There are simply no words. What's next? Allow saves? Rewind? This is such a disgrace, I can't imagine that the top runners voted for this, I dont can imagine that a moderator like hirexen is happy with this, I can't believe that the strongest in the history of the game, the current top 1, calmly approved this, this is simply a disgrace, if you have nothing better to do, the best you can do is do nothing than do something like this, it's simply a disgrace

I think turbo fire in contra nes is not good when you pick spread gun when you use turbo mode spread gun shows unregiular performance this is not good

Disgrace in what? That Contra COMMUNITY decide to make that category for fun and make people to interest in contra speedruns to make it popular or at least pay attention to their game for people? Its not even combined with main category,so what's the problem?

Like,people may not want to run the game,as it difficult to make sub 10 and based on psychology that may some of them are not wanna do the runs due to "oh no,i need a mash from 10-12 to at least kill some of the bosses in 1 cycle,i dont wanna be show here as a fool"(its just what i think). Or for old runners that already run the game,but they just tired,maybe this category make a little fun for them too,who knows

But this category allows players use a advantage and none of them will be banned and they will take fun of the game,i would run it especially

So i didnt see a disgrace here,game is progressing and contra speedruns should be more open to newcomers and old players

i believe that any new way to run the game it's ok cause the main category are so pull at this point that old and new runners want something different (even turbo mode that it's certanly pretty bad in terms of consistency and spread rhythm) but the focus is on better d-pad and jumping skills when you forget about the intense button-mashing (pulling off more leaps of fate, yolo jumps, 6skips, tas crazy stuff)

I personally stop the grind cause i'm sooo left-handed that i get injured 3 times on the right arm because of the mashing relying on the weak hand LOL so any category that exclude that technique it's fine for me and probably many others! Just another point of view.

Fantastic. If for some reason you can't perform tricks or find them too difficult, then simply don't speedrun this game. Your complaints are no reason to add cheats, and that's literally what happened. This is absurd. If you want to have fun and run with turbo, no one is stopping you. But not here. Cheats have always been prohibited in speedruns, and no one is obligated to add them for fun or your own amusement, and this should not be allowed.

Just to be clear, the above person is not me, JkL0ser on twitch. I'm not nearly this stupid :) People have asked me about this, and just wanna make it clear, and if you are not trying to pretend to be me, continue whatever your deal is, but just so people stop asking me :)

"Cheats" and "Turbo" have been allowed in other games. the category is different, and probably not going to be any where near as popular as No Turbo. i can think of at least 2 other example of allowing turbo off the top of my head. what harm is a turbo category providing? if anything it provides a new category for the people that have run this game for a while ,and what to try something new. i dont see what the issue is. if you want to risk harming your hands or you have knowledge on a healthy way to mash, then play No Turbo. if you arnt the best masher and want to run more casually, then run Turbo. its for accessibility. Many "Cheat" categories are on SRC just for fun, it creates a new level of optimization. you complain about cheats when THE KONAMI CODE ITSELF is allowed, and you dont say its wrong. if you ask me that is very hypocritical.

It has been given its own category, so I don't see any issue with it. If they were adding Turbo to the existing categories, more than just myself would likely have a huge problem with that. But they aren't doing that, so I don't see what the problem would be here. Let some of us who destroyed our arms mashing at this game dream again. xD

IMO gatekeeping and elitism is far more damageable than adding categories that do no harm to the existing ones.

I gave up at 11:30 on any without turbo because it was already starting to make my whole right arm hurt and I've recently suffered a hand/thumb/wrist injury thanks to speed running Ninja Gaiden so I basically can't mash at all anymore. This is a wonderful addition. I'm excited to give it a try soon.
