The only other game I’ve speedrun is grace, which had a built in speedrun timer. How does you time runs traditionally? Along with this, does the timer pause during certain parts of the game like intermission and waiting for players or does it count continuously.

First of the mods will retime the run anyways so it’s not required for you to put the correct time but I’ve been banned before for not putting the correct time. Too many so I recommend using Livesplit to time the run just look at the rules for when it starts and ends

Retiming differs category to category, but mainly the Time starts on the first frame of UI changing when picking the first enemy in the run and ends whenever the last person alive in the level is either beaconed or died(if there is already someone in the beacon) on the specific level, for example if u run Level 12 the timer will stop as soon as the last person beacons or dies on Level 11 and so on for other Level categories. Pre-Celestial and Blossom categories have their timing rules specified in Category Rules. Timer doesn't pause at any point in the game, even in intermissions, we qualify it as the part of the game - being able to decide what to pick with fast pacing.
