of PlateUp! speedrunning. Our team has gone through all your responses from the feedback form and put together this Speedrun Community Feedback Summary document for everyone to see what kind of responses we received.
Based on the responses, our team will be overseeing the expansion of speedrun leadership. We're giving priority to current verifiers who are already volunteering their time, however anyone is welcome to apply and all applications will be reviewed by both our team and Kulutues, who will be keeping his position uncontested since he's doing an amazing job. We'll be adding new leadership in a couple weeks time.
If anyone is interested in volunteering their time but isn't sure a leadership position is the right fit, we're also taking this opportunity to open up verifier applications. As the speedrunning community grows, there's always a need for more verifiers, and we encourage anyone interested to apply so we have the applications on file for when they're needed.

Optional Leaderboard Annotation: "Mouse Use" Added
Hello Everyone!
Based on community feedback, we have added an optional annotation to submissions to denote the usage of mouse during Advanced Build Mode (Crane) in a run. Users of native Mouse input or of the mod "Controller Mouse Crane" should be listed as Mouse Users with this annotation. The annotation will be on the submission page and on the leaderboard, but will have no impact on leaderboard ranking. Screenshots are included below showing the location on the Leaderboard and the location on the submission page of the new annotation.

This may be a temporary measure as we await further information on the upcoming PlateUp update, and a future community vote to fully instate the annotation. Please let us know what you think of the optional annotation!
Happy Speeding!

1.2.0 Rule Updates, 1.2.0 Submissions Open, and Mod Approvals
Hello Speedrunners!
After much community feedback, we have been working hard, and finished tailoring all the rule changes and testing mods for re-addition to the Approved Mod List. The following rules (unless noted) will be going into effect immediately. **Starting now, patch 1.2.0 submissions will be accepted and verified. **
-
Crane Usage: Keyboard/Mouse players may use Keyboard and/or Mouse input as desired. Controller players may use controller input or the newly approved "Controller Mouse Crane" Steam Workshop Mod by IcedMilo to allow Mouse usage while using controller.
-
Seed Visibility: Submissions must include the host player inputting the seed, if using a manually input seed unless using Speedrun Mods Checker. Speedrun Mods Checker has been updated to display seed information inside the restaurant.
-
In Game Timer: In-Game Timer will soon be required to be enabled and visible throughout runs. This is to help verifiers prove runs validity, and provide groundwork for console integration to the leaderboard. This will go into effect on the next patch.
-
Glitch/Technique Section: A new section to the rules has been added to clarify some known/allowed glitches, and disallowed glitches that are to be fixed in upcoming patches.
-
Blueprint Duplication: If Blueprints are duplicated; Random Seed - The bottom/second blueprint and its rerolls must be ignored. **Set Seed **- May purchase one of the duplicated blueprints, may **not **reroll that day.
-
Cake Bowl and Mandarin Orange Glitches are disallowed currently because of likely fixes coming in future patches.
-
Day One Resets are no longer allowed. If a restaurant does not complete Day 1 for any reason, it may not be restarted and/or replayed. The restaurant must be abandoned and a new restaurant created.
-
Player Input Clarifications: Wording has been added to clarify that additional player characters may not be spawned in at any time, and that the number of unique players may not exceed the Submission Category (1 for Solo, 2 for Duo, 3 for Trio, 4 for Quad).

Advanced Build Mode/Crane Speedrun Community Votes:
After further discussions, 2 new options and clarifications on 1 of the previous options have been added. After a 72 hour voting period the polls will be closed and the rules will be instated.
- No Mouse Crane Usage/Enter and Exit crane mode if accidental movement.
Bridges the gap considerably, allows for mistakes to not completely invalidate run, would require detailed knowledge of rules which could be daunting for newcomers. Penalizes accidental mouse input. A mod will likely be made available to avoid accidental mouse movement.
- Add a variable to the leaderboard denoting mouse users and crane usage. Does not split the leaderboard, but just adds a variable visible from the main page.
(The Snowflower Protocol) - Does not impact game, denotes which control scheme is used. Easily understood.
- No change.
Mouse advantage stays, easily understood rule. More welcoming to new users.
- Mod allowing controller player to have crane mouse access (Details to come).
This would be the only mod providing a competitive advantage that would be considered for approval for use in Speedrunning. Mod would give controller users an advantage over Vanilla controller users. Allows Controller players to use Mouse to control crane, levels the playing field between Keyboard/Mouse players and Controller..
- Disallow Crane entirely.
*Disables a base feature of the game, which is not commonplace for Speedrun.com/Speedrunning. Difficult not using base feature for new runners. *

Official Vote on 1.2.0 Board Split
Hello, everyone! It is time for the official vote deciding if we should split leaderboard for the new patch. The poll will be up for 48 hours, and then the decision will be announced. After this, the Speedrun Team will prepare for new update submissions, and should have everything ready by around August 18, 2024.
https://strawpoll.com/kjn1D86NxyQ
There are many factors to consider while making this decision. If you have any questions, please ask them in speedrun-discussion in the Official PlateUp! Discord (https://discord.gg/plateup)
Thank you everyone!

Patch 1.2.0 Update, Possible Board Split, and State of Mods
With the release of the latest patch (1.2.0), many gameplay features have been added that have brought up discussion of the necessity of board split in the Official PlateUp! Discord (https://discord.gg/plateup). Please feel free to share your opinions and thoughts in the Speedrun-Discussion channel and help us continue to shape speed running the way you would like it to be!
Poll on a Possible Board Split
On Monday, August 12th (36 hours from this post), there will be a vote to determine whether or not to split the board, creating a new leaderboard for the current patch. The vote will be up for 48 hours, at which point the Speedrun Team will implement any changes needed.
State of Mods in Speedrunning
During this time, for your runs to be approved, your submission must show input of any seed (Due to the patch now not showing seed information in restaurant), your in-game settings denoting "Seed Affects Everything" or "Seed Affects Layout Only" (As usual, if running without mods), and adhere to all current rules listed.
Any mod usage during this time will continue to require use of Speedrun Mod Checker. The Speedrun Team will be re-evaluating and assessing all previously allowed mods, as the patch's code changes has required all mods to be updated. After thorough testing is complete for each mod, they will be added to the approved mod list. Until mods have been added to the approved mod list, they will not be allowed in speedruns. We understand that folks are anxious to use the mods that they have previously enjoyed and we are working to get through them as quickly as we can.
Mods will be available to use as soon as they are thoroughly tested and approved. We will make another announcement listing approved mods, after a large selection of mods have been tested and approved for submissions. Speedrun Mod Checker has already been approved, and includes a visual difference denoting it's updated status, all 1.2.0 submissions without the current version of Speedrun Mod Checker will not be accepted. Also, please understand that there is a possibility that previously approved mods may not be approved after testing and will not return to the approved mod checklist.
Rule Changes for May 1st
A few minor rule changes and clarifications from the previous rules, but important ones. And a newly approved mod, now available for speedrunning.
The rule changes will go into effect May 1st, and all runs submitted on or after that date will be verified accordingly.
First update: Mod Requirement
The most important change to those that run mods. Previously, use of Speedrun Mod Checker was suggested as it greatly helps verifiers and runners ensure only approved mods were used, it is now required to be used if any mods are installed.
If any mods are used, it is required that you include “Speedrun Mod Checker” for ease of verification, and to not be required to show settings before each run: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3007986429
Second update: Map Settings
Clarification added to unapproved Map Themes, and an image with examples of approved layouts has been included.
Settings are split into variables on the board. Currently acceptable Map Settings are: Normal (City, Country, Alpine), Autumn, Turbo, Lake, North Pole. All settings not listed are not valid for speedrunning.
Approved Mods (Steam Only)
New Mod: Permanent Visit
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3146132932
One of the most requested mods, Permanent Visit stores viewer visits when re-entering restaurants. This mod has been approved for use immediately, and has been added to the "Speedrun.com Approved Mod" collection.
Updated Mod: Starting Meal Selector
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2898176672
Starting Meal Selector's recent update has been tested and approved by the verifier team, and will remain on the Speedrun.com Approved Mod list.
Happy Plating everyone!

The speedrun rules have been updated to reflect new changes found regarding customer count and player disconnects/input changes. The rules can be found below:
Player count is defined as the number of inputs. Additional player characters spawned during the course of a run (Start of Day 1 to End of Day 15) are not allowed. Any change to player count (including any additional name plate appearance) during a day before all customers have been called/spawned will require the day to be restarted (returning to lobby, and re-entering the restaurant through the save table.) The Day Progress bar indicates if all customers have been spawned. Once the bar is full, all customers have been called in/spawned. When taking the card "Closing Time", any change to player count during a day will require the day to be restarted.
Thank you and happy speeding!
Jay
Players disconnecting and connecting during a day retroactively reduces or increases the number of customer groups that will arrive in that day. Our previous knowledge of only having to start the day with the correct number of players connected has been inaccurate since a change in patch 1.14. For this reason all runs with a player disconnecting during the day, where all groups have not yet been called, including closing time groups, must return to HQ and restart the day over. All runs where a player disconnects forcing the number of expected groups to decrease in the day will be rejected going forward. For reference, testing has shown that a player disconnecting in trios reduces the overall customer groups by approximately 17%.
The speedrun verifiers and moderators were unaware of this new game mechanic and thus any runs submitted where a player started the day but subsequently disconnected were still approved. We would like your overall opinion, should we go back and reject the runs with a disconnected player or do we keep these runs accepted on the board and only apply the rule going forward? Please follow this link to cast your vote https://strawpoll.com/eNg69Vj44nA
Voting closes Saturday 2nd December at 6pm UTC
Happy Speedrunning!

Set Layout Voting Results: Set Layouts now available in Random Seed Category
Hello Platers!
The poll results are in, Allowing Set Layouts in Random Seed Category is the winner by a large margin. Thank you all for letting us hear your opinions! I will update the rules accordingly, and I hope to see you all submitting more runs than ever!
(Winner) Allow Set Layouts for ALL Random Seed Submissions
58.87% (73 votes)
Do not allow Set Layouts for ANY Random Seed Submission
21.77% (27 votes)
Allow Set Layouts for Trios and Quads Random Seed Submissions only
19.35% (24 votes)
Total votes: 124
What this means:
Starting November 6th, Set Layouts (Seeds put into the flower pot) will be usable in all sizes (Solo, Duo, Trio, Quads), and Map Settings (Normal, Autumn, Turbo, Lake, North Pole), with the "Seed Affects Layout Only" option on.

Rule Change Vote: Allowing Set Layout in Random Seed.
Recently the community has been discussing a possible rule change to allow set layouts in Random Seed submissions for our Speedrun.com rules.
With the option "Seed Affects Layout Only", cards and blueprints will still be randomized, the issue at hand is allowing the seed option to generate a layout. We have found that the following 3 options are viable, and will change the rules according to the results of the poll linked below.
Allow Set Layouts for ALL Random Seed Submissions:
This option would allow the use of a Seed to determine the layout of a restaurant.
Allow Set Layouts for Trios and Quads Random Seed Submissions:
This option would allow the use of a Seed to determine the layout of a restaurant only for Trio and Quad runs. Solo and Duo submissions may NOT use a seed for layouts.
Do not allow Set Layouts for ANY Random Seed Submission:
This is the current rule, and disallows use of any seeds for layouts.
We ask that you please be informed before voting. Turn off mods such as Layout Generator, and Extra Options, then reroll layouts trying to find a viable speedrun layout for Duos/Trios/and Quads. As many of you have already know, there was a large discussion on this in the Discord Speedrun-Discussion channel, and verifiers have been hard at work testing various scenarios.

Rules Update, Verifier Guidelines, & Discord Expansion
Welcome everyone, we have updated the rules for Speedruns to clarify, allow expansion, include future categories, as well as to account for the upcoming console versions of PlateUp!
The rules are still very much the same, but would be wise to read over to see if you have any questions before starting your next Speedrun. The revised rules also indicate what verifiers look for in each video submission, located at the bottom of the rules on. These rules will be updated when required, and when they are, an announcement will be made here, and on the official PlateUp Discord (https://discord.gg/plateup).
Along with this, we have created forms to: Suggest New Categories, Suggest New Mods for the Accepted Mod list, and to Dispute Rejected Speedruns. All of these are located in the official Discord.
We also wanted to address some concerns brought up to us by the PlateUp! Speedrunning Community, so there are new verifier rules that all current verifiers have agreed to and all new verifiers must read and accept: http://bit.ly/speedrun-verifier-rules
As we are preparing for new categories, console release, and new players we are looking for more members of the PlateUp! community interested in becoming a verifier. If anyone is interested in applying, please use this form: https://forms.gle/5AFr7rdCBWVGXk5Z8
We're looking for dedicated, objective, and impartial verifiers to follow these new rules as we begin work for all the upcoming developments!
Happy Plating!
Today, the team is happy to announce Consoles can now officially participate on the Speedrun.com board. Additionally, the new increased speed of in-game crane has helped bridge the gap between PC and Console!
