https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juKAreLfDo0I’m a bit confused about this strategy. It does seem quite practical, and the act of releasing the mouse is indeed a built-in game mechanic, with its hotkey adjustable from the start menu. So I would consider it Glitchless, but I’m not entirely sure, which is why I posted this thread.(If this strategy counts as Glitchless, I might use it in future speedruns.)
not exactly sure, it seems like a glitch honestly seeing how it freezes the world around you because the game thinks your in the paused inventory but lets you still mine, yes it could be seen as intentional seeing how you are able to bind them this way but most glitches are things like this that are missed. kinda hard to say with this esoecially because our community itself is rather small so its not like we can really vote on this type of thing, but if others dont consider it a glitch i dont see an issue with it.
I think if it was used for fighting mobs as a way of avoiding damage I would consider it a glitch, I am hesitant to allow things that might not be considered "intended" game manics, as I would not generally consider this an intended way to play the game. There is for sure some room for debate there though, like if I was trying to verify a full storyline glitch-less run that used a lot of this I would have some questions. But if it was used for digging sand speedruns then it might be ok. But I do feel as if allowing it sets a difficult president for the glitchless categories.
I think the rational I want to move forward is this:
Any% Glitchless and 100% are the special tiers of speedrunning where you are showing off your skill as a runner without any special methods, just showing that you can play the game as intended as fast and efficiently as possible without resorting to any "tricks" so to speak, pure game play knowledge.
But every other category is largely there for fun and in the spirit of competition as long as the methods are free for all to use cheesing things a little as time improvements will get harder and harder the more we go on is fine, so letting something like this slide for less "important" runs I think could be allowed.
As Death ASAP runs have recently reached a point where no frames are showing between the acceptance of wizards first popup and the death screen, I will not be verifying any more Death ASAP runs. I don't want to archive the channel so I will leave it up but posting here to let everyone know. Runs in
