A significant change is being made to the Finish Battle (1v1) category.
The category will now be split into two separate sections based on the 2022 Q2 update: Pre-Banners and Post-Banners. This is being done to account for the timing differences at the start of battles introduced by the Banners update and to keep the categories fair and consistent.
Additionally, runs that are under 10 seconds (& under 11 seconds for 2v2) will now use millisecond timing instead of whole-second timing. This will allow for more precise timing and better distinguish between runs that are close to each other.
As a result of these changes, the RoyaleAPI replay permalink requirement is also being adjusted. Instead of being required only for the top 3 runs, a RoyaleAPI permalink will now be required for all runs that are 9 seconds or below.
How to precisely retime a run under 10 seconds:
For example, if you want to measure a run that ends at 4:51:
- Find the first frame where the in-game timer displays 4:51.
- Find the exact frame where the battle ends. (when the tower troop/king tower disappears)
- Use a retiming tool to measure the precise time elapsed between these two frames. (I personally use https://somewes.com/frame-count/)
- Take the measured time and add 9 seconds to it. The time you add later depends on the seconds elapsed, this is just an example with 4:51
- The time you get is the full battle time with milliseconds.
For example, if the elapsed time between 4:51.000 and the end of the battle is 0.327 seconds, the final run time is 9.327 seconds.
This process is optional as the mods will be retiming your run anyway, do it if you want to see what time you get prior to submitting.
The rules will be updated accordingly to reflect the changes mentioned above.
Note that these changes are currently WIP (as of this announcement). The category split may remain incomplete for a while, as there are over 160 runs that need to be moved, in addition to runs that need to be retimed.
Join Clan (Level 3) category is now obsolete. The category's idea was expired long ago (12th June 2017), but it stood on the boards nevertheless. However with the new update and leveling system, it is significantly slower to get to level 3 compared to existing runs.
Moreover, the rules of Finish Battle (1v1 & 2v2) are slightly adjusted to now require showing yourself entering the battle/replay. This is as a result of runners posting gameplay of their runs in medias res rather than showing it entirely from the start.
The Training Camp category has now been changed to be caught up with the recent changes and updates to the game.
All runs performed after the 2025 Q1 Update (31st March 2025) are now considered the default category. Runs completed before this update have been moved to an obsolete category for two reasons:
-
Lucky Drops were introduced, adding extra animations that increase the overall completion time.
-
The update added a forced tutorial at the beginning of the third Training Camp battle. Before this change, the battle could be started freely, allowing players to place cards whenever and wherever they wanted.
From now on, all new submissions must be performed on the post-2025 Q1 version and will be submitted to the default category.

A new requirement has been added to the Finish Battle & Finish Battle 2v2 categories for top 3 runs submission.
You will now have to provide a permalink to your battle generated from RoyaleAPI alongside a video. This requirement is added to prevent the use of private servers or cheating, RoyaleAPI collects data from official Supercell servers only.
Failing to provide the former will result in a rejection to your run, even if you have a video proof. No exceptions to anyone.
Additionally, this requirement has been added to the game rules of both categories.
More details on how to generate a permalink to a replay from RoyaleAPI are in this document:
We’ve added a new Game Rules section to the boards to better explain them. The rules themselves have always been here, but there wasn't a public spot to gather and announce them properly.
All existing rules across every category have been rewritten for better clarity and consistency. Some categories have also received minor changes to catch up with the game updates (12 win cc/gc time now ends when the number 12 shows instead of the chest.) The site theme has also received minor adjustments to make it look better.
Take a moment to check them out before submitting speedruns so you can be familiar with them.
Note that these rules are subject to change at any time depending on game updates and moderator decisions. Any update to the rules will be posted here or on the discord server: https://discord.gg/DxUFt4T
