A significant change is being made to the Finish Battle (1v1) category.
The category will now be split into two separate sections based on the 2022 Q2 update: Pre-Banners and Post-Banners. This is being done to account for the timing differences at the start of battles introduced by the Banners update and to keep the categories fair and consistent.
Additionally, runs that are under 10 seconds (& under 11 seconds for 2v2) will now use millisecond timing instead of whole-second timing. This will allow for more precise timing and better distinguish between runs that are close to each other.
As a result of these changes, the RoyaleAPI replay permalink requirement is also being adjusted. Instead of being required only for the top 3 runs, a RoyaleAPI permalink will now be required for all runs that are 9 seconds or below.
How to precisely retime a run under 10 seconds:
For example, if you want to measure a run that ends at 4:51:
- Find the first frame where the in-game timer displays 4:51.
- Find the exact frame where the battle ends. (when the tower troop/king tower disappears)
- Use a retiming tool to measure the precise time elapsed between these two frames. (I personally use https://somewes.com/frame-count/)
- Take the measured time and add 9 seconds to it. The time you add later depends on the seconds elapsed, this is just an example with 4:51
- The time you get is the full battle time with milliseconds.
For example, if the elapsed time between 4:51.000 and the end of the battle is 0.327 seconds, the final run time is 9.327 seconds.
This process is optional as the mods will be retiming your run anyway, do it if you want to see what time you get prior to submitting.
The rules will be updated accordingly to reflect the changes mentioned above.
Note that these changes are currently WIP (as of this announcement). The category split may remain incomplete for a while, as there are over 160 runs that need to be moved, in addition to runs that need to be retimed.
